Sup guys!

Obviously, this won't be as heavy as the last Progress Report, especially since I want to keep spoilers low enough to keep you guys excited.

After all, the current work ahead of us is the main game itself again!

EDIT: I forgot to mention, we are 12k+ already for this update.

The work I've done so far is focusing about 2k words on the aftermath of the two previous main splits (that being Uriel's and Adelina's).

It hurts my soul to know you guys will only see about 300 words of that, because of how spread out those 2k words are across the different versions... but...

It's 100% worth it. It feels like im offering an actual unique experience for the player when I do these splits and different scenes. I probably won't do as much for my next project, but for KaE? Always worth my best effort.

I'm also setting variables up to give minor different scenes depending on whether you were with Amina (so that she introduces Zera to you) or not (in which you're introduced to both of them at the same time).

The previous version of what you get up to in the Master Feren visit (that being the North, West, East, and South exploration trees) will be mostly changed. The code and structure will remain, but with all these new characters, faster pace and tighter narrative, I'm bringing plots and scenes that would've occurred later in the story to the forefront.

Our parent's branches had a different focus to what is going to be the focus now.

  • Queen Khari's history and relationship with our mother, however subtly that may have been presented, was the focus character wise. Narratively, it was the trade deal, which will have a domino effect in the future no matter if you were in the room or not cause both queens already knew what would be decided.

  • Our father's relationship and history with Count Rageon, and the style of his kingship in accordance to his friendships/vassals was the main focus there character wise. Narratively, the future impact our decisions made here will reverberate throughout our childhood as we see the domino effects taking place. And if you didn't participate, you will also see the consequences -good or bad- that will transpire.

The focus now, is Amina and Zera tagging along with you while you guys explore. Learn more about one another, each other's likes and dislikes, plus their world view.

Also, to show why I need you to save when i tell you to, it is so that you can easily continue from where you left off, and if you save at the very end, it may break since that "The end" will be a whole new page with different code in it lol

The above is 2k words, here and there.

As you can see below, the actual exploration is over 10k words at the moment, however please be aware that most of this is draft work. It will likely expand once I begin adding in the actual interactivity.

Also, I made the decision to let the Champion explore only two branches.

One seems too restrictive.

Two seems just right for replayabilty.

All seems too linear.

And, after this, the Champion will begin one of three childhood routes!

We will first be either in the Prince or Princess Routes, and once we reach eight years old, we will have the choice to become a Squire or not. At which point, Reputation and Faction allegiances will be introduced as the Noble and Militant Factions will approve of a Squire Champion, whereas the Commoner and Mercantile Factions will approve of you continuing your more administrative focused Prince/Princess upbringing.

That's enough for now. I hope by the time the next Progress Report arrives next Sunday, I'll have released or am close to releasing the next update!
