I guess it isn't explained properly, but those people under Aizen stole a portion of Rangiku's soul to add it to ouken to make it stronger, that's what that was. Gin saw that and vowed revenge

*Edited comment* Gin, despite not being blind, was not in hypnosis so far! He was simply worried about Aizen's full skillset and cautiousness so never tried to kill him before. He needed to be in bankai state to kill him and probably never thought he could assassinate him without getting noticed. So he chose this moment when Aizen was careless and not on guard. Aizen did threaten Rangiku just now too so Gin was pushed to make his move finally.

The fact earlier episode where Gin was fighting against Ichigo, he was actually saving Ichigo's life when he asked Ichigo to run away. Because Gin knows he wasnt ready. Rewatching that scene will make you understand why Gin's purpose and goals makes him a GOATED character!
