Donovan "Ravenhull"

I haven’t finished Mosco’s, and now gotta do Elijah’s too? How can I cope? ;)

Jittercritter

First Mosco and now you too??? OKAY FINE ILL WATCH IT AND COME BACK

Liam Gradwell

Yay! Elijah and Mosco have seen this. Glad it’s giving it the love it deserves. 🥳🌈❤️

DarkGodHao

Nice and Elijah is still watching Jentry Chau, can't wait to sit down and watch this reaction

Sonicblue21

DAMN Ejljah! Another reaction you’re catching me off guard with!

Eliteguard99

YES! I was hoping you'd react to this!

Rainbow Moth

What a pleasant surprise this movie was!!

Solus

Hey, I just watched this last night, I liked it a lot though I did switch to Korean audio and kept English subtitles on, I really enjoyed this movie, I have been binge watching a lot of South Korean Romance/Dramas/Supernatural shows in the last few months and I love it, my favorite shows are Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Business Proposal, just saying.

Saiyasha

It appears there is a sequel in the works and I hope to god it gives us ore info on her mom. Like, I feel like this movie wouldn't go the very _very_ dark route Rumis conseption being forced, so my personal guess is that either Rumi's mother was decieved by a deon into falling in love and sleeping with him or and that is the version I find most likely, they _actually_ fell in love. And then there is the question. How did she die? Complications during the birth? _Did_ Celine kill her? What about Rumi's father? Did Celine kill _hi_ and Rumis mother died of a broken heart? So many goddamn possibilities!!!

BrightHeart

I feel with Elijah's love for this. She would LOVE K/DA.

Saiyasha

I am actually _so unbelievably glad_ that there was no actual romance between jnhu and Rumi in the end. like, I get that Rumi fell for him, she _is_ a teenage girl, _She_ is allowed a bad decision or two. But he is 400 years old. This is just Bella and Edward all over again!!!!

Eliteguard99

I thought Hunterx were in their early 20’s? Not that it makes the situation better I just didn’t think they were teens

bandi138138

so several things I would love to share: 1. The shaman women you see in the more ancient times are called Moodang, and serve as spiritual mediums for contacting spirits and warding off evil. 2. Rumi's sword is a Sa-in Geom (Four Tiger Sword), a ritualistic sword forged in the Hour of the tiger, in the day of the tiger, in the month of the tiger, on the year of the tiger. Tigers were seen as divine beasts, and was thought to channel the energy of the Tiger into a sword used in rituals to ward off evil. 3. Mira's Glaive is called a Wol-do, (moon blade), which are still widely used by moodang in ceremonies. 4. Saja boys is a Korean pun, as the word Saja is a homonym of both Lion and a psychopomp like the grim reaper in Korean. The black traditional outfit the Saja wear are the same outfit Juhsung Saja are described to be in. 5. While not explicitly named, a lot of the demons shown are those that appear in Korean folklore, like the Dokkaebi wielding clubs, the water dwelling Mulguishin (souls of drowned victims that become ghosts determined to share their fate by drowning others with them), and Mongdal Guishin (The faceless guishin).

BrightHeart

One theory I've seen floating around is that Rumi's dad is actually Gwi-Ma himself. Also why was my first thought for a sequel villain, a demonified version of Rumi's mother.

Stormyweather

I watched this with my girlfriend as soon as I heared it came out. I started crying at her being able to hit the note she was struggling with in Golden and just didn't stop crying till the end. Something about losing your ability to do your passion always messes me up. I love how beautiful this movie and it's message is.

Alex

Edit: Fun fact: the director/creator Maggie Kang is married to the creator of Kipo and the age of the wonder beast.

Jordan Lynn Goodman

I loved this movie so much--like, not only for Rumi's growth, but also Jinu. As Gwi-ma said at the beginning, Jinu never does anything that isn't self-serving. Seeing him slowly regain his humanity throughout the movie the more time he spends with Rumi is so lovely...like, this man sacrificed himself for her so that she could survive and not only defeat Gwi-ma, but (hopefully) fulfill her dream. I really hope they make a sequel and he's able to be resurrected somehow. I'd love to see Rumi and his relationship continue to grow.

