Fun Fact - What actually happened to Tosen was something called " Soul Suicide" which happens via the process of hollowfication which is what Aizen gave to Tosen. Aizen's decision to hollowfy Tōsen is widely interpreted as an act of mercy, based on both Aizen's and Tōsen's ideals. ---According to the novel You Can't Fear Your Own World, Aizen knew that if Tōsen had survived, he would have been consumed by guilt and suffering over the harm he had caused, making his life unbearable. Therefore, Aizen's action was framed as a compassionate end to Tōsen's suffering, rather than a malicious killing... Tosen was atleast able to come around and see truth and light during his last moment thanks to Komamura. Komamura is the definition of a TRUE friend.
