Mad Man Moon

It seems to me that Lakan, after he got back, worked to gain more influence and get in a better position (which is also how he's made more money now), and probably took over as head of his family since doing that. He likely blamed them for sending him away therefore causing all the problems with Maomao's mom. Now in his current position as head of his family and as a successful strategist, even the Emperor regards him well - but people in the palace are still wary of Lakan (which is why the unspoken rule is "don't interact unless necessary").

And with Lishu's ladies in waiting, I agree. I hope she can get them out of there. I am happy though that her former taster (now head lady in waiting) has become her friend - even in this episode, Lishu called her by her name. She once was one of the ones bullying her but in the end became a loyal friend/lady in waiting. I have a feeling none of the other girls would be that way though.
