Three Square Meals - Chapter 161 (Placeholder) (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

I've been busy catching up on the previous chapters I owed you, and now we're all square once again. Unfortunately, that leaves me no income for this month, so I need to create placeholders for 161 and 162.

As I think I've consistently proven, I'm still constantly delivering chapters every month. I had intended to deliver at least three last month instead of two, but lost the first two weeks due to me catching Covid and one of my sons being hospitalised.

The rest of the Galkiran invasion is very complicated, with lots of scenes timed to occur at specific points for it all to make sense. Interweaving it with Tom's trial made it all even trickier, but again, that was for a specific plot reason. I've already sketched out a detailed timeline for all those scenes, which was why I was able to get chapter 160 written so quickly.

So I ask you to bear with me in January to finally get caught up. We're approaching the big fight between John and Gahl'kalgor, so I hope it'll be an exciting and satisfying read.

How do I ensure that I get the chapters 161 and 162 which I paid for, and still not be pre charged for next chapters? Basically looking for a way to avoid being charged with no chapters delivered next month. I am sick of placeholders and with layoffs its now difficult to spare extra cash.

This is pretty simple. Bitching about the morality/horror/whatever maybe a sport for those who hang around and bitch. They must get something out of it. I know I get something out of their bitching. Personally, I log in occasionally and hope to find a chapter. Then I catch up on all the silly bitching, watch Michael's defense (to which I will add "Keep up the good work!"), and consider whether or not to weigh in. I usually log out then and wander off my merry way. A week later (or whenever I remember as it gets closer to EOM), I check back in and look. Same whining, same defense, pretty much same people. Months and months of this. "I'm going to quit...." "It is soooooooooo unfair" "OMG -- HE PRE-BILLED US!!!!" "I like the story but I don't know if I can tolerate the _______/s?query={Some bitchy comment}" And I laugh, knowing I will happily keep checking in every now and then, maintaining my support and enjoying the story --- both as written in TSM and as documented here in all the anticipatory whining. Occasionally, I post. Today is such an occasion. Oh, well, every community needs ritual. Thanks everyone!!!. Keep up the great work, Tef.

As I work to be come the Official Server Troll at Admiral Kester's Discord, https://discord.gg/tXEPg9PuhM , I've come up with a new way to stir the Tribe War combatants who seem to be running out of steam (they ran out of ideas a long time ago). Borrowing a page from any good wife, if you can't beat them, annoy them. I am now going to be posting my side dishes a bit at a time. I will aim to do so every week, and ask that you pick from any list of reasons why I may fail to do so. Does anyone know if we'regetting this chapter any time soon? I get that its a complicated big story, but isn't that the whole point behind charging by chapter instead of monthly? Do people mostly stay subbed, or just revisit once-twice a year to catchup?

I've been reading TSM since inside the first 10 chapters. I finally broke down and signed up for this due to the glacial pace of getting stuff for free. I dont mind paying - I've supported other patrons, but this placeholder stuff is bullshit. I'll certainly not be sticking around if it is the 'norm'. I can come back in 12 months and binge read (like I just did) without the drama and 'placeholders'.

FROM a couple of weeks ago under chapter #160: -- Michael56Smith .145: .... and will they get around to building and installing the 'fix' to the Wormhole Generator? John and Dana (and Tef) are on an upgrade roll, ... considering that they are up against an Asshat Progenitor and his multiple fleets, they need to be at their best, ... and Calara (with big help from Irillith) is turning a weakness (unprotected fleet data over regular comm channels) into a trap for the invasion fleets, ... ya just gotta love it! ;-) TTFN

Also, this one was from a little over a week ago: -- Michael56Smith .148: Alright now, we see upgrades to the Raptor 2.0 and to the Mech (Valkyrie) and all of the 'girls' practicing for combat with (the enemy) Thrall armies, and Dana is designing new and improved small arms, ... Also, the requestioned Laranthyran fleets are on their way, but will they get here (Kythshara - in the purple Loralar nebula) in time? So much and so many maybes for Tef to answer in the next few chapters, ... like you, I can scarcely wait, .... what will or will not occur? ... (I still think Tom Walker will break jail at some point) ;-) TTFN I would not mind a little discussion on TSM goings on, ... or at least some talk about the shower scandal! ;-) TTFN

