Hey everyone,

As usual, I will do my best to catch up with extra chapters this month. The family is away on holiday for a week, so I'm hoping that being distraction-free should let me churn out substantial wordcount. 

I'll update the post with the completed chapter as soon as it's finished.

I would rather support knowing it'll be released eventually instead you having a time limit and possibly losing support because of IRL issues and getting too far behind to ever catch up. So you don't finish 158, or start 159, but you dropped placeholder post so you can charge for 160? If you don't get this fixed by January a whole lot of us are going to end up reporting you. So, he is charging for chapter 160 even when he has not delivered chapter 159 and only partially delivered chapter 158 which he has already charged the readers for. The amount charged is insignificant but it is the principle of making promises every month and making excuses when the time comes and not delivering. But again, I doubt he is even reading these comments we are writing..

Writing is a creative activity, not an on demand production. Sometimes we get more sometimes we get less. If you want the story to finish you will have to be patient. The story has progressed far enough to become complicated, which takes more time on top of the creativity. Beating him up on here will not give you what you want any faster.

For all the people defending him - you realize he could have updated many times (it really doesn't take that long to do!) with his progress. He also could have posted a warning days ago that he was going to pre charge (AGAIN!) to give people a chance to cancel their membership ahead of the end of the month. But no, he sneaks it in at the last second.

If he isn't caught up by Jan I am reporting an unsupporting, I feel like if he actually cared what we think he would actually communicate some about what's happening during the month, even just a hey all I'm alive would be nice, or hey I am struggling this month, cool give me some kind of notice about what is going on. I follow Teflers earnings on the graphtreon site. They are now in steady decline. He is killing himself by abusing the generosity of his patrons. I will read this partial chapter and then discontinue my patronage again. Eventually he will catch up with what I have already paid and I may return to supporting him. Or not.

The last chapter un-added to is 16,000 words. Chapters 1-10 combined was only 78,000 words so less than 8000 per chapter. Tef, cap 158 where it is, add the planned final part to 159. Write 159 to a total of 10,000 words. Then start 160 and do it to 10,000 words. That should be doable by the end of December, have the content you started with in size and whole issue is handled. Should anyone bitch about the smaller chapter size I point back at 1-10, 11-20 which was a total of 107,000. 21-30 which was 126,000. Chapter 156 was 20,000 words, 157 was 20,000. If your chapters are over twice the size of the starting ones then stop at the end of some scene and start the next chapter off instead. 10,000 - 12,000 words per chapter is enough.

I understand outside influences on writing ( even as a supplement to income) but I sure would like to be there at the end of the conflict... so you can say "Story done" and move on to another of the stories you have framed in your head.

FEEL I OWE TEFLER MONEY!! For those unsatisfied with what Tefler is providing now and how he is charging, take a hard look, no go back to the start of the series. Look at what he gave you then for FREE!! NOW look at CHAPTERS 100 AND 15O that you may have paid for. Each of THOSE chapters consisted of up to 4 subchapters. Did Tefler charge you for 4, or did he charge you for 1? I am 77 years old. This is the best sci-fi story I have read since "Doc" E. E. Smith and his "Lensman" stories and they are no longer available. Unsatisfied, then do what you must do, BUT DO NOT COMPLAIN!! Tefler, you are doing a GREAT JOB!! Don't stop!! I KNOW the problems life can throw at you, know many love you and your story and are with you!!! I OWE you money!

Incorrect - Please note, other authors such as C H Darkstrider charge monthly, but I'm not sure that is any better though; Each month I pay, but sometimes I can be waiting several months for an update at least Tefler has some incentive to publish something, even though he is playing an apparent eternal game of catch up. I liked it when he charged us for the Chapter he released, not charge for 2 chapters ahead.

He isn't even asking if we would mind or giving us an update of progress, or if something has happened, and won't be able to deliver on time. He just charges for the place holder monthly regardless of what he has actually delivered. At this rate, unless he pulls his act together, will not catch up, and more and more people are getting frustrated. It's not the money for me, it's the principle of just helping himself without the decency of keeping us informed.

So you’ve paid $4 two months ahead of receiving the goods. To those complaining endlessly… is this really biggest problem in your lives? If so then you are the luckiest bastards on Earth. And yet at the same time apparently the least happy. Sure, being out $4 for two months is not ideal but put it into perspective. Writing is hard work. Especially on a story that has been dragging on for years. I’m sure Tef does struggle with burnout. Because he’s human. He’s trying to write an interesting and engaging story on a scale that any other writer would consider unrealistic. You couldn’t do it. I couldn’t do it. Somehow Tef is doing it. Two months behind where he would like to be. So he’s not perfection itself. While I don’t have a lot of confidence we’ll see 2 chapters by end of December I am confident of one thing: Tefler is trying his hardest. That’s the only thing he said he would do. Be kind. Please.

A second possible solution to the problem Tefler has is to hire a media manager. Someone who he is willing to talk to regularly (not daily, but 2-4 times a week), who can post weekly updates on Patreon (and the politically biased Discord), to let the fans know what to expect.

When Tefler quit his job, I can guarantee you he was not a neurosurgeon or neurologist. How much research did Tefler have to do in the last three chapters for Rachel and Irillith to describe their actions in bringing Faye back? A course I took over 50 years ago, there was a semester where for part of the course we created an electronic nerve to simulate an organic one. So I can guarantee you he spend weeks researching to get the information in the chapters correct. I think the last three chapters were some of his best. It's Tefler's dedication to the details that make the story intriguing. A lot of Authors take months or years to do the research into their books to create a work as good as Tefler produces monthly. Tefler doesn't just sit down and put something down on paper. So I wouldn't consider what Tefler produces half done / slapped together.

