Shonen anime main characters now forever have to have a signature blast move because of this episode , rasengan, getsugatensho, spirit gun

Please watch Dragon Ball in Japanese with English subtitles, you will understand many scenes much better. For example, Chi-Chi asks Goku, “Will you come marry me?” But Goku does not understand what marriage means. He thinks it is some kind of food or item, so he replies, “If you’re giving it to me, I’ll come get it.” That misunderstanding is an important joke that makes more sense in Japanese. There are also many scenes with Master Roshi that lose their meaning in translation. For example, when he acts interested in Bulma, he is not just trying to walk with her, he is being perverted and trying to touch her body. The Japanese version makes these intentions much clearer. That’s why I recommend watching Dragon Ball in Japanese with English subtitles.

but the voice acting is very squeaky in the original, the English dub is superior and even though it tones down perverted stuff it is still better than the sub.

The very first Kamehameha! I’ll always be very fond of this episode. I mean it is the introduction to the most iconic move in anime after all. Kame is actually Japanese for turtle, which is why it’s all over Roshi’s stuff. And the name of the Kamehameha was suggested to him by his wife I believe, inspired by the Hawaiian king Kamehameha the Great

GodUsopp

no man, the voters have spoken, no one wnats to hear that sqeaky nonsense, its not terrible in dragon ball but the subs in dragon ball z turn epic moments into trash moments

Japanese osts are levels above the english dub

I understand everyone has their own opinions around this and it's pretty divided. We've actually discussed this a long time ago whether we'd watch the dub or sub. We always said we would watch the dub mainly because Jackie grew up watching it in Dub and it was his favourite childhood show so I (Devi) wanted to experience it the way he did because I never watched it. For Bleach and Naruto, we've both seen a bit of it in dub so we opted for sub because that's usually our preference. I know there are reasons to like both but unfortunately we have to make a choice. I know not everyone will agree but I hope you respect our decision. We're loving the show so far 😊
