So much for wrapping up the progenator invasion in October! Not too bad of a chapter though, alot of filler and no progress on the invasion, but it did have a couple interesting points.

Sacrificing an Engine to set a bait was interesting. Setting up a potential inner conflict with the latent Kythfaren power within. Maliri data security seems to be extra loose with regards to the sensor net, another trap perhaps?

Some of these comments are becoming unbelievably toxic. I'm always interested in receiving feedback, but not insults and abuse, and the swearing is totally unnecessary.

In this paragraph: should read “satisfying clicks”… John returned their wave goodbye, before focusing his attention on the hundreds of components floating in the Cargo Bay. He made a gesture towards the fuel compression assembly and the parts began to lock together with a series of satisfy clicks. It was hypnotic to watch the engine components build themselves, and he gazed up at the propulsion system as it rapidly took shape, his thoughts lingering on Jehanna and Ailita. In this paragraph: should read “it was tempting TO try to lie her way…”… It was tempting try to lie her way out of trouble, but Emandra dropped eye contact and quietly replied, “It came out before I could stop myself. She just... irritated me.” Sorry about the haters. If they don’t like how things are going they should leave. Sometimes life gets in the way or it becomes more apparent later that other parts of the overall story need attention and takes time to tell. If I was held to every thing I’ve said or good intention not realized I’d be in big trouble and so would they. Please just stay true to the story itself and let the haters be disappointed or leave. I don’t give a crap that you might have said whatever might be done by whenever as long as you’re continuing to tell the story with integrity. If they don’t like how long it’s taking they should go find a story that’s already finished.

Loved the chapter, especially the lol moment from Dana asking whether Sakura was being weird or not. Different POV battle scene was a nice touch as well. Thanks Tef. Keep up the great work & I hope home life has settled down so that 2023 can be very productive. It’ll be a relief for most of us when you catch up & stop the whingers. HNY

Have been suspecting a problem between John and Blake's Kyth'vindathys since the beginning of this year. Wrote a story about it 4/2022, part of it quotes Chpt 136: “ In the billions of years the galaxy had existed, his [John's] astronomical ascendancy was unprecedented…my true name is Kyth’vindathys. For I am the Vengeance of the Kyth’faren reborn.” To which I then continued: "It was then the battle lines were redrawn. Now either Blake [means black] or John would pick a side to lead to victory. He would either serve Kyth’vindathys, his sword, BE his sword; or his sword Kyth’vindathys would serve him, and he would remain John, just John. JohnBlake as Ashanath so accurately called him seemed to stroke his white hat with the black band and waited. A few seconds of the material world, much longer in Astral. As the spiral of the galaxy continued turning, would it return again or would something new be born, Kyth’farenathys. The Kyth’faren reborn, free of vengeance." One of the many themes in TSM is law vs justice vs redemption. It seems to me that John and now Sakura are being "taken over" by the Kyth'faren in a manner reminiscent of the spirit guide and Alyssa whose name means not-insane is rightfully worried about John's sanity, again. Of course, I want Mad Jonah back!

Nope I wanna see the ol' Victus to become haunted by some psychic glitch ( the colective , who have figured out how to orgasim )and start spreading a psychic lust virus everywhere it goes leaving entire armies to busy to fight because they are lined up to dry hump the ship itself in drydock . John shows up to the orgy and is totally ignored because there to busy with his ship . Lighten up folks it was a good chapter now start rereading the series because I think we're finally getting close to fay coming back

Hm. There's three asterisks at the end of the chapter. That usually means there's another scene, as asterisks denote a scene change. An actual chapter end wouldn't have any asterisks. So, does that mean the chapter is actually incomplete, or was it just a typo by Tefler?

I seriously have to question the scene with the enemy cruiser having hacked into the Maliri comm buoy. Yes, it is a distinct possibility for the Maliri network to be hacked, but that does not mean the data on it cannot still remain secure. Especially that sensor data. Irillith is the crew's intel officer and cyber warfare expert. There is no conceivable way she would not have thought to encrypt that data as it travels over the Maliri network. Even if the data is intercepted on the network, if it was properly encrypted, it would just be jumbled garbage without the decryption key. Considering Irillith can smoothly hack Thrall tech, she can certainly devise an encryption method that the Thralls couldn't decipher. For Irillith to not have encrypted such sensitive data goes against her very character and her role on the crew. Hell, it goes against conventional cyber security protocols that even we lowly humans stuck in the 21st century adhere to, let alone the vaunted Maliri with their vastly superior cyber security of the fictional future. The only way I can see this not being a major faux paus by Tefler that should require immediate rectifying is if Tefler plans for that sensor data that the enemy has intercepted to be false data, meant to be a red herring for GK to chase, rather than the actual data from Mael's sensor network that the Invictus crew is using.

OK so why was Helene not at the secret Lioness meeting? I can understand Jehanna and Ailita, as they were the distraction. I VERY much liked Alyssa's comment "What made you think this was a Democracy?" Then she ignored her own point and let it become one, without Helene. Perhaps because Helene is not in combat. However she is the empath specialist and the best one to explore John and Sakura's emotions. As to the 4 catgirls on the bridge, why not them? This scene should have included an explanation of why Helene and the 4 catgirls under Jade were not there or not voting. Obviously this will come up again so there's ways to fix this. Update, Helene is in!

A little bit of perspective. I have been reading SF and Fantasy for going on 70 years. I and the other fans have always been at the mercy of the authors and publishers as to getting our 'fix'. Case in point, Roger Zelazny's Amber series (1st five volumes): 1970 Nine Princes in Amber 1972 The Guns of Avalon 1975 Sign of the Unicorn 1976 The Hand of Oberon 1978 The Courts of Chaos. Five stories, spaced out over 8 years. Repeat - 8 f'ing years. There wasn't anything that we could do, except wait, and read other stuff. As each new book came out, I re-read the previous book(s), to keep the story in mind. By the time Courts of Chaos arrived, I had read Nine Princes 5 times. (Don't even want to talk about Philip Jose Farmer's Riverworld serie) With the advent of on-line publishing by authors, chapter releases became more of a model. Instead waiting years, months, weeks, days, or even less resulted. We have become jaded, in our expectations of author output. And spoiled. I am grateful that Tefler (and others) have, for the most part, freely given us this marvelous entertainment. None of this is intended to address the pre-payment issue.

I originally kept her out of it because she's so open and honest, she'd struggle keeping a secret from John, but then I realised her empathic abilities made her important to the discussion. I've also fixed a few typos, so thanks everyone that warned me about those!

If we get 160 (in whole or in part) and don't get charged for 161, I'll increase my membership for 2023, so long as we aren't being pre-charged again. If Tefler offered annual pricing as some do, I'd consider that option as well, but I'm uncomfortable with the lack of regular, cordial communications at the moment. We used to hear from Tefler much more regularly back when he was working full time and writing in his spare time. Tefler, if you could start to allocate even 2-10 minutes a week to just post a note of any kind, I think it would help a lot. I know I'm not asking for daily updates, but even things like: "Hi. It's me. Things are going (pick one: slowly, well, hectically, etc.). Thank you for your continuing support." would be better than hearing nothing from you at all until the end of the month. Obviously, whatever you wanted to communicate would be fine, but the key thing there is to communicate. We miss hearing from you.
