WOOOOO FINALE TIME BAYBEEE!!!

Dragon0921

This Thursday they'll be talking about season 4 as well as their new series based on their 2nd campaign, The Mighty Nein! Hopefully we'll get some trailers to react to on that day! 🤞🤞

EDHPlayer

“We are his blood” has to be the most ominous of chants throughout the series. When Delilah first said it, it sounded more of a cult phrase praising the Whispered One. Then Zerxus said it and we are left wondering wtf an archdevil is doing serving a necromantic god. And now we have a legitimate cult gathering chanting it as they bleed before what we are left to assume is a fragment of said god. I love the foreshadowing in TLOVM but in the campaign proper, the hints were WAY more abundant and subtle. Campaign 2 has one of the best payoffs for Matt’s tiny lore drops

8:40 - This is all actually original to the animated series, as Raishan was killed BEFORE she could complete the ritual! 12:12 - Yes she is and she's my absolute favorite! 🥰 Though she didn't have the honor of killing Raishan in the campaign, she DID get the last laugh on Raishan by successfully casting "Feeble Mind" on her. This reduced the "Diseased Deceiver" to a mindless beast unable to cast spells. This was such a victory for Keyleth/Marisha she ended up following off her chair in excitement! 😂 22:00 - That's good ol' Matt Mercer, who has also voiced Sylas Briarwood, Umbrasyl, and many other background characters in the show! 23:00 - This is another Laura Bailey moment thats pulled from the campaign almost word for word. 25:44 - So that whole sequence is also new for the animated series, as Percy was revived fairly quickly in the campaign. Best girl Keyleth was also the one who made his revival possible by freeing Percy's soul from Orthax using the "Greater Restoration" spell! 28:10 - "Meat Man" was a nickname Scanlan went by whenever he did more...questionable ventures like drugs. 29:50 - This leads to one of the more controversial changes - the Bard's Lament. In the campaign Scanlan leaves on a less than pleasant note after Vox Machina brings Kalie to his corpse (he died originally instead of being in a coma) in hopes she could help revive him, despite him promising her he'd be okay. This led to a huge argument and accusation that the team didn't care about him and they only viewed him as a joke. Many fans werent happy they changed it, but they cast explained: 1. Pike was more active in this series as oppose to the campaign due to Ashley's obligations to her other show "Blindspot". This allowed Pike to give Scanlan the support he was lacking in the original campaign> 2. At the time they weren't sure they were getting a season 4 and they didnt want to end season 3 on such a bummer, so they felt a more positive departure would be a better direction just in case they didnt get greenlit (thank God they did!) 31:45 - Fun fact - You first hear a version of this song all the way back in episode 2! Kaylie was playing it along with Dr. Dranzel's crew in the tavern where Scanlan reunited with her! Give it a listen again! 33:45 - Again, Matt is A LOT of voices in the series! I'm sure you can find a compilation of all the roles he's done so far somewhere! What a journey! I'll see you for Epic the Musical, season 4 and the Mighty Nein series!

So in the OG campaign, they DEFEATED Rishan before she could put herself into Thordak's body Also, the chemistry between Liam and Laura is legendary; this campaign and the Age of Umbra mini-campaign is probably the best examples of it, and you see shades of it in campaign three where their characters are co-leading the party. I will just end this comment with this . . . THE WHISPERED ONE COMETH!

Sam Riegel (Scanlan's VA) recorded ,,Circle the world" (the last song) the night before his cancer surgery on his trouth... He recuvered afterwards quickly and went back into playing DnD with his friends.

Truly an emotional finale. But there's no denying that it feels a bit rushed. They had to wrap up so much in one single ep. Still love it, but man, I can't help but feel that this illustrates the perils of animation: you've got to deal with the finance you've been given to work with. And oftentimes, it's not a whole lot.

The fun thing about this finale is how much of it is fresh & original. In the campaign, Raishan ate it before she could complete the ritual. But it's more fun to see her succeed, and then see how they overcome her after. In the campaign, Percy was revived in the same episode, but they knew they had to increasingly raise the bar for resurrection in order to respect the gravity of death. They had Keyleth almost dying, but not quite in S1. They had Vex actually dying in S2, but being resurrected next episode. This season, Percy died and they had to steal back his soul from a demon, revitalize a decayed carcass, and suffer necrotic consequences from the Goddess of Death. Makes you wonder how much it'd take if this happens again, if resurrection would even be possible. Very excited for whatever fresh routes they go down in S4, but even more excited for The Mighty Nein, their upcoming show based on the 2nd Campaign of Critical Role, which is my personal favorite. Depending on what news comes out of San Diego Comic Con, we may know more about it by the time this episode goes up on YouTube.

Super minor thing, but you looked away at the end when Keyleth and Vax were in that field and they showed Vax's corruption again. It really looks awful.

Chet Bliese

This has been an excellent rewatch for me. Noticing the lines and symbols that foreshadow "spoiler" has been a treat. I wonder how much the story will deviate in S4. Can't wait. Also if we get some Mighty Nein news this week, I will be so happy.