FaeRhae

Rumi is not a teen, theyre probably in their early to mid twenties

Jittercritter

Oh my god… I wasn’t gonna watch this bc I thought it looked cringe, but then Mosco and Elijah BOTH reacted to it and I was like great, now I HAVE to watch it… oh. Omg. I almost missed out on SUCH A GEM WHAT I don’t even know where to begin. The sincerity of the themes and relationships with the 3 girls was SPECTACULAR and the magic system was amazing! I love the concept of bards/bardic magic but it’s seldom done right—this and Raine from ToH are the only good examples I can think of. Singer-warriors are often gag characters and aren’t usually treated with this much depth and respect, and the ANIMATION, AUGH!!! Not to mention the MUSIC?! I don’t even like Kpop and j don’t usually download more than 2 or 3 songs from a musical movie if ANY—but I downloaded SIX from this one!!! And oh my god, Rumi… that ‘why can’t you love ALL of me?’ hit SO HARD, I relate a lot and I’m so glad she found a place where she belonged. I saw someone on Reddit sawing that maybe Celine can be a (potentially redeemable?) antagonist for a sequel, and I second that 100%, that could be SUPER interesting! They managed to make a satisfying story but they also left a lot of questions open about Rumi’s past and future, which makes me REALLY hope for a sequel (but only if it’s as much of a certified banger as this one was!). …also I saw that RWBY mug 👀

Deynix

Holy heck. I needed this so much and probably would not have tried it if you hadn’t reacted to it. Having the same “a better world is possible” feelings that I get from She-Ra, Steven Universe, Sense8…I missed that a lot.

sydney!

This movie 100% deserves a sequel! I can't accept what happened to Jinu.

Joey Quixote

Never judge a book by its cover. This movie hits some levels of emotional depth you would not expect! Not as hard as it hit you, but that final sequence gave me chills. The switch really flipped for me as you see Zoey coming around and making her way to Rumi. I love the fact that they were so certain that Golden was gonna do it. This was a song, as Rumi said, about being at their best. And instead, it's an absolute banger about how they're flawed that brings everyone together. The little lying voice. I know the voice very well. We've been doing battle since I was a teenager. Even with all this experience, it's hard not to listen. It's not all bad, as weird as it sounds. It's a part of me. We've collaborated before. Made magic before. We're quite a force when we're not at odds, which unfortunately is much of the time. Things used to be much worse, but I'm still here, and I ain't going anywhere any time soon. This is the positivity I've been letting into my life. Movies like this. Communities like this. I'm still a long shot from where i want to be, but I'm a lot closer than I ever was, and I'm still headed in the right direction. Thank you for spaces like this that breed positivity and embrace the beauty of life.

Pdrs

I know we got to see the dynamic between the girls but damn I sort of wish we got to see more of them together and their fears. WHAT DO YOU MEAN "I dont deserve a family"????? but I get that we needed the boyband to help drive the story. I just wanted other scenes of the girls together like the one with Mira and Rumi, trying to undestand and get Rumi to talk to them but Rumi pushing them away due her own fears, but also showing that those fears and faliures dont have to be faced alone, that with help and love from others you can face those surpass them. that there's no need to live with fear and pain and that love can save you. Pain doesn't make people, it's love that makes people. The pain is inconsequential. It's love that saves them. but still a fun movie none the less Im just gonna leave this quote that fits SO WELL with this movie "Scathing eyes ask that we be symmetrical, one sided and easily processed. Yet every misshapen spark's unseen beauty is greater than its would be judgement." - Yellow Trailer

Maggie Ray

I relate a lot to Rumi. So when I first saw the scene between Rumi and Celine, I sobbed. Disability is often something we are told by the people around us to hide. I certainly was told that. But hiding a disability only makes it worse... And OMG, my smoke detector is going off! Sorry to worry anyone. We’re going through a heat wave right now and my fans haven’t been working. So I guess that’s what set them off. It went off as I was writing about how I relate to Rumi. 😳

