Hey everyone,

I've been suffering some ongoing health issues recently, so I've been in and out of hospital trying to get them diagnosed. Apparently the pain/jaundice/nausea/vomiting etc was caused by gall stones, one of which is now blocking a bile duct.

I've got an MRI lined up, then a couple of surgeries, so I'm hoping I'll be fully recovered soon.

Best wishes,

Tefler

Thoughts and prayers on a quick and full recovery.

Jd

Hey better soon.

Dekoth

Having had gall stones that blocked a bile duct and resulted in my gall bladder being removed, I can attest to just how much pain it is. That said, it only took a couple Xray's to confirm and a day surgery 24 hours later to remove. After 24 hours at home I was back to work because it is only 3 small holes. Being blunt, your doctors suck if they think they need an MRI and multiple surgeries for a procedure that has been understood and easily dealt with for decades.

Pat White

Get better my brother

Azwiz

Hi Tef . Been there . My choices were , keep the gal bladder and diet the rest of my life . Or lose the gal bladder and eat anything I want . I chose the latter . They did it by laparoscopy . 15 years later I still eat what ever I want .

Ramen4life

I hope everything works out for you in the end. We're rooting for you.

IT__guy

I hope you're on the mend an feeling better soon!

I'm sure it's hard to focus on a complicated multilevel plot while you feel terrible. Take the time to recover so we can all enjoy how this tale plays out.

Cornbread

Good luck Tefler, listen to your doctors and get well soon.

Ryan OPIE

Do what you need and get better soon. Best wishes for a good recovery.

AzureReader

You don’t do anything half ass Tef. Only you could get conjunctivitis, need molar surgery, and get gall stones all at the same time. Wear a helmet because you’re due for a concussion. Most of all, please get better!

Cignal

Tefler, I know you are going to need additional funds. Place another place holder if you need to and we can wait till you get better. Best wishes, get well and take care of yourself and your family.

Evan

Best wishes to you for a speedy and complete recovery, Tefler.

Big Orca

Sounds like a stint will be added, as well as maybe gall bladder removal. I’ve experienced gall bladder pain, it was awful. Hope the surgery is successful and you get well soon.

I suspect he will be out for a week after surgery. Wife had gall bladder removed and she was up and going in a week. However, his health issues may be more severe. But, whenever he starts back, he should shorten his chapters till he catches up. Less stress on him. And no, there is no mandatory chapter length. Tefler wants to do at least 20k, but there is no mandate to do so.

Michael56Smith

.49: Take care, and get well soon, .... And thanks for the update, .... I expect you will need a Placeholder for TSM #163 late this month, ... ;-) TTFN

arbi

Good luck Tef, hope you feel better soon!

Bigfoot

Hoping your health improves. Feel better, kind sir.

Aaron Yuro-Smith

Do I want a chapter? Yes. Do I think a chapter is more important than you health? Hell no! Get well soon. Come back when you are able.

Sol Tangoran

Get well soon. Come back when you are able and thanks for the update!

Aussie Rob

Hooray for the NHS (or your private insurer)! Hope they can get you back to fighting fit form in short order.

Evilebob

@Teff thanks for the updates. Hoping your procedures go smoothly.

Rich C

Having had a kidney stone which blocked the outlet of the kidney I feel your pain and understand how it impacts your life. Take care and hope you’re feeling better soon.

Give us what you have for 161 and call it complete...Get a placeholder so you get paid....then make up two short chapters next month. Make it up to us later.

Robster

So now we can expect a new placeholder.. just unbelievable... this much unfortune piling up at one man.... month after month... .. yup UNBELIEVABLE..

Artulo

Get better soon. Problematic gallbladders are usually removed with laparoscopic surgery. This is usually a day surgery procedure unless there are complications.

PLRus--Founding member of the TSM F5 club.

Actually, Artulo, if his Gall Bladder has been acting up...it is quite believable that he has been suffering from it for quite some time. Abdominal pain after eating, Heartburn, Acute Cholecystitis, Nausea and vomiting, Indigestion, Yellowish skin and eyes, Oddly colored stools and urine, Biliary colics, Pain in your back or chest, Fever, Abdominal tenderness, and Lasting abdominal pain.

gearhead10

Hoping for a quick recovery, been there, done that! Know the pain. Docs kept telling me that it was a hyenial hernia at the opening to the stomach. Took them 8 years to figure it out. Typical military docs. Same thing, stone (large one) blocking the bile duct. They had to remove the gall bladder as it was ready to attack the rest of me! Get well soon!

Chris

Hi Tefler, I hope you get better soon and won’t have to endure all that pain anymore. Fingers crossed!

2MACDR

Sending well vibes and wishes to you Tefler. Get better soon.

Vijay

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Alan

My wife has had gallstones. It was a slow process to get it diagnosed and treated :( Best wishes.

CJ Mora

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Bp Hlpt

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Tefler. :)

thomas poulsen

get well soon dude gallstones are the worst, speaking from experience!

The Professor

Thanks for the update. Get well soon.

