Rain

Not sure if you'll see this Elijah, but you should definitely watch the next three chapters together(10-12). Longer than usual I know, but its for similar reasoning as episodes 2-3 earlier. Just a suggestion.

supersoaker

On this night, Team JNPR was reunited one last time

SauceyRed

Oooh yeah Elijah tears time? Maybe? (Yeah okay I just saw her face in the thumbnail lmao)

BrightHeart

From the V3 finale "You're special the same way your mom was"

BrightHeart

Also fun fact Caroline Cordovin is voiced by Mela Lee aka Kikimora from the owl house

Dre

20:50 Ohhh. I love the transition from Red Like Roses to This Will Be The Day (the first volume’s opening theme). There’s actually a handful of times in the future where an instrumental of the latter is used as a leitmotif for Ruby.

LikeCat

I never knew that... That is amazing, given future stuff (TOH Ending-ish part of the second special) - 🤣

BGTitan

Ep 8: So, the VA for our little friend Cordovin is actually the same woman who voices Kikimora in Owl House. Mela Lee. She's does great, even if the character is just so...puntable. That instrumental of Red Like Roses during the Silver Eye talk has to be one of my favorite bits of score in the show. There’s some This Will Be the Day (V1 intro) in there too, but the RLR bit really resonates with me. Maria also just has the best lines in this episode. “Now, now, let’s not give up hope yet… Maybe she’s dead.” “Oh, Cordo, they say time changes people. But I see you’ve still got that stick right up your-” We don’t deserve this woman. Qrow said back in V3 that Ruby got her Silver Eyes from her mother Summer. It was Cinder's Grimm arm she was reacting to at Haven. At Beacon...I mean, there were Grimm everywhere, plus whatever Grimm bug was inside Cinder that she used to steal Amber's powers. Ep 9: Only in RWBY can your feelings be hurt by a single autumn leaf. PYRRHA!!! Also though, the fact that Pyrrha hated being put on a pedestal and yet even in death she still is. Owwwww.... Nora saying "we love you just like we loved Pyrrha" will never not hit me in the feels. Sam's delivery is so wholesome man! Speaking of Pyrrha, the “mysterious woman” (most likely Pyrrha’s mom) was voiced by Jen Brown, the same VA that voiced Pyrrha. I do find it interesting that Mercury’s father had a semblance that could take away other semblances (or maybe just lock them away?) and that he did that to his own son so he wouldn’t rely on it. Honestly though, considering the bits that we do know about Marcus Black, it’s not that surprising. And oh, Emerald. Emerald, Em, my girl. Wake up, sweetheart. Merc may have said it like an ass but Cinder does not care about you. She does not deserve your loyalty. Please. Em was obviously a street rat when Cinder found her back in the flashback in V3. So I think she's just latched onto Cinder super hard because Cinder gave her purpose. I am so hyped for these last batch of episodes! Oh my god I wanna skip ahead to the next two Fridays just to watch them please! Ahhhhhhh!

LikeCat

A few neat stuff about the Team JNPR reunion: a. Jaune followed the leaf because it is a maple leaf (Pyrrah's „simbol") b. The way „Forever Fall" (a.k.a. Arkos theme song) starts playing is just perfection. c. The Mystery Woman (who - to my knowledge - was never outright confimed, but VERY likely is her mom) is voiced by Pyrrah's VA... Yeah, poor Miles (Jaune's VA) had a field-day during that whole recording for sure

Liam Gradwell

Yep, this reaction was just as emotional, or even more, than I expected. It is definitely a hard watch, but still beautiful. 😢🌹❤️

LikeCat

Maria Calavera, you are a national treasure with these one-liners (Both the VA with the delivery AND the character), my personal favorites „Now, now don't give up hope yet *dramatic pause* maybe she's dead" and „Or maybe they just wanted you as far away from Atlas as possible"

Janice Marie Audio

WE GOT ANOTHER ONE BOYS!!! OSCAR HAS GAINED ANOTHER MOTHER

SportySpice

Obviously Jaune’s reaction to Oz is excessive, but to him in that moment, it’s pretty clear Pyrrha was just cannon fodder to Ozpin, conscripted into a war where she was destined to fail. Of course, the scene at Pyrrha’s statue ties it all together, recognizing his recklessness and feelings of powerlessness as well as his understanding that Pyrrha’s choice wasn’t “destiny” or chosen for her, but who she was. But I see why the Oz/Salem stuff threw Jaune for a loop.