Ryan

Love a good end of act two. And I never thought I'd see a finale that is brighter and gayer - visually at least - than She-Ra's. I have a cat sort of like that - an almost full sized tiger plushie. It's magnificent. ---- So... this has no right to be as good as it is, given how utterly ridiculous the premise is. And I don't just mean from a technical level - the animation crackles, and doing dynamic cameras when animating on twos is *hard*. But the story and the message of self acceptance is amazing, and a lot darker at times than the trailers let on. Everyone hears that voice. And it's loud. And for some of us it's been with us for decades. It took my older sister almost thirty years to realize hers was lying to her. ---- Real talk - if this was a (romantic) sapphic love story, Elijah would have *perished*. I'm talking complete sublimation.

Aleph Sharp

Absolutely Loved this movie. That whole scene with Celene at the end? Absolutely broke me. Despite the HEAVY het of it, the theming was also very queer? As well as ofher things? The hiding of it, sure also yeah, absolutely more general flaws and such? And yeah, that note HIT me along with that final song of theirs

Crystal Smith

The scream I let out when I saw you reacted YES!!

David Johnson

One nice graphical touch was that the Saja Boys logo was a stylized lion...until the final scenes when the mane went away and what remained was a stylized demon.

Vengerin

This movie was so good, holy shit. The music is amazing, the voice acting and the humor. And when they go to the sensible part, hits home. I saw someone commenting on Twitter that this could have better pacing and work really nice if it was a series and I fully agree. In fact, I want more of this. My daughter is out this week but I can't wait for her to return home to see it again with her, she's a huge kpop fan and she love Twice (the group that made some of the songs). And yeah, in the last part I was crying since Rumi enters the stadium. Also, if you know the kpop and Jpop scene, this movie is a huge commentary on the conditions of perfection that these girls and boys are forced by contract.

Todd Lucas

Yes...I was EXACTLY there with you from the moment Rumi hit that haunting note. And that song...THAT. FREAKING. SONG!!!!! Not just a great song, but spoke so much about myself...hiding everything so no one saw the real me. I have not been this moved emotionally by anything since Arcane tore my heart apart over and over again last year. And I swear, if this film doesn't get an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Film, and that final song doesn't win Song of the Year.....the Academy is crooked!

Saiyasha

I'm actually very glad that Jinyhus 'first version' of his story wasn't real. I felt like he was opening up a bit too quickly - but knowing that it was a ploy and not what _actually_ happened makes it uch more believable

KaoruUzu

This is the power of love and acceptance done right!!!

DaiQuan Moss

If you re-listen to the last two songs (Your idol) is jinu singing to rumi and (What it sounds like) is rumi singing to jinu. Jinu is trying to tell Rumi that he doesn't care about her marks. Where as rumi is trying to tell Jinu to accept his on marks and embrace them to be truly free

SageMoon6338

Tell me I’m not the only one downloading the KPop Demon Hunters album rn

Jittercritter

And yes, that note towards the end got me too. They did a damn good job of picking someone with an ETHEREAL voice

Mennah Ibrahim

My eyes kept getting watery as soon as it got emotional and then with her voice I just collapsed… why it gotta connect to your soul like that 😭

ItsSimmeRin

Ah I’m so glad you reacted to this because my god I was completely not expecting this like this honestly would have been an amazing theatre release not just on Netflix, what hit me and I know it’s not relevant to the movie but still, was when they was talking about hiding a part of yourself and covering up to appear perfect and normal I honestly related that to the queer experience personally and god it made me feel things I wasn’t expecting. I just love movies and shows like this

Annieme

I *almost* didn’t watch this movie, but then 2 (separate group) friends really really recommended it and oof I am sooo glad I did watch it :3 and I am so happy both you and mosco have reacted to it n.n

DragonBlaze

Is it me or does the one who voices Mina sound like Stephanie Beatriz aka Vaggie from the Hazbin Hotel.

