Progress Report for Epilogue (Patreon)
Content
Sup guys, ill be detailing the major changes I did to the game while working on the Epilogue for the Childhood Arc.
Alongside some polishing, fixing up spelling and grammar errors. I also went back and made transitions from branches smoother. Hopefully you dont notice that, cause thats the point lol!
First major change. Like said before, I have added three years to our MC's age by the time Master Feren visits with the Jelaythans. This also helps the timeline of Adelina sending the letter to ask for a Master-Scholar, the scholars debating who should go, and Queen Khari sending the letter back giving the okay. It also help give Queen Khari time to do the logistics necessary to embark on a long expedition as this one. Not just that, it gives realistic time enough for our parents to do their geopolitical moves. Because of this, I had to go back and fix up references to our age lol. I found quite alot of spelling and grammar issues as a result of this venture!
I have also made the births of Percivel and Julianna occur already. Adelina was already pregnant when traveling to Blackwall, and she gave birth less than a year later after arriving. Thus, MC is 6, Aurelian 4, and the twins 0 at that point in time. When Master Feren visits, MC is 8, Aure is 6, and the twins are 2.
The scene goes differently depending on whether or not MC was born with black hair or not.
Changed the wording so that Themiel and Cassiel are Aurelian's friends and not precisely yours. I know some readers dont like having friendships forced on them, and i think this helps.
Added in Relationship entries for Sarilia, Mother Janiel, Lady Charmel, Cassiel, Themiel, Percivel, Julianna, and Lady Valerie. I still need Sir William, Lady Cassandra, Queen Khari, Amina, Zera, Count Rageon, Squires Philiel and Cariel, Baraka, Leksha, Gane, and so so many more. I had to give up and instead just rip descriptors and passages ingame and stuffed them into their profiles so i can use that to make em later. Example:I really wish I could make hyperlinks work in-game AND reliably, and use the wiki I made so that you can click on a character's name and see the relevant information on them. It's simply too time consuming as it is however, and I'd only begin work on that once I have a lifetime subscription to World Anvil so there isnt a recurring cost. A solid week will have to be dedicated to the Relationships Tab, and that's a week I cant afford atm.
Added in a variable tracker that keeps score of how similar you look to paternal granny (thanks Ari and Bessie for reminding me to add!) Hitting a score of two (skin tone/features and hair color) will get you special Remiel scenes, of which we'll see in the epilogue! Not hitting two will not result in a special scene. Choosing to look more like Adelina will also result in not getting a two. Choosing black hair will also result in not getting a two. Choosing Juliette as your name will get you different special scenes that are not related to this variable. Example of this occurring in small scenes:
And as for the actual new content itself, i have come to the realization that Epilogues will probably be a month long work in the future. The various variables I have to bring back to the fore, their consequences, their secret little scenes they unlock is busywork. It isnt difficult, but it does get repetitive for me to work on. Youll see what I mean if you go into the code and see the different *if statements made lol, anyways, here's what we got!
Already, having the ages bump up gives me more freedom to mess with Aurelian's scenes too
Let's pick the first choice, as always in these Progress Reports
Julianna don't play bout her hair foo
Now come the "adults" who get shit done. Mother Janiel and Sir William come inside and on order of your mother, they come to warn you. You also get some information about the church if you want to learn more.
Let's get the most obvious question some of you may have out of the way, and choose "I thought my father was already king?"
BOOM, to explain things a bit more clearly, and this will be discussed ingame; your father has mostly been recognized as the Crown Prince outside of the Crownlands and by the Noble Faction. He's been king in the eyes of the Royal Faction however. Especially since it was known that he was suppose to take over soon after the Lymarkian Invasion, but our upcoming birth changed plans. Remiel, being a softie (cause of history of course), wanted Uriel and Adelina to enjoy a sabbatical and stay away from the court for a few years. But Uriel came back not to the capital, but Blackwall. Now, grandpa is kinda forcing Uriel to accept the crown and responsibilities due to the changing geopolitical landscape. We'll see more of what that means later in further down the progress report.
We finally meet the Silver Wolves again!
Let's remind them that Sir William's a day one.
Captain Jorel's gonna be a pretty chill dude outside of combat, though he has that scar for a reason...
We're gonna skip forward a few hundred words and get straight to the ceremony.