BrightHeart

If I remember correctly her role in RWBY was also before TOH

Dre

Oscar Protection Squad is coming back strong 😤

Flufux

I'm surprised you didn't recognise the voice of your old nemesis Kikimora. Yes, Caroline Cordovin (the commanding officer) is voiced by Mela Lee, AKA, Kikimora from the Owl House...and to be honest, playing almost the same character. Is it in her contract to be playing short and annoying antagonists with bloated egos or something? Also, the incident with Cinder that Ruby mentioned was in the volume 5 finale, hence when she did have a grimm arm...however, as of this episode, Ruby has never actually seen Cinder's grimm arm in person. The only one who saw it and lived to tell the tale was Raven, and she didn't tell anyone about it before she left. Oh, and the first time Ruby unleashed her silver eyes, Qrow did say that she was quote on quote "special the way [her] mom was."

Dre

That would mean watching just the finale by itself the week after next, but I do still agree that 10-12 work really well as a group of three.

Verdant Crown

Pyrrhas statue scene never fails to make me emotional 🥲

Dre

I greatly appreciate these two chapters just giving the characters time to talk, deal with their problems (specifically team JNR since they weren’t around for the flashback story at the start of the volume), and recoup their motivations. Lots of great humor from Maria too. Wise sage AND old lady with no filter. Best combo. I do wish the volume had enough time to show us how Oscar was coping with things, but I think we can fill in the blanks ourselves for the moment. It seems that he went shopping for combat gear for the sake of his own nerves. He does genuinely want to help save the world while he’s still himself. And despite being younger and less experienced than everyone else he’s trying to be a helpful stabilizing force in the group. We can see that with him making the casserole for everyone haha. Not the best to kinda gloss over what he was doing. But there’s more stuff for him to do in the future volumes.

ActualBampot

Elijah has managed to dodge around most of the cliffhangers by having episodes back to back, so I'm looking forward to this upcoming cadence of chapters 😉

Rachel Mae

If I had a nickel for every time Mela Lee voiced a tiny old lady who is fanatically obsessed with her leader I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. The instrumental arrangement of Red Like Roses pt1 and This Will Be the Day is honestly one of my favorite tracks in the entire series. It just hits so hard. And I love Maria and Ruby's chat. CRWBY really said "the power of love and friendship and also guns WILL save the day" Love Tyrian or hate Tyrian you can't deny that Jessie Grelle does a fantastic job of voicing him. She's got the unhinged maniacal laughter down so well. (Jessie is trans fem and uses she/they pronouns. I don't believe they were out publicly yet which is why she is credited using her dead name, which it also seems like she still uses professionally anyway judging by their wiki page but I'm not sure) Also "Do what makes you happy children. Please I'm begging you." He was threatening them Emerald was questioning whether or not they should be doing what they're doing and he's saying yes please do defect if you do I'll be allowed to kill you And third and final VA note I have for this ep! The red headed woman is voiced by Pyrrha's VA, Jen Brown as well!

Suplee215

I think Qrow is dealing a lot with the lost of Ozpin. He isnt a leader. He just shadowed team RNJR and then got attacked and got taken to Haven. Then oscar with Ozpin shows uo and he can just be the 2nd adult. But then the rest of team RWBY shows up and a old lady joins and then everyone loses trust in Oz and Oz leaves. So here you got Qrow suddenly being responsible for 7 teenagers when he been a solo agent for years. Guy having a melt down makes sense. Of course the teenagers are all battle tested and damn good but they are still teens and qrow cant help but to think of him as the only adult in the room. Which can be terrifying b

"Oh, there's history there. Please tell me we get to know more about that." - We kinda already did see Emerald & Cinder's backstory, back in Vol. 3. Cinder found Emerald wandering the streets as a thief - like Aladdin - and gave her support & a sense of family. That's largely all there is to it, but it's clear Emerald is more emotionally attached to Cinder than the other way around. I love what you said about how Mercury could've turned out alright if he weren't so brutalized by his father. I think that's the core of how I feel about most cruel people in the world. We're always called to "try to understand" the people hurting us, and we do. We understand how they got where they are, we're still angry about the pain they're causing, but most of all, we feel sad that the people hurting others have been so irreparably broken. And we know we can't change them or save them at this point - certainly not in the case of people like Adam, for example - but we know we're not fighting those people out of anger, but sympathy. "Lost" is one of my favorite episodes of the series, and the statue scene is very thoroughly the reason. They touch on grief & loss in a way that feels more true than any other animated show I've seen. It hurts most when you're losing a friend & a peer. When you feel like they should still be alongside you. And you look for them everywhere cause it just doesn't make sense they're no longer around. I think they managed that so beautifully.

