Displeased with her conduct at the party in Knossos, Handler elects to teach Handler Kione Monax a lesson about how much she still has to lose

Here we are! The second part of Archon - although there will be a very brief epilogue of sorts coming soon. I hope you all enjoy it! Fans of Kione and Radio Girl especially. I know many of you were clamouring for more glimpses into their relationship, and I had a lot of fun fleshing it out. There's plenty more of that here, as well as plenty for the Mirror Shine fans amongst you. And as you can probably tell from the summary, this takes place after the events of SHOWHOUND

Enjoy!

GOD brutal. If I were Kione I'd start planning the murder-suicide

Amynta is becoming my favourite pov character, seeing how much her perspective has changed between now and the last chapter is heartbreaking. i almost feel bad for Kione at the end, especially with the confirmation that in her own twisted way she was trying (and now failing) to protect Amynta 😭

AAAAAAAA GODS. *GAWDZ.* This hit so good. Kione and Amynta as a duo are a sad, sweet match, to the point that this almost- ALMOST- feels like this is the first time we've got something that maybe isn't Bad End. I MEAN I KNOW IT IS BUT STILL. When Kione called out for Amynta as “my Radio Girl” I just about lost it bawling my eyes out. 😭 Obviously Kione is a terrible awful loser but this might be the first time since very early on in RESCUE HOUND that I felt truly bad for her. And Puppy just wanted so bad to make her happy!! I'm not really much of a boot/leather person in terms of kink, but that let me really enjoy the prose and imagery of this installment, and for what it's worth: incredible, fantastic, phenomenal work. I love how the descriptions of Handler's boot being polished by Radio-Hound combine with the effects of the Starlight here to reinforce some of the themes from RESCUE HOUND even more. Starlight is such an interesting totem to hang the thematic, narrative, and metaphysical concepts of WARHOUND on. I adore how the black abyss of Handler's boot becomes the same black sky full of stars, the same void, that we've seen referenced again and again when it comes to Original Recipe Handler. Handler is the black void of fascism made manifest and the starlight drug illuminates it almost every time it's used on-screen. For all Her skill in transforming others into empty vessels, I think that is because She is so empty inside, Herself. Starlight feels like a form of Fascist Magic. Given the connection to Handler's boots, this go around, we might even call it “Black Magic”~ I've seen a lot of WARHOUND fans talk about Handler as being cringe, and wrong, and sad. But I think it's interesting to consider the alternative: what if, in the fictional world of WARHOUND, Handler is exactly as horrifyingly powerful as She appears? What if She's right, that at the heart of us all, is the same empty nothingness as Her? Obviously, the existence of a soul or something like it is a question humanity has been asking itself since we could think at all, and we probably always will. But in *scientific* terms, with each passing year, we seem to learn more and more about the universe that suggests the universe is a rolling void of meaningless nonsense. That there is no such thing as a “soul.” Humans are just meat and bioelectricity running the most complex Operating System imaginable. It's all just meat. And if all we are is meat, then all we are is nothing, right? You can make meat obey any order you give it, if you know how. So I love how the symbolism of this part plays with this exact kind of imagery, whether intentionally or not, because it feels like we learn more about the world of WARHOUND and about Handler even in the most innocuous details. And tying that imagery so directly to leather/bootblack as a kink only heightens what makes your writing fucking sing. Crazy how different So Below feels from As Above, and yet how of a kind they are, at heart. You are truly a master of your craft, Kallie. I'm convinced you are biologically incapable of a miss. :P AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR OUR EPILOGUE, I CAN ONLY FUCKIN’ IMAGINE WHAT WILL COME OF THAT

I love Kione but Handler is right… it’s time to start working on those personality flaws. Imagine fucking up so badly your recovering-from-drugs Hound has to comfort you. One. Word. At. A. Time. I hope she learns.

Radio Girlllll😢😢😢😢😢😢😢... Gosh this is the best duo of all of Warhound. I cannot wait to keep seeing them work and suffer together ❤️💔

Sartha!!

Realised i forgot to comment here but this one was like a belated christmas present. Really exceeded my expectations. Can't tell you how delighted i was to read the tags ehehe

Well. Kione made her bed and now her chickens are coming home to roost in it. This story continues to surprise and delight me. The imagery when The Thing was happening was absolutely sublime. You have such a way with words.

