One VERY fun little detail about this episode: Check what's behind Pike right as she fires the laser at Thordak... XD

Ryan

Boss fight. Hell yeah. I love shows like Arcane and Vox Machina that don't have to shy away from the true intensity of a fight - both for ratings reasons and for actor safety. Too many shows just do a generic melee. Keyleth (ep 1): "Raishan is going to betray us!" Keyleth (ep 2): "Raishan is going to betray us!" Keyleth (ep 3): "Raishan is going to betray us!" Keyleth (ep 4): "Raishan is going to betray us!" Keyleth (ep 5): "Raishan is going to betray us!" Keyleth (ep 6): "Raishan is going to betray us!" Keyleth (ep 7): "Raishan is going to betray us!" Keyleth (ep 8): "Raishan is going to betray us!" Keyleth (ep 9): "Raishan betrayed us!" Vox Machina (ep 9): "Why didn't we see this coming!?" The lesson here? Always, *always* listen to the redhead.

You should watch netflix Disenchantment its a fun show i think you would enjoy

Kiki Bee

watch Pike's scene again and pay close attention to her, for like 2 frames-maybe even 1-she has wings. It's so badass

I 100% agree with Elijah. ANYTIME a mother, or someone who was dear that has now passed, says some form of endearing dialogue over an intense scene, I can't help but begin to UGLY CRY

7:00 - I mean in Keyleth's defense Kash was laying it thick flirting with her in season 2. 9:38 - My thinking is that she was playing both sides to her benefit. If VM got the upper hand on Thordak she could hop in and assist them, but if Thordak kills them then she can pretend she had nothing to do with them. Basically waiting to see where the wind blows. 11:09 - This is one of the biggest divergences (heh heh) from the campaign. Kash never died in the original campaign; to say Critters were shocked is an understatement. 🥺 14:52 - HEY DON'T BLAME POOR KIKI FOR PIKE'S MISTAKE! lol 22:21 - For a BRIEF moment, you can see wings flash behind Pike as she redirects Thordak's flame. This is a nod to "astral projected" wings granted to her by her Goddess the Everlight. Pretty funny they briefly show up after Pike tosses her vestige away. 27:30 - SO...in the campaign Scanlan actually DID die, but they decided to change it to him just being in a coma. Again they wanted death to carry more weight, which means making sure everyone doesnt die as frequently as a D&D game.

Surprised no one has brought up the Vax/Liam thing with the mom. Basically during this campaign Liam O'Brien lost his mom to cancer. I believe it was actually a few days before the tomb Vex death. Liam has stated that he basically saw Thordak as his moms cancer, and killing Thordak gave him some closure.

“How much health does this dude HAVE?! 1,000?!” You were close Elijah, Thordak had over 1,400 HP lol

Thunder

Close. She'd been diagnosed a few days before the Vex tomb death.

It's almost perfect that Elijah will finish reacting to S3 around the same time that we are (hopefully) getting either Vox Machina S4 or Mighty Nein S1 trailer. It'll give her something to look forward to!

I love how they handled Raishan in the show. In the campaign it was presented as a deal with the devil right away and vox machina always intended to fight her. Which was interesting but her title is "diseased deceiver" and the show really puts an emphasis. Even what happened during the battle you could argue that Raishan was being pragmatic but making sure the armies didn't have an easy escape and also that they weakened throdak enough for her and vox machina. An underhanded tactic but war can be cold and cruel

Kash be like "You're dead! I win!!" SPLAT!! Love it so much.

Fun fact, Kash never died in the original campaign. That was a HUGE change for the show and it made my jaw drop when I saw this episode As for stuff like Pikes blood and her struggle with the Plate and belief in herself over the Everlight, that's pretty much original to the show too. Due to constant needing to be in New York for filming a show she was on, Ashley was actually absent from much of Campaign 1 and thus, character-centric events for Pike were little to none in the original campaign cause Matt very often had to make up excuses for Pike to not be with the party or if she was, another player at the table would cover her (usually Laura and Liam). The CR team has said TLVM is their opportunity to give Pike the screentime and big character arc she deserved that everyone else got over the course of the first campaign. Season 3 has been the biggest example of that currently.

I get the reference. 🤣 - Greatest 20 minutes OF MY LIFE... You could say Kash was ,,spurted". 😅😆

Riley

That ,,fake-out" with Kash's death (which from what I heard did not heppen in the Campaign at all) made me realize something... During this fight (and any fight since the finale of Season 2) Vax might not SAW every death - the same way as he saw Kash's - but at the very least felt every single death that happened. He was ,,fighting a completely different battle" during all this.

,,But I never made a plan before" a few decades later - ,,FLUFFERNUTTER!" (The caps are necessery)

So, consider this animated series completely different from the actual campaign, they did take a few elements from the original campaign and brought it to the show but for the most part, like the majority of the stuff happening in the show did not happen in their campaign the way it was shown, my recommendation is to watch the original VM campaign, and you will see that things happened way different.

Grog blacking out after coming up with a plan. Travis is an excellent tactician but often had to remind himself of Grog's intelligence of six.

This ep slaps SO hard! 😎 I told you, Keyleth was right all along. Redemption, baby!

Looking at C2 - Yes absolutely and also... Must protec the redhead at all cost. 🔥

And a happy belated Father’s Day to thordak lmfao

During campaign 1 I always kinda hated Keyleth, I just couldn't stand her, still can't really but the show changed that a little bit.
