Hey everyone!

I brought this chapter up to nearly 18k words, but I had to chop 750 which were my notes for the upcoming scenes, which was basically a long list of spoilers!

This chapter ends on a grim note, not really fitting for a New Year's celebration. I'll add the final scene tomorrow which will rectify that, so you might want to wait until tomorrow evening, or just go ahead and read it now, the choice is up to you!

Anyway, here's chapter 160, I hope you enjoy it!

.148: Alright now, the crew has upgraded the power cores, the shields, and fixed the nauseating wormhole generator, and we also see upgrades to the Raptor 2.0 and to the Mech (Valkyrie) and all of the 'girls' practicing for combat with (the enemy) Thrall armies, and Dana is designing new and improved small arms, ... Also, the requestioned Laranthyran fleets are on their way, but will they get here (Kythshara - in the purple Loralar nebula) in time? So much and so many maybes for Tef to answer in the next few chapters, ... like you, I can scarcely wait, .... what will or will not occur? ... I still think Tom Walker will break jail at some point, ... Will Anna go with him? .... ;-) TTFN

Can't really nail down what I'm thinking, but the gist of it is that the story's gone a little off the rails. Just finished 160 and noticed how much of it seemed to be the same ol' thing, more boinking and emotional stuff, the ol' pair-bonding and lovey-dovey banter. Then that was interrupted by the trial which has just enough screen time to cut the flow of the main narrative. The fight scenes weren't very enthralling because the flow was broken by jumping around. And, tbh, there's no real heat there since they can bop in, destroy some ships and be gone before the enemy knows it. Without the chance of being destroyed or damaged or captured, the whole thing kind of feels kind of lackluster. Maybe it's too many moving parts? How do you have a dozen ambushes that are successful but still keep the suspense going so the reader feels like there might be a chance that something bad does happen? How do you build up empathy for a soldier being framed when that story arc gets so little screen time and it's already known that he's innocent and the only question is how the Lion is going to save the poor sap?

Did anyone else catch that during the trail. The evidence being discussed was Tom Claymore being damaged from Kintark plasma and not Brimorian particle beams. That is a major story plot logic error. Unless I am mistaken somehow.

Seems like a huge error on the "plasma burns" on Tom's Claymore. Brimorians use particle beams, it is Kintark who use plasma . That means the section of plama burning longer in atmosphere would also be wrong. Tefler avoids reading trolls like me. ould someone either point that out or explain if I am in error?

I honestly don't know how I screwed up the Brimorian/kintark plasma mixup. It's an easy fix though, so I'll go through and edit his testimony to correctly be about Brimorian particle weapons. Thanks to everyone who pointed it out!

Tefler, I don't read incomplete chapters. So, I read 159 not knowing it was incomplete until you posted that you had adjusted a scene. You are already charging me for chapters I have not received. Could you at least tell me when the chapter is incomplete. When you posted 159 you did not state it was incomplete. And let's not forget you just charged me for 2 more chapters ( yes I know I said this earlier. ) That is approximately 16000.00 dollars based on your patron count back when I could still see how many patron's you had. That is one hell of a monetary gift to yourself.

I am a little confused, last month We got chapter 159 that had been prepaid for then was pre charged for chapter 160. Now I got chapter 160 and then was billed for 2 chapters! So wtf, are we now pre paying for chapter 161 and 162? did the roof go bad again?

@tefler for 30 seconds you were caught up and legit. I’ve been a reader and fan since the first chapters were posted on literotica many years ago. I used to subscribe for $5/chapter unlimited, since the first precharge I’m $1 max 1/mo. And I’m sure I’m not alone in changing my contribution. You are only hurting yourself with this precharge bullshit. I hope you get it together.

Tef - you are ever the optimist. By delivering two chapters (almost) and charging for two chapters you are not catching up. Plus delivering two chapters is rare and doing so in two consecutive months is even more rare. When you deliver one chapter this month you’ll be more behind than ever. Your writing speed is not the problem… the stories do come out at a regular clip. The money is not the problem. The problem is that your charging based on a fantasy writing speed that doesn’t exist in reality. The endlessly deeper hole you’re digging has bad optics. I did like the chapter so far though. Except for the Tom Walker parts, although even that almost became interesting. I never thought I’d say that. Happy New Year and best of luck on the writing. I’m always rooting for you!

It is getting harder and harder to give a sh1t about the Walker trial. You called the supposedly provisional ending a cliffhanger, I call it a fastidious distraction. If you don’t fold into the story why we need to care, you should really get rid of it quickly. Of all the subplots, It is the one that dragged forever and ever with no apparent point.