Vax has some very strong opinions on why he COULD retrieve Percy's soul... ... So does the Matron on why SHOULDN'T, and while yes it is ultimately his choice that does not mean she approves of it (,,the cost") - nor does it mean she ,,disowned" him like (seemingly) the Everlight did with Pike (to be fair Pike distanced herself first but you get ths point) - on the conquarery, I (and as I've seen many others) think that she DID help him --> ,,But it can certainly be bent" was very much a middle-finger towards Orthax, but I think it (subcouncously by Vax) proved to her that while yes he did went against her, he still on her side 100%...

I was so ,,angry" she looked away... Especially with the lyrics there... That is some HEAVY forshadowing (IF it is)

*You can hear whispers in the distance... Uk'otoa* - Im at episode 59

Oh I’m talking about something much later on. It’s a moment where Marisha’s notes all come together. In a sense, she full on becomes that meme from Always Sunny in Philadelphia where Charlie is in front of the conspiracy board. You’ll know it when you see it, but it is FAR from where you are

Eliteguard99

Man, having to wait till this November is such a bummer, I really enjoyed Elijhah's reactions to Vox Machina.

Suplee215

I am unsure how familiar you are with DND but Raishan became what is essentially a Dracolich. Its like a Lich, the big bad evil necromancer cliche but also a dragon. Yes it is horrifying.

Kaylin Ashe

In the campaign Vax becomes a revenant when he becomes the Matron’s champion and is technically not fully alive but not really dead either from that point onward. I like how they hint at that aspect of being the champion in the show, and linking it to Vax kind of bending the rules a little too far. It’s not the only time that he pulls a stunt like this either, but that’s explored more in Campaign 3

Rye-Ah

I've heard this so many times before but I've got no clue how we came by this information! Do you happen to know the source - was it an interview or q&a?

Rye-Ah

Important but friendly reminder: please be mindful of spoilers for things that may or may not have happened yet!!

Rye-Ah

Circle the World went on so many of my playlists the minute I could get my hands on it - it's such a banger Besides that, the last scene is the final nail in the coffin for what has been multiple seasons worth of build-up. We've got confirmation of a SECOND spinning ball of death (the backdrop looks nothing like the Whitestone ziggurat) with a cult chanting the same lines that both the Briarwoods and Zerxus had said previously ...and a flash of a creepy skeletal face that may be familiar if one revisits the S3 intro sequences

LikeCat

From what I heard Sam did a post about it... (But I am not a 100% sure)

Aineyn

From what I heard in one of the interviews they put out, they didn't knew if they were gonna get a season 4 or not (which, don't know why; it might not be Prime's flagship shows like Invincible or The Boys, but it's still pretty up there nonetheless.), so they ended season 3 in a way that it could be made a satisfying ending but still leaving room to make season 4 happen! So that's the ending we got here.

Dragon0921

Unfortunately being successful doesn't guarantee a renewal, ESPECIALLY for animated series.

Ryan

"Sister, I would gladly give my soul for one day of your happiness." Well that isn't fore-shadowing, that's four-hundred shadowing.

Jace

This was a really fun journey to see you go through, Elijah! The only thing I'd ask is if there's a way to listen to the original instead of whatever version you were watching for future seasons. I'm guessing it was some streamer/reactor-friendly version that turned down all of the music, but man, one of the best things about this show is the music - not only Scanlan's songs, but the OST. The music reallllllly heightens the experience. The legendary Neal Acree composed the music for this show, and I think it was missed in the reactions because of the audio alterations you experienced.

I don't know what and how especially since I know VM and M9 turn up in C3... But it IS something for sure... And yet again I am scared for my little rogue boy (Vax is my favorite character out of VM - Hugely thanks to Liam's excellent role-playing skills)

Sarah Nara

Because I can't seem to post on the patreon Tiers post for some reason I didn't even know you did NSFW Art is there anywhere that we can still find it?

David Johnson

What I've read online guestimates Season 4 as sometime in the summer of 2026...so we've got a bit of a wait.

Aineyn

I mean, it's not Netflix nor HBO Max, so...

Bailey

I've fallen way behind on the VM and TDP reactions, so I might be doing a watch marathon soon lol

Chet Bliese

I remember Futurama ended several seasons with what could have been good series endings. It's nice to give resolution to the watchers, but it has to be torture to the writers.

Kiki Bee

I think Amazon probably has some software that doesn't allow streamers to use it directly. I can't even get screenshots from it.

Kiki Bee

Also because this was filmed RIGHT BEFORE Sam's radiation and surgery for his cancer. Like, pretty sure that the song was the final thing they recorded before Sam had to relearn how to sing and speak again. It wasn't just if they would be lit for a S4, it was also whether they'd even be able to do it with Sam

Kiki Bee

Yeah, Sam himself, spoke about it

StorytellerDave

They released a clip for Season 4 and also one for their other Campaign, Mighty Nein too <3

Bug Catcher Jacky

"Who do you think they're gonna call?" Me: Ghost busters! Lol, but yeah the bit at the end for sure was what Delilah was summoning. "The Whispered One" I think she called it?