(I still say, Jailbreak), ... and what Grand Engineering Overlord and Tef Technology improvements will we see in chapters #161 and #162- for the Invictus, for the Raptor? (Perhaps a short - 10 meter - Quantum Flux Cannon for the Raptor's main guns), I do like that they 'fixed' the wormhole generator, ... I also expect to see Sakura's or John's rune-blades drain the psychic power from Gahl'kalgor, allowing his capture rather than his death, ... Valeria is up in the air for me, could go either way, ... And what's been happening with that Olympus trio, Lynette, Charles and Lina? ,,, And Might Edraele send a ship or two to rondeaux with the Invictus carrying the supplies that our heroes are short on: Warheads, Crystal Alyssium, and ship safe, bio-degradable toilet paper, etc. And will the requestioned Fleet get there in time? And when does Dana get to see the Trankaran Star Forges? ... stay tuned for a new chapter either late this month or early in the next, (just guessing), ... thoughts, comments? ;-) TTFN

.205: there has been some speculation regarding Tef, that he, might be, this month be thinking of dropping two smaller chapters (approximately 5K words each), basically splitting #161 into two halves, ... then he might need another placeholder chapter (#163) for income, ... might he do another two small size chapters (approximately 5K words apiece again) in April? ... then back to normal? Perhaps, .... this is just guessing, but it would let him catch-up, ... ;-) TTFN

ha ha I can hear the gnashing of teeth and wailing from here - but as long as I get my 160 tonight I will keep the faith and rejoice. I keep thinking if it don't fit don't force it just relax and let it go just cause that's how you want it doesn't mean it will be so.... Tef you know the angst but if your advance viewing of the chapters are as high quality as they have been to date you will keep some of your following - if a diminishing one.... still

Tefler, hope Tom's trial is going to have a significant impact on the TMS universe because it's one of those boring side stories that I would just skip, If I could. And you're going to break the invasion action with these filler? Can we have the Galkiran invasion, and deal with the boring trial at the end?? You could use one of those "rewinding the clock a few hours, on another part of the galaxy... " Happy new year🎉!!

You said the ending of 160 was grim. I ignored the warning and wow. At first I had hopes that Tom was going to make it out alive and innocent. Now I'm not so sure on the first part. I'm okay with whatever plan you have for Tom. I hope it's worth it. Btw do you plan to write any "meanwhile" scenes with the Kirrix? I'm curious what they meant when they asked Ghal'kalgor? About the treaty? What treaty? The one made with John, that instance or was there one made with BBEG? 🤔

I started reading this chapter but had to stop during the trial section. The whole Kintark fighters in battle make 0 sense and it's destroying my immersion. I will wait until the inevitable corrections are made.

So what you're saying is that you'll post three chapters this month? Two to catch up on the two pre-charges and a third one for the inevitable Chapter 163 charge at the end of the month? Because that's what caught up means. It means that you charge for a chapter *WHEN* *YOU* *DELIVER* *IT*. This isn't Kickstarter. We're not supposed to be paying in advance for some notional future product.

The thing is, Tefler isn't your standard patreon user. He's not an artist trying to get his work out there, or some e-girl showing her naughty bits. This is an individual with a family, who quit their normal job to write a porn story. Gotta pay the bills and its not like it's a real lucrative field where he can get side money. He makes what we pay him. If he gets a couple dollars early so he can feed his kids... that shouldn't be a problem. If it is, maybe you need to redirect what you are doing with your time and money.

Michael56Smith defend him and his over a year of precharge and delay release all you want under the guise of him taking care of his family. I have a family I take care of too. The fact remains he is charging for work he doesn't have done and that's a shitty thing to do every month for over a year. I will say again that if he can't keep his family taken care of on this stories actual releases then maybe he should go back to his day job and release the chapters when he finishes them. I have nothing against the man personally just his practice of borrow now and work later to feed his family. No other creators I follow and support do the same!
