2024 Plans & Retrospective (Patreon)

I hope everyone had a fantastic New Year and holiday season!

Now that we're about a week into 2024, I'd like to do a post looking back on a few things from the previous year, as well as detailing my plans for this upcoming year.

The Previous Year

2023 was quite eventful, mostly as a result of launching my second project: Rebel Duet. I was always interested in developing a second, more story-driven game, but held off for a couple years as Casual Desires was still in its early phases. In truth, while the initial reveal and launch of Rebel Duet filled me with a great deal of anxiety, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made, as I am now the happiest I've been since entering the adult games industry.

There's a part of me that loves light-hearted and raunchy content, and a part of me that loves darker storytelling and fantasy settings. Being able to rotate between the two projects has been a huge blessing, as it's allowed me to feel constantly refreshed and excited to work on new content.

While there's been a little bit of resistance, overall, I would say that Casual Desires fans have been incredibly supportive of the decision to work on two projects - and for that I am extremely grateful. ❤️

The Next Year

There's a lot of big things planned for 2024! Most notably, Rebel Duet and Casual Desires will both be coming to Steam. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done, but my goal is to have Rebel Duet launch into Early Access in June or July, and Casual Desires two or three months later - provided the process goes smoothly.

For Casual Desires, the Steam launch will require a special update of its own, improving and expanding much of the older content, and adding in new features such as the long-requested Scene Gallery!

For Rebel Duet, the plan is to have Act 2 finished - and ideally Act 3 underway - by the time the game launches on Steam. So, I would expect either the 0.9 or 0.10 release to coincide with the Steam launch.

Of course, both games will continue to receive their regular updates at a steady pace over the course of the year. Casual Desires will be getting deeper into its third and climactic act, while Rebel Duet will also enter its third story arc (out of 7 total planned) which will be its darkest and most ambitious yet.

On a more personal note, I will be moving from Canada to Japan around the middle of the year. As I'll be on a spouse visa (and ideally Permanent Residency after a few years), I'll be able to work on game development full-time in Japan. After the move, I'll also - finally - be able to assemble a new desktop workstation. This means a higher amount of images, and more complex scenes (such as those involving many characters at once) that can be rendered!

Anyway, this is just a small taste of what to expect in 2024. I hope you enjoyed reading, and that you are excited for the future of Casual Desires and Rebel Duet.

To start off the year, v0.6 of Rebel Duet will be releasing in just a couple weeks!