October 1 157 in progress released I'll be able to catch up now that the prep work is done for the Galkiran fights, so I'll charge for this chapter in September and wrap up the Progenitor invasion in October. Folks: Just as an FYI: Admiral Kester's site is not as open or congenial as has been portrayed. I made suggestions that Tefler's copyright be protected and that NSFW content be hidden from children on his new site. Two weeks later, this was his response: Admiral Kester — Yesterday at 4:33 PM @everyone I am hear by asking for your permission to ban the member Rus#6708. Here are the charges against him. Violation of server rule #2. He posted this on 12/04/22 at 00:46 "@Admiral Kester You are allowing non-public content on open channels which is a violation of Tefler's copyright. He does shut down these things so you might want to fix it so only verified Discord members can see the non publicly published chapters." Then this on 12/04/22 at 00:48 "Cool! And are discussions on those chapters also a violation? Since detailed discussions will inevitably cross that line. Not trying to be a negative nancy here.....just making a suggestion to insulate your server." These are threats to not only myself but to the server. The discussions being made in this server are allowed under 17 U.S.C. 107 under the 1976 Copyright Act. Tefler can speak for himself and has my email address to do so. Rus is not an attorney and if he actually is, did not present himself as one and as a representative of Tefler. My, my. First, not sure where all the attorney stuff came from. All I did was make some suggestions for his server. I even did it nicely. Second: I never threatened Kester or the server he is setting up. I was trying to help him make sure he can keep his server running without problems from the Discord Admins....which obviously he didn't appreciate and he banned me. Interesting. Last suggestion, Kester: If you continue to allow hate speech and allow others to post bragging about how one can steal from Tefler, I suspect your server will suffer for it. Just a suggestion.

Nobody on my server has stolen anything from Tefler. In fact, it is against the rules to post any of Tefler's commissioned art, whole or substantial portions of his written work. There are numerous fan Discord servers out there and that is all mine is. The original one might be sanctioned by Tefler, but is by definition just another fan server. Now, if someone on their own wants to make and remove their donation to Tefler, that is their own business. I personally don't find such actions as acceptable. Have a nice day. 😎

Since there has been no post of a chapter over 3 weeks in, Tefler either lied to us again or has not come close to completing one of the two chapters we have already paid for. And of course, we have gotten absolutely no updates from Tefler, no communication at all from him. I seriously doubt Tefler will get caught up and not charge for another placeholder, so it looks like this will be my last week as a Patron of Tefler. Let's give Tefler a nice holiday gift and come up with a big range of excuses he can use going forward as to why he was unable to write. -Family emergency X, so his week without the family around was cut short. -Winter storm caused delays, power went out or had to help friend/family. -Adopted a new cat that got sick. -Computer hard drive failed and he lost everything. -Tefler role-played as John and had to go rescue Walker from getting executed. -The Queen visited him in a dream and told him not to write. -Car broke down. -House got infested by hissing Cockroaches. -Tefler actually got 159 and 160 completed but then his new cat knocked over a large cup of coffee on to his computer, shutting it down before any of it could be saved. If we get some really good suggestions, we could make some Tefler Excuses Bingo Cards.

I'll give it till the new year before I temporarily unsubscribe for a few months so my monthly payments can yield fruit (it's ChristmaHannuKwanzukah, after all), but in the meantime can somebody remind me why I'm supposed to care at all about Tom Walker? I'm finding myself really annoyed every time I have to read about his trial nowadays. Of the three or four current story arcs, his is the seemingly utterly irrelevant one, so I'm assuming (hoping?) it comes to something.

Besides, there's some more progenitors that need assassinating. Progenitor tech to be bettered. Thrall races to save. Xar'aziuth that needs some serious Killin'. Astral plane to be purged. A 200+ year old lost smugglers ship that was attacked and depressurized carrying a cargo of 28 Nymphs. Vulkats to saved/recreated. Planets to be created. Babies & kittens to make. And of course lions, tigers & oh my. Whew! Why not.

Guys, I have bad news for all those who were waiting for some new chapters for Christmas. Tef had an accident last night. While he was trying to sneakily place ch 159 and ch 160 in Santa's sleigh he slipped on ice and dropped the pages and the reindeers eat them. Now we have to wait till the reins will "eliminate" the pages. Let us hope they didn't digest too much of them, but the bad news is that the chapters will not be actually complete and they will be kind of shity. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !!!!!

You all are really spoiled. I came to patreon because I got tired of waiting on Lit. Now I do believe that Tefler should definitely be paid for his work. I would rather wait 3 months for a well written (and edited) chapter than have 5 chapters faster and not be as good.

And if he isn't caught up and pulls another month while being 3x chapters behind I will be reducing my contribution to the minimum I can might not be much for me but I will just go back to waiting for Lit to be brought to current.... It is just as bad as this current model and I will go in search of other stories....

I foresee a volume of complaints that, by word count, would add up to an entire chapter. However, please, do go on. I much prefer the boring continuing Tribe Wars than suppression of speech. Just finished reading the autobiography of Malcom X and the autobiography of Booker T Washington. One complains even about those who tried to help him, the other of thankfulness. The glass is either half full or half empty, your choice.
