法拉利42年始終如一❓｜一日一 F1｜第三季（4/30） (Patreon)

二〇二三年八月寫碩士論文嗰陣，唔知點解，就係被 James Hunt 以下呢句評論觸動心深處。

1981 BBC F1 英國站 colour commentator、前世界冠軍 James Hunt 話：「We've got a situation now with the Ferraris almost like jokers in the pack because the Ferrari chassis is not good. It's not up to the standard of the others but they're making up for it with terrific power of their engines.」

當時我唔明自己點解好有feel。我係鍾意法拉利跑車，但我唔係捧法拉利F1車隊喎。我係覺得 James Hunt 好瀟灑，但我又唔係當佢偶像丫。我唔明。所以，淨係寫低個感覺 —— 即係標題嘅「法拉利42年始終如一？」

直到四個月後嘅今日，一路寫、一路諗...... 喔❓

原來，我鍾意嘅係呢位 F1 世界冠軍車手嘅「有嗰句 講嗰句」。因為快人快語，所以令我痛快。我無 fact check，但今時今日嘅 Sky Sports 嘅 F1 世界冠軍專家評論 Nico Rosberg、Jenson Button 同埋 Damon Hill 應該都無好似 James Hunt 咁狠但真、講出殘酷真相。

二〇二二同二三呢兩年，其實點止法拉利。套用 Hunt 嘅說法，根本就係另外九隊都「幾乎係小丑」，因為佢哋嘅「底盤唔夠好」、「佢哋嘅底盤唔啱 standard 但就靠......」乜乜乜補番。有趣嘅係，就算今日 Hunt 翻生，我估佢都唔會一次過插曬九隊。點解？應該不用解釋啩？車手評述嗰陣嘅風險回報比例？但係吓吓計嘅話，又點樣破格贏呢？幾時計、幾時唔計？就係收放。點計、準唔準、執行力高？就係專業。

咁...一九八一年嘅法拉利 F1 車其實有幾小丑呢❓

原來，根據一九八六出版嘅書《Grand Prix Greats》引述當年（一九八一）過檔法拉利、連 Adrian Newey 第一份工都係跟佢做 aero、同埋學 ground effect 嘅 Harvey Postlethwaite（下圖）話：“That car, the original [Ferrari] 126C turbo had literally one quarter of the downforce that, say Williams or Brabham had.

“It had a power advantage over the Cosworths for sure, but it also had massive throttle lag at that time. In terms of sheer ability I think Gilles was on a different plane to the other drivers. To win those races [the 1981 GPs at Monaco and Jarama] - on tight circuits - was quite out of this world. I know how bad that car was.”

如果 Postlethwaite 無作大，Ferrari 126C (1981) 只係得同年車隊總冠軍 Williams 及總亞軍 Brabham 四份一下壓力的話，咁首先，韋侖諾夫（Gilles Villenevue）贏到一九八一年摩納哥同西班牙站就真係神奇、頂級、超卓。同時有理由相信，點解 Hunt 可以咁狠、直播話拉利架車係笑話呢？因為外號「博士（The Doc）」嘅 Postlethwaite 可能就係消息來源。

其實，Hunt（下圖左二）同 Postlethwaite（下圖右一） 一早認識。

一九七五年 Hunt 喺荷蘭 Zandvoort 贏得處子分站冠軍（下圖），佢揸嘅車 Hesketh 308B（下圖二）就係出自Postlethwaite 手筆。事實上，Hunt 職業生涯首三季嘅戰車（March 731、Hesketh 308 及 308B），Postlethwaite 都有份設計。到一九八一年 Postlethwaite 轉隊法拉利，如果 Hunt 想知架法拉利解咁廢嘅話，唔知可以問邊個呢😏。

咁法拉利是咪四十二年始終如一❓

綜觀約四十年後再嚟嘅新 ground effect 年代、以呢兩年計嘅話，應該唔係法拉利最「小丑」。以二〇二二同二三年計嘅話，最「小丑」嘅車應該係...... 連咸美頓同 Toto 都想丟...... 掉嘅嗰架。不過，我真係唔知 W13 定 W14 小丑啲喇～有趣💡。