TIL what insouciance means I had suspected that Handler would be a little upset at Kione for how she acted at the party, but punishing Kione by worming Her way into Amynta's head was not what I was expecting at all. Handler's ability to identify just how much Kione was shaken by losing Sartha, someone Kione loved and bonded with under her care, to Her and then replicating that in part with Amynta spoke volumes to just how insideous Handler is. She is aware of everyone's flaws and positions herself to stand ready to use them if needed. The suggestion that Kione herself was implanted with the trigger phrase was quite a twist. The collar around Kione neck became visible for just long enough for her (and us) to remember who she belongs to. Handler always looms large in the setting, but it is nice to have Her return to the spotlight and actively impose threat to characters again (after she took a mostly supportive role in SHOWHOUND). I particularly enjoyed how you wrote the brief battle of authority between Kione and Handler near the start. The sexual nature of the boot scene was (through no fault of yours) lost on me, but I did find a dark humour in Amynta having the time of her life learning how to polish a boot while Kione is just sobbing in a corner. I laughed when Handler reminded Kione that She had a whole other boot for Amynta to clean. I found it interesting that Amynta had such an instant, strong reaction to the boot polish, given Handler mentions that Kione never incorporated the act of polishing into Amynta's conditioning. That Amynta's brain (absolutely fucked on starlight drug as it was) would instantly start rewiring itself and making her hallucinate an oily smear over the world when exposed to the smell of polish alone is intriguing. Handler commenting on it, unprompted, to say that others had had a similar response suggested that something significant is going on there. Even if this is a purely isolated concept you don't choose to elaborate on further, I found the mystique of the whole thing to elevate Handler's characterisation as a near-god - something more than human. It's as if normally mundane things just gain magical properties when She chooses to use them, and I like that a lot. The ending was wonderfully horrific. What's left of Amynta choking out reassurance to Kione at her most vulnerable point, only to demonstrate just how successful Handler was, was a lovely twist of the knife. I enjoyed the fact that Kione's pronouns have now been capitalised to recognise her new title as handler, although I did find it a tad confusing on my initial read. As always, thank you for the work you produce. I hope the length of these comments doesn't get in the way of me saying that; reading what you make always leaves me with a lot of things to praise. This was a very enjoyable read, and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

horrifying and written so incredibly. You really are an incredible author! The (im assuming very intentional) cucking of kione was sickening in all the best ways!

Okay yeah this was hot as fuck hahah. I suddenly remembered you actually bought a straightjacket this summer, I wonder how that informed you writing Hound Amynta~ Dissociated doll Sartha just being barely conscious on the sidelines was already so hot to me ahaha.. poor thing. I thought the possibility that Kione is also having the Leash phrase in her head was really interesting. It's not unlikely that this wasn't true at all, but Kione *needs* to believe that she isn't like the Hounds enough that she'd rather obey than risk finding out. Handler knows that. And Handlers bluff would of course be believable enough.. so it worked. Very interesting detail. It took me such a long time to understand how this boot blacking scene would be a punishment for Kione (maybe because I don't have a taste for NTR)… but the epilogue page makes it almost tenderly clear that this is just another girl Kione can't protect from Handler... Awesome. Also the boot blacking scene was incredibly hot. I'm absolutely planning to read it to wifey or make her read it. This is alarmingly close to our irl bootblack+hypnosis sessions and it was INSANELY erotic to read how all consuming it was for Amynta. Also the way bootblacking here is taking the place of a sex scene is incredibly female gaze. Very hot how it's heightened to infinity. Awesome work ♡♡♡♡

It feels like this chapter may have been indirectly catered towards it… this is like everything it has wanted! PLEASE MORE BROKEN KIONE AND BOOTS! hehe:3

I only just read archon since it was posted on ao3 and now Amynta has to be my favorite Hound. She’s been pushed beyond her limits and what’s left is a creature with such enormous love and devotion towards her Handler that feels purer than the others. Sartha wants obliteration, Leinth wants forgiveness. All Amynta wanted was to kill Kione, and then once that is taken away all she wants is to be a good dog for the sake of being a good dog. It’s a cruel irony that despite appearing the most outwardly broken, she is probably the most successful Hound the empire has. Handler has to use powerful social manipulation on top of the conversion methods, but when Kione is finished it appears that there aren’t any desires that need to be taken advantage of.