Kisuke01

Movie was amazing love this style. Also Elijah over here controlling my TV 😂. Also also Zoey was most definitely my favorite i need merch

Dark Danny

React to the second spider verse movie please, it’s a crime that you haven’t seen it

Brandon Newton

So my wife and I never heard of this movie before yesterday. Immediately watched it, and I will say the whole movie made me ball, but I'm with you Elijah. That note she does at the end just resonates deep into my soul. And that whole final song just had the tears rolling 😭😭 an absolutely beautiful movie with a beautiful message. I'm telling every one of my nieces and nephews they need to see this!

Mennah Ibrahim

Also doesn’t Rumi look like Adora a little or am I just obsessed with She-ra

S K

The theme/metaphor/parallel to this movie for me was culture. In Asian culture when marrying outside is looked down upon and you could see that in Rumi's conflict. She's a child of both world where even Celine can't accept her entirety which also gave Rumi hateful feeling against herself for being a "half-breed". She was told to hide her other half or risk losing everything aka hide her foreign blood from Zoey and Mira. Speaking of Zoey, she's the child of both American and Korean world. If you're not born and raised in Korea you're seen as a foreigner and someone who doesn't belong. Her lyrics in Golden told you her internal conflict. Whereas Mira can't express herself and got constraint in culture that all girls in Asian family have to face. That's why she's labeled as the problem child. As a girl in Asian culture, you're expected to look pretty, stay quiet, married and have kids. Her desire was to be accepted and have a family that accepted all of her even her aggressive blunt and straight forward attitude which is not a wife/daughter material. Finally the last song "what it sounds like" was so powerful and I can't stop listening to it.

swan

“Why couldn’t you love me” “I do love you—“ “ALL OF ME!!”

CrimsonKing420

Tried googling if this was real, but see no info connecting them

Alex

This is why we should always double check our comments. that’s my bad, the wife of the creator of Kipo Directed/created the movie. Maggie Kang is who I was referring to. I believe he also did do some story boards for the movie aswell

Minjohnsen

It’s not letting me watch

Christopher Herrera

Can we start a petition to have a kpop version of the goofy movie

Y.M.K

For me the Celine situation is literally a "supportive" parent telling you "its a phase you will grow out off" Mira and Zoey have both messages of not fitting in Mira being a rebel that got discarded by her family for being herself and Zoey having an identity crisis between Burbank and Korea like shows in the Golden MV. As a Trans person, I cried through out most of the movie. It might be me just fishing for thing to relate but, "What it sounds like" talk about showing your true colors even tho they might not be perfect you should not hide them and let them shine through. Also that "Love all of me" from Rumi.... I felt that in my soul!

Seth

I was so excited to see you react to this movie I fell in love as soon as i saw the trailer and I wonder which of the girls is your favorite. I personally like zoey the most because i feel i relate to her the most. Being a bit of a people pleaser and not wanting to be to much that I’ve grown up to scared to share the stuff im really passionate about and wanting to find the place I belong.

Kiki Bee

Because of Celine's line "but I never thought that would be a child like you" I believe that Celine and the third of their trio killed Rumi's father, and in her grief Rumi's mother committed suicide as her grief was making her weak to Ghui-ma (she couldn't protect the one she loved = she couldn't protect anyone). Then Celine took Rumi in as a sort of guilt but promise to never let it happen again sort of thing. Also, I also cried during What it Sounds Like the first time I listened to it. The message of the song of embracing differences and finding light in darkness and all that, hit a cord with me. It's my most repeated song on the soundtrack.

Alex

Ya’ll I just learned that this was the same animation team that Warner Brothers rejected their take on Batman Beyond. Allergic to money.

Ryan

Spotted during a re-watch: the slide they go down is the colors of the pansexual pride flag. Now I want to go through and see if there are other hidden pride flags like in Nimona.

