Amelia's fate may just be the most suitable and satisfying I've ever seen in a piece of fiction. It actually works on three different levels: getting stuck as a mute for a while, trapped with Fun Gus entirely because she'd rather make one last attack on Kipo rather than accept a hand up, and also being trapped underground for the rest of her life after she'd been all about getting humanity back to the surface. Just beautiful all around. Unfortunately, it also comes up with the absolute bullshit of the whole storyline about finding the cure being thrown away, with Song apparently just plain giving up on it after a while despite all that noise they were making the whole season about finding it. Honestly no idea what the crew was thinking here.

Jake Williams

Amelia isn't just stuck underground again, she's stuck in her old burrow just to really give it some poetic justice and Song was never working on a cure for the cure she was working on a vaccine to make Mutes immune to the cure not reverse it's effects.

Hugo started as a tyrannical villain and died as a hero who even got his own statue, Amelia gets the most fitting fate possible for a hateful monster like herself, and mutes and humans build a new world together. It's such a sweet and satisfying ending. I do wonder though if maybe the demutated mutes could be remutated if kipo's parents could rediscover the formula that created Hugo, but considering how much experimentation it took, and how honestly pretty cruel it was to the animals, it's probably best if that's left unanswered. Also, it's really sweet how so many characters that weren't on great terms earlier ended up protecting each other. Wolf started by trying to eat Mandu, Hugo and Kipo's parents were a whole thing, Jamack didn't care much for Dave and found him annoying. Also I love when villains turn themselves into the thing they hate just to destroy the heroes. It really shows that their hatred was stronger than any real convictions they had. That or they're just getting desperate and it's satisfying seeing them realize they're losing.

It's been absolutely fun watching you react to this series, it's one of my favourites. :D I've had an absolute blast seeing your journey with this show, and I'm looking forward to Hilda next!

While watching this I had a new thought about the ending: In a way, it's fitting that the "cured" mutes can't be un-cured, because a major theme of Kipo is accepting what you can't change and learning to move on. You can see it in the world as a whole and Kipo and Amelia's reactions to it -- Kipo accepts the world as it is, while Amelia has dedicated herself to restoring the world that once was. You can also see it in Benson's rejection of Kipo in Ratland. Even aside from the representation aspects, it's a rare character dynamic in this kind of fiction, in that ultimately it's fine -- they stay friends, and Benson remains a central character.

A cure to Amelia's 'cure' was never in the cards. Song was specifically working on a way to *immunize* the mutes, not to 'remute' them after they'd already been cured. And if they could reintroduce the mutations, it's very likely they wouldn't come back with the same memories and personality.

Vaccinations are a prevention not a cure so the reverted mutes where never going to be cured

There is a deleted scene animatic here is what the Tweet from Rad Sechrist said " At one point we had a scene where Fungus drags Emelia back to her old bed room, recognizing photos of her and her brother. I like to think Fungus took on the shape of her brother, wanting a forever sister, forcing Emilia to confront her past everyday." The scene animatic is out there its super creepy.

I read somewhere that Kipo is dating one of the twins. I think it was Asher? I think that was her name. I don’t remember where I read it

It's been such a fun journey watching you watch this show ^__^ I'm so happy you got to see it all. I also hope one day there could be a revival or a movie or something. Even if it's like way in the future. Bravo and thank you for watching this show! I always forget that all 30 eps came out in 2020.

Thank you for reacting to this series! The end designs were perfect, especially Kipo's. And Emilia's end was so fitting (and really disturbing). Also I'm in shock the show has a real body count. I didn't expect them to commit to consequences, I also believed they'd find a cure. But I'm impressed they went this route. Besides even if they did find a way to re-mute Yumyan and the others, I don't think they'd have their memories. A human conscious being trapped in a mega mute works because their brains are massive enough to house a human conscious. But a normal cat brains can't store a human level personality and memories.

Awesome! Thank you, I wasn't aware

They probably could make them mutes again, because that's how they made Hugo, to begin with. But there would be no point. As you say, it'd make them mutate again, but it wouldn't restore *them*, because a normal rat or cat sized brain doesn't have the capacity to retain the personality of a sapient being. And having a new version of them walking around who isn't them would probably just be jarring and remind them even more of their loss.