Vince

Fun fact since this was SO many tears; Miles Luna (writer/Jaune’s VA) said in either a podcast or CRWBY BTS thing said Jaune 100% just put a poster over that dent in the wall and didn’t tell Saph at all 😂 what a lil shit my boy is

LikeCat

Yeah... Just not wanna spoil stuff for Cordo's part later on.

Dre

Omg I just remembered the ending of chapter 11… I think for those of us who have seen the show know exactly what specific frame is gonna be next week’s thumbnail. 👀 🤝

Evil Queen

I can’t watch that scene with Forever Fall playing in the background without tearing up. Elijah if you get the chance listen to the lyrics of that song again highly recommend.

Rando

Great reaction to some emotional episodes! I still highly recommend Elijah watch the final four episodes in one sitting, since it is essentially one long finale anyway. It doesn't even have to be all in one video or anything but for the sake of her sanity, she might wanna consider it 😆

Benjamin Sones

Jaune finding the statue of Pyrrha was just devasting. Holy crap.

Martin E Melcher

I tear up every time I hear that OST. The next few episodes are gonna be absolutely wild

Kiesen

These are some good episodes, but honestly I'm just vibrating waiting for you to get to the final episodes of this volume. - Snarky old women rivalry my beloved. This too is yuri, in my heart. - Cordovin is based on the nursery rhyme There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe. - "Or maybe Atlas just wanted to get you as far from the kingdom as possible." I mean, she's not wrong. - Honestly I love Cordovin's VA's performance. She's giving it 100% every single second. There's not a single moment she's being normal. - The way the series handles faunus discrimination is generally pretty hit or miss, but I do think this is one of its better moments. It's small, but piercing. Plus it's nice seeing Weiss come around after where she started in V1. - "Oh yeah? Well, your face looks... like a big dumb boot!" <--- reference to Cordovin's allusion - I said this earlier in the volume, but I think it's really cute that once Ruby and Weiss were fully back together and reuniting Team RWBY as a whole, red returned to Weiss' design through that red scarf. - Ruby has always carried the weight of the world on her shoulders (and Ozpin's "advice" in V1 did not fucking help) but here you're //really// starting to see it break her. It's upsetting to see upon rewatch. - Last week I said I would bring this up, so: awhile back on tumblr I saw an analysis post regarding RWBY and specifically the characters with silver eyes and I've been shaken since, because boy did the writers do an incredible fucking trope reversal there. All three of the prominent characters we see with silver eyes are shrouded in death imagery. Ruby wields a scythe and her original design had crosses, Maria has multiple skulls throughout her design (and wore a skull mask before being blinded) on top of being called The Grimm Reaper, and Summer wears a white cloak. Yet, despite this, they are not harbingers of death, instead their powers make them protectors of life- down to the point that they cannot use those powers in the name of destruction, only preservation. - Semblances can be very wild. We're used to seeing very combat heavy ones because of the cast we follow, but there's quite a few weird ones, such as being able to make someone forget something, emotion amplification, telepathy (sort of), etc. - Honestly I wonder if Mercury's semblance really was taken, or if his father's semblance just gives that perception. Semblances are part of someone's soul, and we see they're capable of evolution, so is it really that easy to rip them out? Better yet, if you can remove them, can someone's soul regenerate them or perhaps create a new one to fill the void? This is just speculation on my part, far from spoilers. - "All you ever learned is pain and violence and now you don't know how to leave it." This pretty much summarizes Mercury as a whole. - "If it was easy, then it wouldn't be important, right?" I actually quote this regularly. It's good advice. - The mix of the autumn leaf, leitmotif, and song just ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - Pyrrha's mom is actually also voiced by Pyrrha's VA (Jen Brown) - "Pyrrha may not be by our side anymore, but we can fight like she is." This theme is genuinely one of RWBY's strongest and best executed tbh. When Monty died, the writers learned on a very deep level what it means to lose someone they love but still carry them into the future. It's a depth only the people who've lived something like it can really convey and you feel it through every inch of the series post-V3. I tear up whenever they revisit it directly. - The opening's leitmotif plays during Ruby's confrontation with Qrow. It's such a great and triumphant touch that brings the volume's theme together.