Mitch

I like that you pointed out that they showed girls not wearing make up and having shadows under their eyes. The message of hiding imperfections has extra meaning when you hear of some of the stuff kpop idols have to go through in order to look flawless, especially girl idols.

Mel

Regarding Rumi's parents I got the vibe that she was the product of rape. She says she was a mistake from the very beginning and from what Celine said, it didn't sound like her parents were in love, only that she would protect Rumi for her mother's sake. I think that was the start of the paterns, like since she was able to understand Rumi thought her existence was shameful and wrong and she shouldn't have existed because she wasn't conceived out of love or anything like that (she thought that demons didn't feel, therefore her father didn't love her mother, and I think if there was a precedent for a huntress loving a demon, Rumi would have had a different reaction to Jinu and demons in general). I love that at the end of the movie the paterns didn't disappear, they are a part of Rumi and are still there even as she learns to love herself

Jamie Thomson

Maybe, but then again, Sonys animations are mostly family friendly, but I see your point, it would make sense

amelia ☆彡

YESS I LOVED THIS MOVIE AND YOUR REACTION!! also fun fact i just found out: the creator of this movie is married to one of the creators of Kipo!! i found out on his tiktok and it’s really cool!! so that’s a power couple that makes two awesome things!! YAYY

pneuma163

I am not in the kpop scene much at all but I kept hearing about this movie enough from people who are and decided to give it a try. That was so cool, as you said such an interesting journey. The note that Rumi sang was so completely recognizably *Rumi* and I think that was part of how much I responded to it. It was such a great character moment and it was a very satisfying turn in that scene. It was also so great to see the smiles of each of the girls right before they hugged. If you're interested, a fantastic example of music performed for animation but that sounds like it would if you were there is the anime Bocchi the Rock! (The exclamation point is part of the title.) It's all in Japanese, mind you, but it is *very good* in my opinion. The songs that are performed in the anime are good but also performed to fit what you would expect to hear if you were in the room - and above even that praise, the way they are performed fit the plot moments and story development so you feel even more connected to the intent behind the performances.

Jittercritter

What a rollercoaster! Glad to hear you’re okay lol. Also on the topic of fire alarms going off… when we first got my cat she went into heat BAD before her appointment to get fixed, and she was OBNOXIOUS. Constantly wailing and being super clingy, it was pure nightmare fuel and it would not stop. Usually cats go in and out of it, but her? Nope—nonstop. Walking around crouched and screaming 24/7… UNTIL the smoke detector went off. She stood up straight and took off to hide. When she came back out, she was normal again and stayed that way for 2 days. Smoke detector really slut shamed my cat lol

Chantal Luhmann

I found it so refreshing, that the manager for the singers isn't a selfabsorbed, focusing character. Who'd turn on the performers when the occasion arrises. Big Kudos to Bobby. <3 We've seen the "evil/becoming evil manager" trope too many times imo. :) Also, sorry about my English. It's not my first language. ^^'

POMMERA Pierre-Emmanuel

2:03:51 Something I notice is they took a famous singer for a none singing part : Lea Salonga (Jasmine and Mulan singing voice) as Celine. I don't get it.

Alex Martinez

You should react to the movie “Belle” , it’s one of my favorite movies of all times. I’ll add this is one to my list as well. It was so good 😭I’m going to be listening to this soundtrack on repeat.

Gone

I made the same recommendation on Wee Lass' reaction to this movie, it's so great.

Elísabet

OMG YES!! Bobby is superior!

Valerie

The first thing you said about the girls being super feminine and still bad ass hit me so hard!! It is so unbelievably true in today society how you can’t be a girlie pop and still be a bad ass! I loved their take on that! And yes, the entire last half of the movies I SOBBED!! Her voice breaking through the darkness, almost representing the light! Amazing!

