Here's the very last part of Archon - and it's something very different. It's very short (thank goodness!), and plays around with formatting in a way I haven't really attempted before. With that in mind, I highly advise you to read the PDF version if possible, although the alternate file formats are of course still provided and still contain the full text of the piece, so don't hestitate to turn to those if you have any issues with legibility. And let me know if you'd be interested in more of this kind of thing!

Emotionally, I'm hoping this will hit home just a little bit - especially if read immediately after the first two parts. A little triptych of what Kione Monax has ruined and lost

Enjoy! And my heartfelt thanks to Olivka for her beta readership

Oof, about what I was expecting, but still hit like a brick. What a deeply human thing to do, but also so clear that it would never get anywhere. Well done Kallie. <3

Fuck, ow, jesus. OW. Amynta Tet had the best heart of any of 'em and it shows here in such a big way. What an aching, painful, beautiful little piece. This capstone for Archon is perfect and I kinda hate you a little bit for making me cry like this Ms. Rho. 😭 But also excellent work. One can only imagine what OG Handler thought, reviewing this document, honestly.

AHHHHHH, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ONE. The formatting is really really cool, not to mention, the heartbreaking way it ended. Archon was such an incredible reading experience hehe.

This is a really solid ending. It adds so much to Amynta and in turns shows what's been lost - which I think was your aim. It's short, but I think the brevity helps the content hammer home all the harder. I really like the way this is formatted. The decision to have this piece take the form of a diegetic report let you present it in a manner that contributes to the prose significantly. The font choice for the handwritten section made it feel just that bit more personal and it contrasted well to the more dry, typewritten sections of the imperial report bookending it. Amynta inadvertently predicting the exact way she would break and let her anger win was a little unsubtle, but it felt appropriate given the content of the letter and was executed well. Amynta waving her own ego-death flag without knowing it is kind of funny. There is an irony in the fact that Amynta is more or less telling Kione how to break her, but Kione goes on to do this without even having read the letter. It's a little more tragic that Amynta is seeming to come to terms with what happened and is trying as best she can to process things healthily, but gets dragged back into that anger in the end regardless. Failing to escape the cycle is kind of Kione's thing (she is, after all, the girl who will let you down), but maybe Amynta got caught in that blast radius. Doomed by proximity. I liked that you had Amynta reflect on the fact she pushed Kione away after the hound/Vola fight. Although Kione was probably (maybe?) too far gone at this point Amynta doing some pretty vulnerable self-reflection added a lot of depth to her character. It highlighted her perception of the events of RESCUE HOUND and adds another layer of tragedy to her relationship with Kione. Hatred and love (whether that be romantic or not) are not opposites. She expresses a hope in the future and in Kione that we already know is going to be trampled into nothing. There's beauty in the struggle, even (and maybe especially) if it's doomed. There's some more stuff I can't quite put neatly into words, but to put it vaguely: it felt right to have Amynta agonise over the past as we're coming to realise just how much both her and Kione lost. We're kind of doing it at the same time she is... if that makes sense? Maybe that's a reach, but it was a feeling I got while reading it. Overall, I think this portion was a really critical addition - you made the internal conflict incredibly real and personable and it added a ton to this piece. This really did read like a heartfelt letter by a person reflecting on bitter memories. Naturally, this only further adds to the tragic irony. A notably self-aware and emotionally intelligent character ends up becoming the most animalistic hound with barely a spec of humanity left. It works on so many levels, and carries with it a deftness that is a hallmark your writing. I'm making the assumption that the reviewing officer was Handler? If so, this might have contributed to her decision to punish Kione the way she did in ...So Below. The letter got read by the one person you do NOT want to be emotionally vulnerable around if you value your sanity. I hope you can see how picking through this with an eye for connections was particularly fun and rewarding. If this piece was meant as an experiment in how you could use changes to the formatting to contribute to the story and reading experience, then I'd say it's a great success. Honestly, this was real highlight of the Archon mini-series for me. Looking forward, as always, to what's next.

"Everyone always see the worst in you, don't they Ki?" ❤️ Gosh I love her soooo much, she was waaay too good, especially for Kione. Radio girl ❤️ May your soul never be forgotten.

Damn, annnnd now im angry again . Such a waste of empathy .

It was so heartbreaking to read “for immediate disposal”. I almost believed Kione would read it — not that it would do much good anyway. I really love this arc, Kione is the best worst girl and Radio Girl didn’t deserve any of it.
