Toshiro seems to be fighting "better" as a zombie because there's no more restraint in his psyche. Ah, yes, Pepe the Love himself. I know Kubo is going for the 'Love is ugly sometimes' motif, but Pepe is such a trash character to even talk about that, in my opinion. Also, the reason why Pepe's Love and Nanana's Morphine Pattern did not work on Byakuya is because of the Shihakusho he was wearing. It's an Oken, which he got from Squad 0 to come through the 72-layer barrier that seperate Royal Palace and Seireitei. That's why it can repel techniques like these.

Probably my least liked episode of all of TYBW. I can't with PePe lol, and feel like things go way too fast here in general. But it's still pretty good, which just shows how high the quality is in this adaptation. And you now move into some amazing episodes. With regards to why Squad Zero didn't come down and help Seireitei in the first invasion, but is now letting the Quincy (seemingly) come up and invade the Royal Palace, it is kinda an open question with some very strong hints (that might well be explained more in cour 4). I'm not gonna spoil anything, just say that they most likely needed to give Ichigo the Royal Guard training and see if he could handle it first before committing to anything. As have been hinted in the show already Ichibei's motives might not always aline completely with the Seireitei's.

This ep indeed felt like i was watching the "original Bleach" but I think because of Mayuri mainly here because everytime he's the focus of the ep he just steals the spotlight from everybody else. lol Ep 22 and 23 are the lowest rated eps of the TYBW arc which is understandable. From here on out every ep is gonna be PEAK non-stop (not saying it wasn't before ofc) but this we getting into my favorite parts of the arc.

Byakuya went Bankai to deal with Robert, the gun guy's winged form (Volstandig form). Kyoraku was limited to shikai then, so he can be excused. He lost his eye to that winged form of Robert.

Byakuya last opponent in Hueco mundo also used a similar technique to Pepe with "love", it was just called Amor. it's like a running gig like "shikamaru always fights women" haha