The Biggest Gay

Maybe they were originally going to have her sing

Vexkun

There's 2 versions of Takedown, one sang by the VAs/singers and one sang by three members of TWICE (Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung). In the actual performance, it's the VAs singing, Twice's version is only used in the end credit as they showed it. And this video: https://youtu.be/l8Dr7vzMSVE?si=TFkq47v417-89y3y The director of K-pop Demon Hunters revealed which groups inspired the film's characters. In an interview with Forbes, Maggie Kang explains that she aims to create unique characters that reflect specific archetypes associated with K-pop. In the case of Huntrix, there was a wide mix that included a bit of everything, but they were primarily inspired by TWICE, ITZY, and Blackpink For Saja Boys, the team drew inspiration from Tomorrow X Together, BTS, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, BIGBANG, and Monsta X. Rumi's father must be a legend among his community imagine rizzing your way into bed with not only a world famous pop star but also the natural predator of your kind that has been hunting and slaying your kind for generations. lol Everybody online seems to be asking for a sequel. Personally, I think we need a prequel. How did Huntrix first come together? Where is the nameless third member of the Sunlight Sisters? Is Rumi’s father dead or just missing? So many questions still need to be answered. I loved this movie and really hope they follow-up with these questions in the future.

Konrad Dunbar

if you loved this I think you should give some of the pretty cure magical girl series a try lol

Katrina

I love this movie!!

Bailey

Nice RWBY mug! I'm excited to watch a new movie reaction from you, too. These are fun special events! Also hi, I'm back to being a member after a month off lol Also first, the animation is incredible. I also want to see more 2D animation again, but also I'm satisfied with super expressive 3D animation that goes off model in fun 2D ways. Second, spoilers for people that haven't watched the movie or reaction yet, but the main character being a half demon demon hunter reminds me of Dante from Devil May Cry lol. It's probably not intentional, but if her hair turns white and she wears red by the end of the movie I will love it lmao. Okay, back to watching this incredible reaction! oh my god this movie is incredible! the animation, the songs, the story and themes aaaaa! Absolutely incredible...

RenaissanceM

I don’t think it was Love that saved Rumi & Jinu. I think it was Truth. Granted, love and truth can sometimes be the same thing. In this movie’s case though, it was the fact that Rumi could finally be herself around someone. Openly and honestly. 100% herself. That’s what healed her and all of Huntrix. “My voice without the lies, this is what it sounds like…” Same goes for Jinu. I do believe they were flirting and they were definitely developing feelings for one another, but his redemption didn’t begin until he acknowledged the truth of what he did. As horrible as it was, he needed someone to hear it and tell him that it wasn’t too late. That’s how they were able to save and heal one another. With love? Maybe, but definitely with Truth & Acceptance. That’s my two cents. 😌🙏

RenaissanceM

Take notes Disney, when people say they want an irredeemable villain, Gwi Ma is exactly what I’m imagining. The embodiment of the voice in your head that tells you you’re not good enough. So simple. So perfect.

RenaissanceM

This really was such a wonderful experience as a film. ☺️ You know what it felt like? It felt like the kind of movies Disney use to make back when they use to take risks. When they tried things and didn’t know whether or not it would work. Like, remember when Disney use to say things like “Hey, let’s make a movie about Greek Mythology that’s also a Rocky style Underdog story, oh, and the soundtrack’s gonna be Gospel” Or “Hey, let’s make an adaptation of Charles Dickens Oliver Twist with the characters as Cat’s & Dog’s starring the voice talents of Bette Midler, Cheech Marin, and Billy F**king Joel” Lol Don’t get me wrong, not every film can be a masterpiece obviously, and I genuinely think Disney has produced some stellar films in the last ten years, I’m just saying, I’m really happy that this level creative risk taking is still happening. Lord would I have loved to be a fly in the room when someone actually pitched “Okay, so they’re a trio of K-Pop Stars who are also the latest in a centuries old tradition of female warrior demon slayers, and their adversaries are a demon k-pop boy band” ☺️🙏

RenaissanceM

1:58:20 If I had a nickel for every protagonist I’ve seen this year that summons a magical glowing blue sword and uses it to split an otherworldly demon in half, I’d have two nickels….. *Glances at Castlevania: Nocture* …..which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice…..😂👍

song sl

OMG YES!! I thought I was the only one who thought that! I literally had to google it after I finished watching and I was so confused lol

song sl

Same! So in love with the movie and songs!