Lucifer_Crowe

I *adore* Tyrian as a villain, he just does it for the vibes. I've always seen that scene as the villainous version of Oobleck questioining team RWBYs motives for becoming Huntsmen.

Eric Smith

I always though Nora said, "your BASE looks like a big dumb boot." Since Cordo lives in it.

Eric Smith

Specifically, Qrow alludes to it at the end of Volume 3

LaviPastelQueen

I can't wait for more including these two not that I didn't like the first half of the volume but these last few chapters are definitely some of my favorites

jessie H

This episode never fails to make me cry. I’ll watch the park scene sometimes just to cry when I’m feeling down

RetroBeastto

We get a bit of a glimpse into Emerald and Cinder’s relationship in the flash back of Volume 3 episode 7 "Beginning of the End". Emerald was a street rat that stole from others with her semblance. After Cinder recruited Emerald, Cinder says “Stay with me and you’ll never go hungry again”. Just based off that I can see how Emerald sees her as a motherly figure (a bad one). So ye a lil refresher on that. We also know know that Mercury joined after Emerald did and he doesn’t see Cinder in the same light as Emerald does.

Caleb Winningham

I was going to suggest something similar given what I know about Elijah and what is in the episodes.

Caleb Winningham

So Qrow confirmed Summer (Ruby's mom) had silver eyes at the end of Vol 3. Yeah the gut punch of seeing the maple leaf followed by the Pyrrha statue is rough, nobody gets through this episode with dry eyes.

Globe Blotter

The Atlas arc is awesome!! And I also recommend watching the next four together, its like a mini movie

CrowOfAFeather

Great reaction, sorry about the tears tho :,) As others have pointed out, Summer had Silver Eyes too, as Qrow stated in V3 ("You're special the same way your mom was") And we saw Emerald and Cinder flashback in v3, where the latter took the former under her wing. ^^ Yeah the sudden Pyrrha statue always makes my eyes watery from the emotional gutpunch. I'm so glad they added it tho, it's closure in some way and I like it. Qrow, while annoyingly stubborn, is as you say in a negative headspace. He's used to everything going wrong with him around that he probably often defaults to accepting there's nothing he can do, especially after ch2-3. Two more reactions for V6 and I can't wait!

Enchanted_Echo

If you take a closer look at team JNR from Volume 4 and onward, you'll see that in some areas they're will be a small gap in the trio when they're together, that's because that spot will forever and always be reserved for Pyhrra. The Lady who was at the statue never got a full name or reveal as to whom she is, but from what we can gather she's Pyhrra's mom and she didn't reveal to JNR who she was because she didn't want them to feel sorry for her and apologize and all that because she knew who they were, especially Jaune. Also, back at the end of Volume 3 Qrow did confirm that Summer Rose did in fact have silver eyes (like mother, like daughter) and we also saw the origins of Emerald and Mercury for how they became under Cinder's thumb and throughout a relationship that seems to be in a certain way even if it's not felt the same way of all 3 of them. You are fast approaching to the final arc of Atlas until you are fully caught up with the FNDM we hope you'll enjoy the ride, if you would like to, I do recommend playing a game of refresher for Beacon's arc, you'll understand soon enough. :)

The Laughing Man

The scene with Jaune hit me really hard when I first saw it. What broke me wasn't that he was standing in front of a statue reminding him of what he lost. It wasn't the symbolism of the leaf leading him to that spot. It was the damn music. Forever Fall is their theme so when I first heard the tune I got a little emotional, but then when I heard the lyrics it hit me directly in the gut and I lost it. This was the first time they gave this song lyrics, as far as I knew, and it just made it that much worse for me. Absolutely love this show, I don't think any other show has made me this emotional over and over again as the volumes went on.

Kiesen

@Eric Smith Probably is that. Love very similar words. Both fit though.

Magikltrevr

Fun fact: The woman at Pyrrha's statue is voiced by the same person as Pyrrha, Jen Brown!

