I think I owe you all a couple of apologies for this one

This story was written for the most recent $12 patron poll, and the winning prompt was: "A transphobic lesbian has her bedroom skills and memories systemically replaced with ones of chasing trans women." And that happened in... November. Oops. So that's the first apology: for tardiness. If it helps, I'm relatively back on track this month; January's patron poll will be posted before February, and the resulting story written far more immediately

Partly, the delay was down to life stuff. Partly, it was because I was wrestling with the prompt and how I should write it. Ultimately I elected to go all-in on the perspective of the bigoted central character as she transforms, because I felt creatively compelled by the idea that transphobia and chaserism are, in a sense, two sides of the same psychosexual coin when it comes to objectifying and dehumanizing trans women. This story doesn't pull any punches on either side

SO. CONTENT WARNING: this story is authentically vile. It is written from the perspective of a bigot whose violent bigtory permeates her point of view and the prose. It uses explicitly transphobic terminology throughout and depicts transphobic ideology intimately. If that sounds like it might be too much for you, I'd urge you to consider sitting this one out. If you take a look at the first few paragraphs and it turns your stomach, be warned that it does not get better, only weirder. That's the second apology: I'm sorry that this story is so gross and might not be very everyone

So.... enjoy?

P.S. No .txt file this time, because there is crucial formatting that cannot be expressed in plain text. I apologize for the inconvenience, but it simply is not readable or the same story without it

P.P.S. Thank you to my friends Olivka and Maggie for their invaluable beta reading and encouragement

Definitely an intense one, but also absolutely worth the read! You're great at illustrating a dark worldview for your characters

Sartha!!

Leaving it where you did with that ending was a superb choice, omg that was vile /pos

Holy shit. I got to the first set of three stars and I realized I am going to have to come back to this one. Already amazing. Full dissection later. (Pun intended)

What a ride, found myself giggling a few times, and definitely vile in the extreme. You're the undisputed master of corruption and this is some of your best work. Well done!

I don't think it can get much worse that it did in Substitute Oedipus... Right? *gulp*

Amazing work, damn. What an ending. Thank you for inspiring me to be even more of a sicko!

This was an... uncomfortable read in places, but having finished it I think this is very well-written. There are some bits of writing in particular which I found particularly inspired, even if the overall subject matter means I have to phrase my comments on this piece carefully. Given that most of your work is written in third person limited, I think the shift to first person here was done exceptionally well. The decision to make the main character a university-level academic let you sidestep the common issue of "why is this character's internal monologue using obscure verbiage and employing complex metaphor" that I think often crops up when authors try to marry their writing style with a first person perspective. It let you sprinkle in some really great lines and word choices without having to compromise. I know you said that you're proud of the prose in this one and I think you're right to be. The sheer volume of TERF catchphrases and real-world references (*cough* JKR *cough*) towards the start I think bordered on the overindulgent, but maybe that's just me trying to forget that people like this actually exist. You are unsubtly setting the tone and I think there's an argument to be made that that's a necessity for a piece like this. Caitlyn sucks (to put it mildly) and the extent of that is made very apparent in the first two pages alone. The comparison of transfemmes wearing makeup to blackface in the first couple paragraphs is fucking evil, and it's a line that instantly and very memorably establishes the mindset of narrator past her just saying a bunch of transphobic shit. I think the bit where Caitlyn gets a little too excited over the idea of getting to pour over and desecrate the body of Zoey after driving her to suicide was an inclusion that contributed significantly to the piece. I appreciated that Caitlyn sees herself in this fantasy as a (forensic?) pathologist rather than a coroner. It's a small point, but serves to highlight the extent to which she's caught up in her skewed perception of the biology as cover while she thinks about doing stuff that's obviously fetishistic. It's a morbid and patently perverse fascination that I think set up the nature of her "turn" and the whole theme of TERFs and chasers being two sides of a coin well. The slow twisting of Caitlyn's mind and memories made for an enjoyable read. The struggle of a mind being reshaped is something I find a highlight of your writing in general. The videos are overwriting only specific memories for her, but then that force ripples outwards into the rest of her mind. It's like watching the front of a car hit a tree and the whole thing concertina into a new crumpled shape. I think you wrote the cognitive dissonance and the ways Caitlyn rationalises herself out of it particularly well. You focus on the right bits and sprinkle in just enough moments of self-awareness to add a little doubt to exact path of her fall. I liked the rewritten memory sections a lot. The level of contrast between the scored-through memories and the new was more varied than I think I was expecting. There are (obviously) parts where it diverges significantly, but also ones where the experiences share a little overlap. Some parts of them were... unexpectedly tender? Mainly the first one, and I mean obviously they weren't exactly wholesome (the one where Caitlyn fills a girl up with booze in order to get her to have sex in the bar toilet was predatory in an uncomfortably realistic fashion), but there's a contrast between the level of fervent, genuine passion presented and the fact that these memories are a false constructs being forced into Caitlyn's mind that I appreciated. The second video section actually being number thirty six and Caitlyn blowing off her wife to watch thirty seven made me laugh. Similarly, the phrase "an oyster without a pearl" in the bedroom scene was crazy. I don't really have any way to connect these to any other point but I wanted to draw attention to them because they made me smile. It's very "you" to put absolute fire lines in the middle of insane sequences. I like the irony in the ending. Caitlyn has been pushed into this shape by a student, but now she's fantasising over the idea of being the one to shape her students. I think the ending also did a good job of highlighting that this is still a bad end. Caitlyn is still horrifically messed up inside, it's just that the precise nature of that has changed. I liked the sequence where she rationalises that she shouldn't care about her current sphere hating her, because being hated has never stopped her from doing stuff before. I maybe found the idea that Zoey would publish the strokes of her master plan online a little far-fetched, but that's probably the only small quibble I have writing-wise. Despite this being a difficult read for me, I do think I found it worthwhile. I hope you get good feedback on this. I can't say I think I'm "the target audience" and I still came away impressed with the writing, so I can only imagine that this is going to explode some people. I look forward to what's next.

God I think outside of warhound this is one of my fave works by you. I went in fully ready to stop reading but something about it just kept me going desire making me want to squirm uncontrollably at points. One of my favorite parts of your writing is how it can simultaneously make me think and titillate and this is peak that. Also I love the end was a chefs kiss on top of a fantastic piece
