You can’t steal a dragon. They are sentient, intelligent creatures that choose their own riders. They are not property or heirlooms to be simply passed down or taken. While others can attempt to capture or imprison a dragon, only a person the dragon accepts can form a true, consensual bond with it.

Vhagar thing is a bit weird but it takes insane ammounts of balls / stupidity to even try to claim vhagar, theres no gauruntee vhagar would of claimed any of laenas children, dragons have been known to have their riders die and then never find another conenction

GodUsopp

you guys know Vhagar from the histories and lore videos, Vhagar was there during Aegons conquest, so not only is it the biggest because of how old it is, Vhagar has also seen the most combat

Daemon laughed to support his family. The guy was mocking the kids being bastards and making a scene so he made one back and dared him to say anything directly, just as he was doing

Do not get me wrong: I like Rhaenyra as a chracter and I would support Rhaenyra's claim to the throne. But there are just to less character traits that support Rhaenyra as someone who has a goal. I like that she does not want to follow the rules but at the same time she does not really fight for something or build her skills or connections or strategy or anything. She just goes what works for the time and suits her the best at the very moment. So I do not even understand her character. I like the concept of a character that is under pressure and does not want the position that was pushed to her by her father and the circumstances yes. And I also like the concept that she slowly starts to want the thrown in the process of the show die to security and legacy reasons and the beef with alicent and family. But please give Rhaenyra some relateable and positive character traits. On the other hand I always liked Alicent since she is the more realistic character and I can relate so much more with her and think inside her head and why her relationship with Rhaenyra is iffy. Of course Alicents character traits arent as innocent as before and turn more negative but they are reasonable and explainable. And I feel with her. Rhaenyra has a nice core concept but many privileged and targaryan traits just disrupt her character for me as a viewer to relate and like. So even though I am in heart team black I feel more with team green. Overall I do not care about the team black team green thing I just want to see them interact wit each other. And overall I am very excited to see whther or not my perspective of Rhaenyra will change in the future since I also did not atch all episodes of season 1 and season 2.

Vhagar is a female dragon

the dragon thing I would say If a kid can somehow convince a dragon to choose their side or how you called it "stole it". Why not simply take it back. Not to justify stealing but I connect dragonriding with earning this privilege or at least be courageous. There is no bureacracy behind it that I wanted to say. Noone owns a dragon. i feel like the dragon chooses to follow someone due to several aspects. But me myself does not know to much about that. So just my thoughts and feeling about this topic.

I think it is normal for them if anyone from House Targaryen claim Vhagar considering it doesn't have a rider anymore. I believe it is a matter of who is brave enough to try first and able to claim it which is Aemond. Maybe that's why it wasn't a big deal for Daemon and Rhaenyra. Even Corlys and Rhaenys didn't complained because it's just how it works with House Targaryen since old Valyria.

Was all part of the plan. Rhaenyra never meant to literally kill Leanor. Daemon killed some poor servant Leanor look-alike. Ser Qarl waited for the boy witness to leave after being seen striking Leanor to tell Rhaenyra's plan for them all. Then they proceeded to a quick haircut

JDanime

Yeah true! Better way to word it would be stole the opportunity from them.. I just assumed courtesy towards the deceased rider's family

Aemond Targaryen didn’t technically steal Vhagar from Laena Velaryon’s daughters, Baela Targaryen and Rhaena Targaryen, because dragons aren’t inherited and can be claimed by anyone with Valyrian blood. However, by choosing to claim Vhagar on the night of Laena’s funeral, he acted in a way that felt deeply disrespectful and opportunistic, especially to Rhaena, who had hoped to bond with the dragon herself. So while Aemond followed tradition, his timing made it seem unfair and sparked conflict.