Potato

Pyrrha's statue scene is always heartbreaking and for so many reasons too. 1. Jaune followed the leaf because from their school days, autumn leaves were always pyrrhas theme and everywhere she was there was that theme so jaune seeing the leaf and not being able to help himself but follow it to get any little reminder of her. 2. The song that plays in the backround, "forever fall" is a theme targeted torwards them. Especially when you seen some of the lyrics being, some people fall in love for life (which could refer to pyrrha since time stopped for her) and, others never get it right (which could refer to jaunes inability to see her interest in him until it was too late) but both of them are eachothers forever fall in diffirent ways. 3. As a little bonus Yes slamming oscar was very out of character for jaune but one of the reasons that he had such a reaction is because pyrrha is always on his mind. To him in that moment everything from the fight with cinder, to the attempt ozpin made to push the fall maidens powers onto pyrrha now seems pointless and like she lost her life for someone elses lie which is totally valid. Thats why when they saw the statue they got encouraged that she would still press on even if she knew so not all of it was vain

Special K

OK, so here's my theory. This is not a spoiler, as we still don't know the answer to this in future volumes, either. Just a Theory. The show is very careful with the way it words certain things. We've seen this a few times now.... wording matters.....Oz asked Gin, "How can I defeat Salem?" And her answer "You can't. " .... YOU can't. Oz can't defeat Salem. I think he asked the wrong question. It should have been "How can Salem be defeated?" I think there is more hope than our team realizes. 🤷‍♀️

Sarah Nara

No matter how many times I watch that scene I still cry like a baby also I'm going to try to find an image for you it's from the end of season four when Juane, ren, And Nora are leaning on each other And someone photoshopped pyrrha leaning on them as well If anybody knows the image I'm talking about and has it please post it somewhere

Jonathan Smith

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but since Volume 4 Jaune, Ren, and Nora's outfits have had a splash of red, Pyrrha's color. This is also when Nora's shirt went from having a regular heart cutout, to having a "broken" heart (the 2 little cuts on the top right and bottom left.)

CrowOfAFeather

Jinn* :) But yes, he absolutely should've worded it differently!

Ryan

"Maybe she's dead!" Maria, always the optimist. The way Maria explains the power of the silver eyes is amazing - it distills the reason why we fight to its core. Interesting parallel - Mercury has no semblance and has mechanical legs. General Ironwood has a mechanical arm... and as far as I know we have never seen his semblance... coincidence? I think not! "Copy, paste, change a few colors." I mean, look at any crowd in any animated movie. Where's this leaf leading? To EMOTIONAL DAMAGE! And a new emoji to "crickey" Mosco with 🍁. I checked IMDB - she is also voiced by Jen Brown, the same VA who voiced Pyrrha. So technically, Jaune got to hear her voice one last time. So, we're going to steal an airship. What could possibly go wrong?

LikeCat

Acually, we kinda „saw" Ironwood's semblence before, but it has never been direcly mentioned in the show proper. It is called „Mattle" - Qrow kinda illuded to it in James first appierence (his little talk in Oz's office), his „yeah, and he got his metal head of his" (which could be his insparetion - not „in-universe" - of the Tin Man OR the in-universe" one - his semblence) which basically whenever he has to make a choice (no matter how big or how „wrong" he might be) when he decides on one it IS what he WILL do no matter the cost or morality - which is very good for a leader, a military leader non the less for quite a few reasons or can be equally - or more so - bad for those same reasons... To put it shortly whenever he makes a stupid decigion it is 9/10 times because of his Semblence

Eric Smith

Jaune gets to hear her voice anytime he catches Lisa Lavender on Vale's news lol

RenaissanceM

Every time…..every time without fail…..from the moment the music starts……tears……so many tears……..😭😭😭 Freaking Pyrrha......she truly was the best of all of them.......even now it’s still so hard to believe that she’s gone.......

RenaissanceM

Also yes, that is undoubtably Pyrrha’s mother. And I’m not sure if someone has already brought this up, but Pyrrha’s Mother CLEARLY knows exactly who Jaune is… She had to have watched the Vytal Festival. Saw Team JNPR fighting together. Not to mention Pyrrha likely talked to her Mom about this guy she liked….❤️💔😭 This was such a wonderful gift she gave him. Reminding him of what Pyrrha stood for, and that blaming himself won’t bring her back. Instead he should honor her by fighting just like she did. ❤️‍🔥

Arius

I wanted to ugly cry so badly but I'm at work 😭

Miholiday

Not a spoiler. Fun facts about the voice actors in these episodes. The person who voiced the red head girl by the statue is the same voice actor that voiced pyrrha. Also, the voice actor who voiced cordovin also voiced kikimora in the owl house

Michael Blacklock

20:30 - Cinder got her grimm arm after the end of V3, all the way through V4 and V5 up until the death of Vernal she kept it covered so we never knew. At the battle of Haven when Cinder and Jaune were fighting Ruby's eyes activated and Cinders arm reacted enough for Jaune to get a glancing shot at her mask

FanofFantasy

Cannot wait for your next reaction! Shit is about to go DOWN!!!

