Whoo boy, this one's a bit of a doozy. Regarding the Wolfman Clan; they don't really elaborate much on them outside of this episode but to summarize: they were humans who committed some pretty grave sins, died, went to Soul Society, and then as punishment were turned into werewolves (it's not really clear WHO did the transforming part) and fell into what they call the "Animal Realm" as punishment. (We don't know where this is but I'm just gonna assume it's a subdimension of hell or something) They are taken back out of the Animal Realm and basically now live on the outskirts of Rukongai. Now for the technique. There are technically two parts to it: the first half is as we're shown — you get turned into your wolfman form after ripping out your heart. You're stuck in the form and cannot die. There's no going back. The second half (that isn't explicitly stated) deals with the motivation for using the technique itself. Because Komamura's desire for revenge against those who killed Yamamoto was so great, the "curse" condition is fulfilled and you are transformed into a beast. If Komamura's intention were less selfish (e.g. the desire to protect Soul Society, or to protect a loved one, etc.) he effectively could've stayed immortal forever and not succumb to the curse itself - which transforms you into a FULL beast. In essence, the ritual is all about sacrifice: about giving up who you are to have an invincible body that represents who you WERE, before the sins of the beast claimed your soul. By giving into revenge, by allowing selfishness to taint your sacrifice, you taint the ritual, and the body you have been granted is revoked, leaving nothing but the beast behind.

A few notes ya'll. "You became a beast that cannot speak just for me". This means that Komamura is alive, he's just stuck in doggy form now and can't speak. You can see when Iba picks him up his eyes are open and he looks sad. He's not dead. But his life as a humanoid is over. Grandpa woof woof finessed Komamura. He took advantage of him being consumed by revenge. I also want to clarify that Soul Society and the Gotei 13 are different things. I guess I'm a bit confused listening, idk if you guys were just mixing the terms "Soul Society" and "Gotei 13" interchangeably? If you were, you can't. They are two different things. Yamamoto created the military faction known as the Gotei 13. Soul Society on the other hand, the spiritual world is a place they reside in, which Yama did not create and establish. Soul King has everything to do with Soul Society existing, which is way before Yama was even born. So you are right to say he didn't "help in establishing the origins"....no, he did it on his own lol Now if you were actually talking about the Gotei 13 on the other hand, that's a different story and that's all Yama. As far as your question goes "Why are we serving him when he has done nothing for us" I think the simplest answer is to point back to episode 309 when Kisuke tells Aizen "Without the existence of Soul King, Soul Society would split apart." Bambietta's schrift is revealed as "E" "The Explode". Their "Voll Stern Dich" is their power up holy form. Quilge Opie had used his against Ichigo. Get used to seeing it. Think of it as their released forms. The outdated version of this power up is called Quincy Letz Stil, an old school power up that Uryuu had used in soul society arc. Quilge went over this back in episode 3.

Yamamoto did not create soul society, he created the Gotei 13 and the Shinigami Academy. Soul society has existed even before that for millions of years.

The hollowfied bankai is just so that it cannot be stolen and is also returned. It doesn't do anything else. Yamamoto created the Gotei 13, before that it seems that there were different shinigami military groups and schools (Yamamoto was one of them) that handled hollows and everything else. So around the time that Sasakibe got his bankai, there was no Gotei 13.