Cassandra Russo

Yes i felt all the feels when she sang that note and kept crying.

Arashi

Rumi's note gave me chills, but I didn't start to tear up until she was shown and looking so lost and worn. And then she made her statement and for the whole song I was sitting forward and ready. Sure, had a mix of 'yay their friends again' and 'oh no Jinu. I expected it but... ;_; ' tears but once This is What it Sounds Like started, I was damp-eyed at the least until the bath.

Gone

This might be nothing and I'm reading into some lyrics/songwriting where a thing isn't there. Or someone else might have made the observation and I missed it. Either way, HERE WE GO! The song "Golden" has a bit of songwriting tied to the story that if it was what I'm reading into it was a really nice detail. A LOT of the time when they sing the word "up" the note rises. In "Golden" they sing "we're going up, up, up" twice during each chorus. The first time they sing "we're going up, up, up, it's our moment," and the second time they sing "up, up, up with our voices." The first time when it's about their "moment," the "ups" are all even. Cause it's NOT their moment. "Golden" isn't the song that does the thing. They DO raise the note of the last "up" the second time when it's a more literal thing about what they're doing with their voices, though. Hell, the last chorus when Rumi hits the big "WE'RE GOING up, up, up" the "ups" are actually a note LOWER than the "we're going" part. Anywho, I've been listening to this and a couple other songs a lot at work so I've had a lot of listens to think about stuff like this.

RyokoTheBeast

Wow, that's funny. I didn't even think that. I think even Trevor had glowy blue dagger too. lol

Rachel Mae

As a huge rwby fan I’ll just say that the message of this movie really resonated with me. And from an artistic perspective the use of color just really brings me joy. My favorite anime makes use of bright colors a bit like this as well if media has that it’s always gonna catch my attention

Claire Berndt

Made a patreon account just to watch you, Mosco, and Morgan react to this in full. (Found you three through The Owl House and am loving you and Mosco’s RWBY reactions!)

Dominic Rogers

With what you were saying at the start of the movie about them being feminine protags, it reminded me of Nausicaa, who is my favourite fictional character, as she avoids using conflict and prefers to solve issues using compassion and understanding instead, such as in an early scene when she calms a giant insect known as an Ohmu because she knows it just mistook another human as attacking its forest. (it is a little more nuanced than that but I'm just giving the clip note version)

Gabriel Marquez

44:33 If you still want to be in a relationship, DO NOT send that to her!

WolfieOo

So while I first watched this, I was bemused and only a little amused. It wasn't a whole lot, but it kept me engaged. Then we got to the Idol Stage Face off thing, and it just ramped up for me. But what really surprised me was I was also crying at the end. The note Rumi sings at the end of 'Your Idol' is very haunting. Almost like someone who is mourning or super sad. That's what it reminded me of. Then during her song 'This is what it sounds like', I started to cry, because I also resonated with the words and the meaning behind them. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people found something relatable in the three main girls and their last song. Very solid. Very happy to have watched, and happier to see preferred reactors watching it too.

ReallifeLego

I watch Kpdh atleast over twenty Times as 22 year Old man and i want more. And also i love the music in this movie and i am Person how hears mostly Rammstein, Acdc, Emniem and so on but this movie truely touched my heart. P.s im thinking if there is not comming more Sony will have a Proplem with the fans

BeastialMoon

If you liked: KPop Demon Hunters Might I suggest: Symphogear Singing JPop/JRock while fighting, insane world building, lesbians, and oh yeah REALLY fun action sequences. I know you can't watch anime on your channel but you would definitely enjoy it on your own time.

