I always tear up after that title card

Another episode which shows us things are not black and white with Quincies and Soul Reapers. The way Bambietta's ideologies are framed makes it seem like she was indoctrinated into the current Quincy set-up. Unfortunately, Komamura went through the same thing himself as his Great Elder took advantage of Komamura's urge to take revenge for Yamamoto. It might seem like one side won and the other one lost, but there were no winners this time around. We just lost another ally because of this, as Komamura lost his agency. Also, with the whole revenge aspect, every single character who sought it out ended up dying like Kaein, Gin, Tosen, Yamamoto, Ginjo, Tsukishima to an extent and now Komamura.

Except Komamura is not dead, he's just in permanent woof woof form and can't speak. It's hard to see from the side view but if you look closely when Iba picks him up his eyes are open and he has a sad expression. If you read the manga chapter it's even more clear with a front shot of his face. The only part of him that is "dead" is his life as a humanoid.

Death can take many forms. You're only looking at it through its basic form. There are people in this world, who "lives" but are dead inside. Komamura has lost his agency and in a series where identity is given so much importance, loss of agency is a form of death in this context.

Dangai Joue!!!!! For the sake of vengeance! For Yama Ji

Dragon Puncher

A common theme in Bleach (taking directly from Buddhism as many of the themes are) is that revenge will never end of paying of and will instead lead you to a dark path of destruction. We see this with many characters like Tosen, Gin and Ginjo and probably most clearly here with Komamura. One of the reasons Ichigo is a strong protagonist and on the right path for the show is that he doesn't succumb to feelings of revenge when he fights. He fights to protect and to in some ways to test himself, but not because he wants to kill his opponent for his own reasons despite how much shit they have done.
