This series is base don a history book george rr martin wrote that is written from a maesters pov on the history, so in the book there is story and then a big gap and of nothing and then more story, since its the dance of dragons slowly builds over a decade plus, The timeskips will stop soon but timeskips where needed. So dont worry you will have more time to learn names because remmeber the targaryen civil war causes the death of all the dragons and kills a bunch of targaryens, before we only had a couple targaryens and a couple dragon riders, now we have a fuck ton more targaryens and a fuck ton more dragons

the difference in this episode vs episode 1 is viserys asked the maester if the child would live, here daemon asked if the mother would live which shows the difference in their thoughts. daemon loved laena in his own way and did not want to see her die.

Never caught that contrast but yes it feels fairly obvious now. The sad part is like I'm sure he would have tried to make sure she lives by trying to kill the child and bring it out if it came to that. Maybe she was dead either way though
