December Dev Notes III (Happy Early Christmas!) (Patreon)

Sup yall!

Added in a small choice where you help Aurelian come to terms with the new changes that are coming. The six month time skip didnt mention it because I also didnt wanna stick too much time there as it would only add in fluff that doesnt bear much consequences and i'd only be able to add in background info which I'm already doing that alot of. The six month timeskip works both to progress time and narrative as it'll account the travel time needed for Master Feren to travel across the continent, so the choice group will mention Aure's hesitation and fear in regards to Lady Valerie (and you if your Champion is an older sister) not having time for him as before.

Of course, this means that the two choice groups will have different scenes depending on the Champion's sex.

I know some players may want more "freedom" as in possibly telling Aurelian to "toughen up" here, but that will not be possible until after the Caravan Attack. (Plus the boy is two and a half years old, let him have happy memories of his older brother/sister first)

After the Caravan Attack, the Champion will be far more "free" in their responses and actions (as in, willingly being ruthless and not empathetic). After all, it makes narrative sense as to why the Champion may begin to behave more differently after such a traumatic experience. Either theyre lashing out or forcing themselves (and those around them) to "grow up".

Plus more angst, so yay for me!

The rest is still the same as the previous dev notes said to be honest, dont wanna give too much away since it's the introduction of so many new characters that'll impact the story, like Count Rageon.

As for why it took six months for Master Feren's party to arrive, is due to logistic and financial reasons, sprinkled in with a bit of common sense. The journey from Jelay to Argent is an Odyssey in of itself, and you'd want to have alot of protection.

Master Feren's being recommended from Queen Khari (Princess Amina's mother) means special privileges, such as traveling in a galley but guarded by biremes.

We're gonna use Assassin's Creed Odyssey for this to help visualize.

(You can honestly use the Athenian ships as a stand in and replace the Owl with a Wolf and keep the rest. It'd work perfectly for visualization of Argent's own navy.

Since the biremes were already going, why not take advantage of the opportunity to use the journey (and the many ports of call) to establish diplomatic and economic contracts? After all, Master Feren isn't traveling straight from the port of Jelay to the port of Blackwall in one go! His party is making numerous stops, both for rest, and for sightseeing and moneymaking.

After that scene, youll find out there's some surprise guests arriving with Master Feren, after all, the fleet that left Jelaytha is by far going to be an excellent opportunity to travel to distant Argent safely with other people. This means people that'd normally never travel to Argent beforehand. And Master Feren's fleet picked up alot of people...

The third update this month will release to 10k-12k words. It'll be another horizontal update (wide, lots of choices and such) instead of a vertical one (deep that progresses narrative and story along). So that means if you want to really get that word content's worth, you'll have to save at a certain point (I'll tell you where like before) and choose different choices to see what else is hidden.

After this update comes around, the one after that will be a code update that brings in the Relationships tab in the Stats menu to help you guys keep track of who's who as youll be introduced to alot of new characters. With the inclusion of the Relationships tab, the variables to account for a character's opinion of you will be included as well, meaning you can fuck up relations with people depending on what you do and say. 

Which is great! Because the plan to keep the "set up" for the rest of the game within 100k words is moving smoothly!!!!

I honestly would love to release more supplemental content, but with what time I have, I really only have time for the main game. I'm hoping the consistent updates are making up for the lack of other goodies. Yall know how it is this time of year, prepping for relatives, cleaning up the house, workplace sprinting to finish projects before the long holiday break starts and etc. When your holiday break happens though, I hope you guys enjoy yourselves! This year has sucked lol