Hollyhock

The transition from you being silly goofy and then trauma as you realized what Jaune was looking at was just beautiful! XD

Hollyhock

Also, feeling like Oscar is your son is so real, we're all co-parenting him... As a fandom

Eddie Murphy

Another great reaction! So many feels in that second episode. A couple people kind of touched on this, but I can't recommend highly enough that you watch episodes 10, 11, and 12 together. You'll know why when you get through episode 11. They are short episodes, too; minus intro and credits episodes 10 and 12 are about 11:30 each and episode 11 is about 13:30, so all 3 together are less than 37 minutes. Hope you see this and take it into consideration! Also, enjoy! Because I know you will :-D

hannah davis

Next weeks reaction is going to be so good I can't wait!!

LikeCat

Aren't we all... ... And we know what will happen (when he starts to follow the leaf)

Verdant Crown

Episodes 10-12 might be best watched together, since the things that happens in them are strongly connected storywise. Either way, I can't wait for next week!

Lunar Blitz

i know people are saying watch 10 - 12 together, but thats 3 episodes and that would make a loooooong video. i say at least watch 11 and 12 together because 10 gives you that ending thats like "okay, i can at least leave it here but MAN do i wanna keep watching." 11 and 12 are the MUST WATCH TOGETHER episodes. but if you wanna do 10 - 12 im not complaining lol

Cinder's Apologist

The reason why Jaune is mad at Oscar: in his mind, Ozpin got Pyrrha killed. Which is not entirely wrong... Cinder may have fired the arrow into her chest, but Pyrrha got put in harm's way the moment that Ozpin essentially coerced her into becoming the next Fall Maiden. Pyrrha was pressured into assuming this role that left her incredibly stressed, and because of that, she got caught in Cinder's sights during the Fall of Beacon. Thus, Jaune feels that Ozpin is responsible for getting his partner and teammate killed - and don't forget that the rest of JNPR knew nothing about this before that night. Furthermore, Pyrrha was told very little about what she was getting recruited into, so for Jaune to hear the whole truth (more or less)... well, you can't really blame him for being furious that their headmaster sought to take the shining star of their team, turn her into a Maiden, and separate her from that team all while telling her NOTHING about Salem or the war she was about to be dragged into. Emerald was an orphan living on the streets when Cinder found her - we see this halfway through v3. She literally had no one, not even memory of a family. So to Emerald, Cinder became akin to a mother figure. She explicitly says in v5 during the Haven fight that she doesn't care about Salem "but I owe Cinder everything." That's why Emerald acts the way she does here - without Cinder there to protect her or "care" for her, then why stick around? Oh, and Mercury's Semblance was probably speed-related. His icon is a winged shoe, and his name? Based on the Roman god Mercury... the god with winged feet. The implication here is that his father stole his Semblance... by cutting off his legs, hence why Mercury has the prosthetics. Tyrian may be crazy, but he's not an idiot. What he says here is alarmingly perceptive... he KNOWS that Emerald and Mercury have reason to leave, different reasons but still. So Tyrian is eager to see them try to leave because then he can just kill them. I fully expected tears at the memorial reveal MUAHAHAHAHA! Yes, Pyrrha's memory lives on! (Fun fact: if you look at certain shots of JNR, you can see a space among them - usually between Jaune and Ren/Nora - symbolizing the space Pyrrha would fill) Really looking forward to the reactions for the next four episodes!

Cinder's Apologist

Another one of those moments where the music means everything... when you go back to rewatch the Beacon volumes, particularly v1, and you hear that motif of Forever Fall playing... and the fact that they took that motif and made a whole song out of it for v6. Pure poetry.