Phoenix_mercury

well obvi their not gonna make such thing explicit but its def *an* implication

Theking

But you showing thirst or attraction to female characters is completely fine? Its refreshing having female characters being open about who they are attracted to, for boy or girls, I love ya and the reaction, but that was the only take of yours i don't agree with, its not tired at all

As someone who is Asian, lesbian, and nonbinary and has had their fair share of mental health struggles, “Golden,” “Free,” and “What It Sounds Like” hit so close to home for various reasons. I’ve struggled with dark thoughts before, and I do have scars from the battles I’ve had with mental illness, so Rumi’s patterns really resonated with me in that way. To me, I could see Rumi’s patterns as an allegory for self harm, but I do appreciate that they left it up for interpretation. Obviously, they wanted to keep it kid friendly, but in general, I like when mental health themes are more ambiguous and not the punchline.

I just got finished watching Mosco's reaction to this and realized that I couldn't remember if I hit the little heart on yours or not. I'm glad I came back... I had forgotten. It has been rectified. Thank you for this reaction!

I was right there with you on feeling my soul responding to the last song. My god. . . The love and energy they poured into this film is astounding.

Kitsune Kokoro

Doing a rewatch of this because I love this movie, and with the benefit of hindsight I'm guessing your reaction to the tree with the ribbons has something to do with The Elves of Amaranth. But I guess I'll have to wait and see what it is :)

The bit that really got to me personally was when Rumi confronts Celine, "why couldn't you love, all off me!" It just brought up stuff for me, it's the one of the parts I can't stop thinking about.

Oh, I can post here because I bought the post. Anyway, yeah! I started sobbing pretty much at the moment of that note too. It was a really powerful song in general too, one that's gone straight into my permanent rotation. I've had it as an ear-worm since I saw the movie Sunday and thank stars I like it enough that I don't mind.

I need to let you know that what made me buy access to this reaction was the fact that you drank from a RWBY cup lmao.

Fire

Chills every single time I hear her sing that note! 🥹😭🥹😭🥹😭

So I'm just watching this now since I just watched the movie for the first time, and yeah. I was crying basically from Rumi's last convo with Celine ("Why couldn't you love me?") clear through to the end. I'm trans, and Rumi's story was soooooo trans-coded and hit so close to home that I just couldn't stop bawling my eyes out.

"These girls can sing" Somewhere, EJAE is crying tears of joy again, and she doesn't know why :)

The simple, on-the-nose title of this movie put me off at first, and then "hype aversion" kept me away from it for a while. And then a podcast that normally talks about TTRPG stuff took a break from their bread-and-butter for an episode just so the trans host could go on a rant about how fantastic the movie is, and I knew I needed to watch it. I still waited until I could watch it with my roommate, which was a couple of nights ago. And yeah, as a trans person myself, Rumi's story hits real damn hard, along with the fantastic songs that touch on it; "Golden", "Free", and especially "What It Sounds Like" had me crying.

All the "acceptance" thing kinda is just like in owlhouse eda with her mom, is like a reference of someone being in the neurodivergent spectrum or being a mix-race and then the other family members get ashamed of it, like eda being half-owlmonster, her mom get ashamed, said everything is ok, but hide her and just focused on saying they will remove that part of her instead of just loving the kid as it is, for rumi was the same, his dad was demon, and her tutor simply said: "yeah, we will get rid of that part of you", instead of accepting who she is for who she is For people in the spectrum this is a hardcore message because some families just say "we accept them as they are" and them try to hide them or scold them for their behavior when they/we get hyperfocused or too excited at certain things that "normal" people (not neurodivergent) dont do, so the final message is really a hit on modern society because they want to publicly say "yes, we now know there is neurodivergent people and they are different, but we still dont like how they behave because is different from us non-neurodivergent people" so rumi just said "f#ck all that, we do it so we accept all as they are for who they are, let just take the haters away"

Amazing reaction. Got this four months ago and it was chilling. I definitely cried during this. It might have something to do with the fact that my partner of 11 years left me while I was watching it the first time (seriously, life is bizarre). Took me this long to come back and be able to watch and enjoy it properly, just a great watch, thank you.