JEM

Hey guys, this well and truly sucks and I know we all wish “Mr T.” the best. But he has bills to pay, and while I don’t enjoy when he’s behind on stories he’s billed, this is entirely different. Like the crew of the Invictus, this is now a matter of family, not commerce. Does anyone know how I can add a onetime gift on Patreon? I figure I can afford $25. I encourage the rest of you to consider something as well.

Raphe

Gall stones? Don't let them remove the gall bladder! I miss being able to eat greasy jummy food without having to run to the bathroom 5 minutes later. Tho I don't miss the pain those stones caused, those can cause some real... Well... pain. Best of luck.

1 Hand Slapping

am a week away from my pre-op telephone appointment before having the same treatment., good luck

Palanova

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Cassandra Wren

Get well soon Tefler, sending healing hugs 🤗 and strength to those around you to help you with the recovery.

Alex Wright

Hope all goes well. Had this OP many years ago, but surgery is not as invasive as it used to be. Been fine since. Take care.

Newnotsure

Ya gall stones now done through a small hole I think

Garmeister

The ER is not fun. Hospital stays are not fun. Just went through it for both myself and my wife this past week. Both of us had appendicitis. Yikes, what are the odds at the same time? Thanks for taking the time for an update and sending good wishes you recover quickly.

Walter Davis

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

TexanInParis

Better to get the gallstones removed than to continue to suffer. Hope your surgery goes well.

Big D Daddy O

All the best for you Tef. My mom had gallstones a few years ago, they wrecked her. But once they’re taken care of, life gets better. Hang in!

Chaucer

Sorry to hear that Teff. Here’s to a safe surgery and a speedy and full recovery! Best wishes!

darkuncle

Had my wife in the ER for the same thing years ago, her health improved dramatically after the surgery. Good luck Tef.

Jim Herrera

Sending you positive energy; you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!

Vince

Gall stones. You need to change your diet Tefler. The NHS will not tell you this like Dr. John Campbell has mentioned about their lack of clarity on this 3 year pestilence issue. You need to drink half you weight in water each day.

Vince

You need to get off of eating red meat so much and get some sunshine for Vitamin D even on cloudy days. High fat, fried foods are really bad. Your liver is fighting off many toxins. Are you eating a lot of over refined breads, etc.? Wheat and rye are good bread substitutes.

Thanatos95

i feel your pain tefler, having gall bladder issues myself. the docs are about to talk to me about removal. i hope you feel better.

BgB

My gall stone issues persisted even after the removal of my gall bladder. Ursodiol (basically synthetic bile) taken twice a day before eating has kept them from returning for a decade, with no side effects.

Johnboy

I’m sorry to hear. I wish you a swift recovery.

MVFast

Hope you get better soon. If at all possible, don’t let them take it out. Here’s a quote from the Mayo Clinic website “If you have gallstones that require treatment, discuss proven treatment options with your doctor, such as surgical removal, bile salt tablets or sound wave therapy.” If possible, surgery should always be LAST option, not the first. Stone removal instead of gall bladder removal is probably much more effort for doctor, but better for you.

GDay (FMS)

Sending you POSITIVE vibes and support, I hope that it all goes well and you have a speedy and smooth recovery. Write when you feel better and up to it, your loyal supportive fans will still be here.

Steven

We also send you our best wishes on a speedy recovery and better health. Though ours are a bit selfish also. We really miss our 900 lb kitty. Mou!

Chris Phillips

Best Wishes! The Ladies need their bellies/butts/etc properly filled and without your expertise, we've been sadly lacking...

IanBio

Well done for updating before the end of the month Tefler. I was about to unsubscribe before being charged again for undelivered chapters but will now stick with you. Really really best wishes for your recovery. Take your time getting back into the flow. I at least will be patient.

Trimtab

Oh man that sucks... I've been there with gallstones, stay strong Tef! Best wishes for a smooth treatment and a fast recovery!

Chris taz

best wishes for fast recovery

A Human

best wishes Tefler, hope the docs get you fixed up and feeling 100% again!

AzureReader

Tef-why not release 161 part 1. You said you were half done a month ago. Assuming you haven’t written a word in a month it should still be half done. We’ll take it!

Season

Lots of writers have a word count idea, and or certain scenes planned for an update then flesh out those hard points to get word count up. He might have half the word count and 3 of 6 hard points covered but they might not mesh into a story or postworthy content. Writing is hard fucking work. Still I really dislike the early charging. I hope you get better Tefler and feel better as well, I do love what you have posted and have for years, but I sure as hell dislike how you have handled things with the precharging.

Michael Saunders

Please take care of your health for your family

Chester Orland

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Tef.

Brent Evans

Hang in there. Get well.

Nick Jo

Get well soon Tef

commatoes

Get well soon. De-motivators suck when trying to be creative.

TF007

So I hear the asylum has open rooms. I think the Tefler-maniacs need to make a comeback tour. What do you you think Michael and Tony?

Michael56Smith

.152: okay, ... back to my 'Kool-Aid' stash, .... I have to drive away the pain and emptiness of no new TSM chapter(s), .... SMH, ... so sad, ... ;-) TTFN

Jester

I hope your healing well and that your family is healthy and safe. I look forward to more of this great story