Cinder's Apologist

oh my GOD... I never put it together that Nora's heart cutout changed for that reason, but it makes so much sense :'(

Hollyhock

I also think that in his mind it means Pyrrha died for nothing. But then later he gets reminded she didn't just die for Oz, she died to protect people

May

In regards to Cinder reacting to the silver eyes, this is sorta something that’s only implied to the viewer though it’s hard for people to make the connection without a rewatch or googling it. They really should directly state it and maybe there’s a small chance they do in the future, but for now it’s only implied. In the Volume 3 flashback where Cinder takes half of the maiden powers she uses a glove which manifests a Grimm bug which is responsible for stealing the fall maidens power. We can pretty confidently say that this tool she has, presumably a creation of Salem, is why she loses an arm and an eye when Ruby uses her silver eyes for the first time. This is further backed up by the fact that Salem, in response to Watts asking how Cinder could be bested by Ruby, says “It is because of the maidens power”. Unfortunately, this tends to misled most people into believing maidens are affected by silver eyes. However, what Salem really means is that the device used to gain the maidens power is what is responsible, which indirectly means that the maidens power is responsible. I believe this is the most widely accepted reasoning by the fanbase, as it explains everything including Salems comment. Side note, we know maidens shouldn’t be affected as Raven was not shown to be affected in any way during volume 5 when Ruby partially activates her eyes which does affect Cinder briefly. Plus if maidens were affected then that means Oscar would also be affected as what makes maidens, well, maidens is their ability to use the magic given to them by one of Ozpins previous incarnations, which Oscar also now has due to his attachment to Ozpin. Anyway, Ruby of course at this point doesn’t know about the device or Cinders Grimm arm so naturally she’s still in the dark.

Jonathan Smith

I should have said that was my interpretation, not something that I have seen officialy stated, but yeah, considering it changed after the Fall, it does make sense.

Mare

LOL, this kind of is perfect timing since I was going over the Volume 6 Directors' Commentary from the Blu-Rays specifically up to episode 9. Here's some Commentary tidbits for those episodes since you've now viewed them. Episode 8 (Kerry and Miles) - Apparently Only Cordovin’s guards are so goofy (when compared to the rest of the Atlas elite), and Cordovin is considered a nuisance. This was a job they thought she could do well without bothering anyone. So apparently she's got an infamous rep in Atlas as annoying LOL. - "The Old Lady in the Shoe" was originally Monty's idea. The boot is the foot of a giant mech. And the giant mech was originally going to be at the end of Volume 2. - Kerry has been wanting an old lady fight in the show, so got his wish LOL. Episode 9 (Kerry and Miles) - Miles says that he likes to think of Tyrian as one of the most insightful villains. He is really good at observing people and knows how to take them apart mentally and physically - It's also mentioned that this is the first time we see Mercury and Emerald being vulnerable to each other. - They say they’ll never confirm who the Red Haired Woman is, but they said use your brains (Yeah when this episode came out, many just didn't connect the dots. Media literacy and nuance is dead) - Looking up at Pyrrha and seeing the airship fly by made Jaune think of the idea to steal one. I'll try to look up more fun facts from interviews and such, and make another post. I'm going to see if there's anything interesting in the World of RWBY Companion Guide book that isn't spoilery.

These two episodes really didn't do anything for me. I enjoyed the Phyrra memorial, but other than that I they were pretty mid. A common theory in the rwby fandom is that the redheaded lady with the flowers is Phyrra's mother. But I think she looks too young for that. Here's a few non spoiler moments that I can't for Elijah to see. "Besides stealth isn't exactly your, uh I mean you're great and I'll hurry back!" "OH sorry, just not used to the new haircut!" "It's like a cliff, and if I do it I feel like I'm just going to fall" ❤️🤍🖤💛

Girl just to clarify when oz starts a new life he doesn’t overwrite the other person they combine. In so excited for the finally even more so excited for volume 7 and 8 they’re the best volumes in my opinion. The writing and conflict is so complex and well done. Can’t wait for you to see. Also Maria is such a welcome addition to the cast you CAN get use to her.

Hollyhock

These are absolutely spoilers

Isadora

It would be better not to suggest anything, even if there's no context. A genuine reaction is worth the wait, so please delete those last three lines.

Phoenix_mercury

The lady has the same va, same hair and has lilys, theirs no reason she couldn't be Pyrrha's mother🤷 "looking" too young isn't *really* an excuse when irl people aren't exactly easy always to be able to tell the age off just by looking(for example I was out with my cousin, her son and her husband a couple months ago and someone thought my cousin was my kid, her kid was her little brother and her husband mine, the kicker? My cousin is literally a month and 2 days younger than me at 23🤷)

CrowOfAFeather

You are definitely posting spoilers, context or not. Remove it, please.

CrowOfAFeather

Pretty certain he still had his legs by the time Cinder/Emerald found him though.

Nektis Noir

Yes and no. The merge basically makes it so eventually the current host loses their sense of self and just becomes yet another part of Ozma. They keep their memories and such, we know that, but it is in fact basically an overwrite. There is no other person anymore.