You can be a Princess Diana, you can not give a fuck and just make sure your siblings are alright, you can have a small panic attack and then reassert control over yourself, or you can straight up sit like royalty. Ill let yall choose what you want when you get here.
THE ARCHPRIESTESS! We finally get to meet her! We never been able to in the previous versions, but im changing it so that we can catch a glimpse of the Church at work in KaE.
REMIEL! Something interesting to note. As many of you may know, KaE has something called A'lum that is only visible to Awakened individuals. "Curiously" our Champion is able to perceive it on a fundamental level that isn't visible to the eye. Instead we can "feel" something is different. Hence why our Champion feels that "danger" from Sir William, the Templars, and the Silver Wolves. Uriel also has it, but we've gotten so used to him we don't realize that our father is exuding A'lum as well. But Remiel, as someone who uses an A'luthean (Blessed Armor), has a massive amount that practically overwhelms the A'lum of other Awakened. The same is true for Emperor Otto. Think Aura vs Frieren from Beyond Journey's End when visualizing differences between normal Awakened vs A'luthean Awakened. And that's when they're not using the A'luthean. As detailed in the article I linked, "A’luthean Armor on the other hand, when seen by other Awakened, manifests differently in comparison to what non-Awakened see. To an Awakened, the color of the sky changes, and the A'lum surrounding the user expands dramatically. When in close proximity to the Awakened who activates their A'luthean Armor, the A'lum emanating from the user is so heavy to the point it almost suffocates other nearby Awakened, temporarily overwhelming them."
Now im gonna skip another few hundred words. There's stuff in there that shouldn't be spoiled in a Progress Report!
there's alot in here that youre not supposed to know yet. Northern Sanctuary, Sacred Vanir, the massacre of the children of House Morven. These are all things that'll become clear as we keep playing the game. But for now, you just need to know you didnt miss anything! Just a case of "youre a fucking child, of course they wouldnt tell you about slaughters"
But anyways, just know that this attack on the Northern Sanctuary is the catalyst of many political moves the church is doing in conjunction with our parents/Remiel. The church is WORRIED this happened. So worried in fact...
They petition your father for three things
1) Permission to operate in Northern Argent and hunt down the V'era. (We also see some interest tidbits about our house and Sacred Vanir!)
2) Sir William's induction to the Templars! That's what has been bothering our normally goofy and smiling knight this entire time! He'll be sure to fit right in, and bonus fun fact! The Templar with graying blonde hair is his uncle, Brother Renfred Raymond!
3) The biggest favor of them all, to reestablish diplomatic ties with the Kingdom of Kayzack! The church is stepping in as mediators and personally asking Argent to hear Kayzack out. Something the Belthean Empire does not want to happen. Hence, the Ambassador's interruption.
But we're not sitting idly by, in fact we get to say our piece!
Let's do the first choice, and see what's inside:
The above shows you what you can say if you went to the Jelaythan meet, influencing what you might use to debate the ambassador with! And we get to have a small snippet of our name perhaps having a change at the end (Garland, Daerin, Otto, Annabeth). Also mom is beside herself laughing at that little dig you did at the end lol
BUT if you did not meet with the Jelaythans with mom, you're going to have a much harder time of debating the ambassador.
Very specific variables will allow you to get out of this on top, specifically, youll have had to have met Michael oikos Rhodos, and seen him in your exploration of the north, where you find out he's been working as a translator for the work crews!
Because you met the specific conditions, you also gain an extra boost to Politics (+10, the code has been changed to be plus ten), and win the debate against the ambassador!
Having ONLY met Michael however, you will only gain a stalemate that's broken by your mother who uses your age to make everyone laugh and move on.
Ouch. Points for trying though, right?! At least it won't be as bad as the next one...
Now for the final version that'll probably be viewed by most people if they don't qualify for the other two versions:
Yall ever speak up, and quickly realize "oh fuck idk wtf im talking about"? This is that.
Now, as you can tell from the above... this whole choice section is taking me a while. I go back to it each day and try finishing up a branch/section and continue on so i dont get with burn out from rewriting different versions lol.
That's all for now folks, don't wanna spoil it all! Just wanted to share progress and give yall some heads up. I'm aiming for a weekend drop. Only thing left for Epilogue Part 1 is finishing up the above choice section, and the transition.
