Mayuri's relationship to Nemu is a weird one. I think Devi hit it on point. It's a mad scientist dynamic more than anything. Back in soul society arc he treated her so wrong during his fight with Uryuu...but I heard Kubo dialed back Mayuri's abusiveness and felt it was too much. In arrancar arc, Mayuri did something we couldn't see to revive Nemu but everybody had the same assumptions but then told Uryuu "You people are watching with your minds in the gutter" lol. So it is definitely a weird pseudo father/creator mad scientist relationship dynamic but love is for sure a growing part of it.

I would argue that Mayuri even hast the best character arc regarding dynamic and depth especially when you look at him throughout the 3 big arcs till now TYBW.

If I were in the Gotei 13, I would go out of my way to run into Mayuri, tell him how cool he is, and be genuinely interested in what Squad 12 had going on. I feel like he'd secretly enjoy my praise, and I'd get on his good side. Also, you have to admit, Mayuri does, in fact, have martial skills, his ability to dodge all those arrows was damn good.

I'm curious how they are different from Nemu. Right now, we don't know how Jinta and Ururu were created; were they created from gigai or from nothing? The big thing about Nemu is that she was created from absolutely nothing. There is no way that Mayuri doesn't know about Jinta and Ururu (he's incredibly informed), so for him to say what he said has to mean that Nemu is fundamentally different from them. Creating new life isn't new in the SS; artificial souls like Kon exist, and they are fully functioning beings with autonomy, so I guess the big thing is what was the starting point.

All three souls were created in a lab the only difference is Nemu ability to keep on evolving. We don’t know what Jinta can do, we have seen Ururu in battle already. I just finished the first novel of CFYOW and there wasn’t really any mention of the artificial souls yet. Jinta and Ururu were younger but now obviously….