The Brimor/Kinta weapon is fixed. There's another problem: "Edraele recognised at once that the distressed THRALL in question was Kehlarissa," That should be WARD. Since Tefler rerfuses to read posts by trolls like me, someone let him know.

BTW, I like the chapters, most especially how Tefler solved the APPARENT stupidity of broadcasting the cloak breaker data wo encryption. It is excellent when an author sets up a "problem", then gives the solution in an unexpected way, My criticisms would be meant constructively, except that being a troll, I only wish to annoy.

I find it hard to believe that a judge would allow such inflammatory and admittedly highly edited film to be shown without defense review. Such a trial might wind up as a mistrial, which would be a sad ending to that part of the story.

I do love TSM. I want to start over and read it from scratch at some point. it'll be like 2 months and when I catch up there'll be 4 or 5 new chapters to do more than there were when I started that. Welcome to being useless for ages

.98: I just loved Sahn's 'new and improved' pistols, the Quantum Pistols, ... but when are they going to upgrade the Firing Range? Dana's awesome weapons have been way too much for the basically old/standard range for some time now, .... it badly needs some Grand Engineering Overlord improvements, just to keep the girls from accidentally blowing holes through the side of the ship, ... ;-) TTFN

they are going to run into complications in the way of accidentally blowing holes in enemy ships and space stations. In the paragon suits it won't be a problem for themselves, but others they didn't intend to annihilate... The pistols either need 3 choices the second of which is a lower powered round, or perhaps just a second switch that when held while squeezing the trigger you get the full quantom output but when not depressed it's like the previous version in power output.

Well, that was a nice chapter. And good job on covering for the blunder of broadcasting that sensor data in the clear. Let's hope that GK falls for it. Speaking of GK, that poor matriarch of his. All she wants is to love her lord and be loved in return, but she's incapable of providing the love he wants/needs. Things just are not working out for her. Same goes for Tom. Things were going well enough, considering all the damning evidence, but that footage at the end was just the final nail in the coffin. Maybe it's about time for Tom to be called to the stand to speak in his own defense? Then again, that probably won't help matters. It'll take a miracle to save him now. Perhaps that miracle will take the form of a certain Maliri making an appearance at the eleventh hour to reveal the truth? The Maliri love Terran holo-net drama, and courtroom dramas likely feature prominently. Tom's case is the perfect opportunity for a Maliri to get a starring role in the drama event of the century.

Thanks for finishing 160 quickly to end our wait… which is painful to the degree we all love your story. Nice job. Can’t wait to see what Dana comes up with for the Valkyrie weapon. I’m hoping for a high speed quantum gatling canon. One thing that’s odd about all the guns in TSM is the relatively low fire rate. Put a 4000 round per minute quantum GAU-8 Avenger gatling on the Valkyrie’s arm! It would be cool (no pun intended) for a gun design to fire so fast that it would require cryokenisis (not just benefit from). A gun so deadly that only one girl in the galaxy could possibly use it!

I’m a bit surprised there wasn’t more talk about the wormhole generator after fixing it. It should not induce vomiting now and was hoping it would recharge faster. I see the are using it to go back and forth between the two fleets with wormhole jumps. I thought Tef was going to do something about that 12 hour delay.

Also, isn’t one of the fleets “chasing” the Invictus? The first time both fleets are attacked in 12 hour intervals they will know a wormhole generator is in use making pursuit on a specific heading an irrelevant strategy.

How does John plan on the Maliri capturing all those ships that have lost their engines? The crews are still there and the ships are still capable of putting up a fight. Either John is foolishly thinking the crews will become docile once GK is dead, or is subconsciously planning for the crews to not be a factor when the time comes.

Tefler, I just had a thought and correct me if I'm wrong. The engines that John and the crew are targeting on the thrall ships are the sublight engines, correct? Not the FTL drives? If I'm understanding the lore properly, the sublight engines have no bearing whatsoever on the ship's ability to go and travel in FTL, so all those thrall ships are still very much capable of FTL travel. What's preventing them from going into FTL and changing locations?

Wouldn't Calara & gun crews know the ships layout & vulnerable areas? Major damage to engines, engine compartments, engine areas, could easily affect many ship systems. So it wouldn't be out to the question FTL would also be damaged or at least offline.

Actually.....I really liked the ch157 till 159 ....I had banked up some chapters so reading them in one go gave me quite some satisfaction...Tefler is imo a hugely talented writer... Being a patron for not that long, I have still spend less than I would have buying a hard-cover version of any book (I always do that for collect-able series)...and I gladly continue to be his patron for now....As any writer of talent Tefler deserves to get paid... And well paid he is....all he needs to do is stop the overpromise-under deliver cycle and all is well in the TSM universe....