Nektis Noir

Quotes, context or not, are spoilers. Please edit and remove those.

No it’s not an over write it’s literally a combination did you not watch the lost fable when oz was staring in his reflection and the other half asked him what he was doing? He had been in his new form for decades married Salem and had children and the other one was still there. Ozpin now has the qualities of the one as a part of him his manner of speaking becomes like the oz we know but the memories and such are still there so it is in fact a combination.

SportySpice

I think maybe “subsumed” or “absorption” is probably the better way to put it. Oscar will be another piece of the amalgamation, where it becomes less of a dialogue between mental factions and more of an internal monologue.

Nektis Noir

First off, "Did you not watch the lost fable"? Ive been watching since V2 was airing. Don't get attitude with me for not agreeing with your point. Second, we don't know how the merge has changed over the years. It may have been a slower process at first. After all, Ozs reaction to the other self in the window in TLF suggests that was the first time the other persona had spoken to him. And (SPOILERS FOR THOSE NOT CAUGHT UP) we know from a later volume that the merge is sped up more when the host taps into Ozmas magic reserves. Just cause it's happening somewhat fast with Oscar doesn't mean it was always like that or that the TLF interaction is an indication of what a full merge is like.

SauceyRed

I remember there being two theories, that she's either her mom or her older sister, and personally I see both as almost equally likely, but her being Pyrrha's mom would make it slightly more emotional, so that one's a bit more likely.

Hi-Viz

I'll be honest you guys are pretty useless

RyeBread

Another amazing reaction! Can't wait for next week's one, it's gonna be great. A little heads up since I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but when you get to Vol 7, I wouldn't watch the intro until Chapter 4 since it spoils heavily something from Chapter 3 onwards.

Summer did have silver eyes as well. It was brought up a few times before (Qrow's talk with Ruby after Beacon Tower being one IIRC), and Ruby is a near exact copy of her mom looks-wise. Maria's semblance was /Pre/flex, not Reflex. Sort of short for precognitive reflex. :p As for the eyes reacting to Cinder, recall the glove Cinder put on before draining most of Amber's power/soul. It made a bug-like Grimm and then Cinder got the tattoo on her back. The Grimm used to steal Amber's power was inside Cinder. It is generally assumed that woman was/is Pyrrha's mom. Even beyond the looks, she was voiced by Jen Brown, Pyrrha's VA.

Christopher Herrera

Elijah…. When cinder stole the first maidens powers she used a glove infused with grim that turned her arm into grim

Phineas97024

Please remove the quotes. They absolutely count as spoilers.

ElizabethTheMermaid

The scene with Pyrrha's statue gets me every time! I'm also going to add to what others have said and say you should definitely react to 10, 11, and 12 together

Alexis Staples

Not condoning Juan pinning Oscar against a wall, but they lost Pyrrha. She died because Oz pulled her in. Made her think there was a way. In their eyes, she died for nothing.

Arky

Is there any chance we can see you react to the soundtracks? They're so good and offer a lot of insight into character motivation/emotions for each volume (plus some fun feel good songs too)

Ray Knight

i'm seeing other people say that you should reaction to 10, 11 and 12 together and i totally agree. those three episodes narratively really flow well together and plus they're all quite short.

Daniel Wilde

im back from my japan vacation, and THIS, this is the episode i have been waiting for you to react to

Eliteguard99

I really hope Elijah reacts to the RWBY x Justice League crossover movie. I really liked it even though everyone else didn’t.

Solus

Same

NamelessSoul

Forever Falls gets me every time man 😭 Shit is in fact about to go down. I know the next react is already out and I cant wait, its a big one!

Wildgameseeker1

There's a theory that the woman who told Phyrra's backstreet was actually her telling Jaune her final goodbye

Alexis Cardillo

The Forever Fall scene always hits, I like that in RWBY Pyrra is never forgotten, some people seem annoyed that Pyrra gets brought up again but just because someone is gone doesn't mean they're forgotten and shouldn't be!

Vegvisir92

in all fairness....team RWBY are all still alive......Pyrrha isn't...because of Ozpin.....yeh Jaune lashing out at Oscar isn't exactly good but its understandable, plus how do they know Oz can't just take over at any point or is listening in? while everyone has it bad, Jaune, Nora and Ren lost more than RWBY did at this point

KawaiiDeathz

that was def Phyrrah saying her final goodbye. the way she talked and acted proves it.
