Fun fact: the channel Sorta Stupid reacted to episode 6 the day before the 2024 election

BrightHeart

"I love your voice" yep thats verosika

Suplee215

My feeling on wiess and ruby as a ship is asexual life partners. Theres caring strong bond there. Just doesnt seem quite romantic or anything but is more than not

FullmetalNinja25

There's a reason you love Robyn's voice: That's Cristina Vee aka Verosika Mayday from Helluva Boss.

BGTitan

Ep 5: Oh! Look! It’s my favorite new character of the Atlas arc!! Our very own Robin Hood… or, well, Robyn Hill in this case. Along with her Happy Huntresses (Merry Men). Cristina “Vee” Valenzuela does her voice, who you might recognize as Verosika from Helluva Boss. And I agree with her, if Mantle has a whole in their wall that’s allowing Grimm to just waltz into the city, maybe fix that first before relocating all your supplies on the big project. Just a thought. Might make Mantle hate you a little less, Jimmy. That montage is so good at the beginning. Especially love watching the Bees work together…. And Blake dragging Yang along to get ready for the day. And Blake falling asleep in Yang’s lap. ….Ah… We Bee shippers are being fed. Background Bees are so good, man. And personally I've mostly always shipped Ruby with Penny. Nuts n' Dolts baby! Ep 6: The Bee moments are going to murder me, they’re so cute. And then having Nora be like “you think they’re just friends? Really?” Like…. Ugh! BEES!!! Also, Weiss taking on look at the Bees and being like “I am not third wheeling that” and going to the movies with the boys was so funny. Suffering Weiss, my beloved. And speaking of Nora, girl finally got that kiss… Too bad it was almost immediately ruined by our baddies. I’ve always appreciated that Robyn never considered her victory certain. She kept saying ‘if’ she got elected, not when. And she seemed to be the only one actually concerned that the voting was that close. It’s kind of funny, Penny is being framed for murder when originally Pyrrha was framed for her murder. Ah, memories.

Dreanner95

Your reaction to the in canon Ren+Nora to Blake+Yang parallels was exactly like I was hoping it would be!

Dreanner95

Also I love how every question you have will be answered in future episodes. Volume 7 is constructed so well. An example you already saw is having Forrest mention Robyn and her Happy Huntresses in Episode 2, making the Robin Hood allusion clear and having Robyn appear in Episode 5 where her actions confirm her as a hometown hero, which is pretty clearly a Robin Hood allusion.

TheRavenWanderer

Talk about added immersion lol. Those dudes were awesome in their reactions as well.

FullmetalNinja25

Also Robyn and the Happy Huntresses are based upon Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Robyn Hill=Robin Hood Fiona The Sheep Faunus=Friar Tuck Johanna The Tall One=Little John May Merigold=Maid Marian

melini_29

Remember Pennys: "It'll be just like Beacon again!" from a few eps ago? haha yeahhh :')

Joe

It’s time fore rill thirsty Moms. Honestly I’ve never Sean Clover and Qrow as a ship. To me that’s what a rill guy friendship looks like. It’s just so rear to see nowadays. The voice of Robin is Cristina Vee.

Liam Gradwell

Elijah just loves Cristina’s voice in any role. I get it though. Her voice is just stunning! 😍 🌈

Lavender Onyxheart

Fun Fact, the Happy Huntresses have their own ship name, as the fandom ships the entire team as a sapphic polycule, simply "Very Happy Huntresses" it's entirely not canon, yet, but there are hints, also May Marigold is my favorite, for reasons you will find out later, she has an absolute fire speech down the line

Kiesen

My week has been stressful, so it's nice to wind down with this today. Onto my usual ramblings: -"This show makes me so unhinged" Me too, girl. Whipping it around like a dog with a chew toy. - I love Whiterose, but man Ruby and Penny are pure autism to autism communication. They're so cute. - These reactions are just turning into monologues about Bumbleby and honestly I'm here for it. - "He was a fucking dumbass in the beginning" idk man he's still pretty cringefail. I say that with love. - A lot of people hate Jaune's haircut lmao. I know I did at first. Though I blame the way it's sculpted/how it had to be translated into the show's style. It looks weird. - "You see? You have to watch them in the background. It's there, it has been there since the fucking beginning. I don't care what anybody else says. They have been there. Blake and Yang have been there in the background since the beginning. It has been there, just gotta look for it, either that or you're just blatantly ignoring it." THANK YOU FOR GOING AT THE THROAT AND DEBUNKING EVERYONE WHO SAYS THE SUBTEXT IS NEVER THERE AND JUST SOMETHING SHIPPERS ARE IMAGINING. PEOPLE ARE DRAWN TO THE POTENTIAL FOR A REASON. (Not an allusion to anything. I just hate the insane standards gay ships are held to, especially sapphic ones, even when there's so much to draw from) - As I said earlier, I love Whiterose, but honestly this part of the show doesn't really give much to it. The Beacon era gave way more. Nothing to allude to, it's just something I noticed as a viewer. Though I think it'd be cool if they made Ruby aroace. - There's actually a joke edit of this scene that CRWBY made where they changed the music to the Nyan Cat audio clip. You can see it in the final RWBY stream before Rooster Teeth completely shuttered. - CRWBY has wanted to insert more animals into the show, but have never really had the budget. - Ironwood ain't exactly the one to cut the leash on any person he commands. This unfortunately includes Penny. She deserves way better, so it's nice that Ruby fills in some of the void. - Robyn's VA is Cristina Vee. You might know her from, uh, Miraculous Ladybug. - Lmao Robyn gives everyone nicknames. It's really funny. My personal favorite is what she calls Yang. - Winter feels like she's carved out her own path, but tbh it doesn't seem like she's really stepped away from the same troublesome patterns that plague the Schnee children. One controlling figure setting her up for a specific path to another. - Uhhhh yeah the Winter winter maiden thing is very on the nose. At least she didn't choose her name. Cinder 100% chose the last name Fall. - The writers originally didn't want to make the plot political but felt it was inseparable from what they wanted to do, so they fully leaned into it. I'm really glad they did. - Nora is really starting to show her teeth this arc. She's had a few strong moments that go really hard, but she's generally a fun-loving and comedic character so it's a big "Woah." - Weiss has been (lovingly) exhausted by those two since Beacon tbh. - Congrats on not causing property damage during that scene. - Sadly we do not get to see the dance, but GOD have people made so much fanfic and art about it. In fact, they still do. It's a favorite in the fandom. - Oh Marrow baby boy you are so blindly loyal. Like a dog. - I'm usually not that interested in het ships but Renora is so good. Especially in this arc. What a great high note before things get worse. - Fiona is fine, but you drawing comparison to the sacrificial lamb adds a fun layer to this. I never realized she might represent that because it's so brief.

Flufux

About what you said about Ruby getting a love interest or not, I don't have any source for this, but it's heavily implied, and I think mentioned by her VA, that Ruby is ace, likely aro-ace. By the way, with the conversation with Nora and Ren, as well as everything else, pretty much confirming there is a thing brewing between Yang and Blake, it's not longer a spoiler to reveal that officially Blake is bisexual (like her VA) while Yang is pansexual.

Karel Hill

How many Bumblebee fan fics? Thousands. Oh you meant just the date night in Atlas. Like a few dozen at least.

Mare

Um...actually Kerry Shawcross mentions something ELSE about Yang's sexuality in the Volume 9 Director's Commentary. I can't say it here. But you should look up the transcript or a snippet of the audio. I believe Robin Rising (reactor) has it on his Twitter account.

Rachel Mae

That first sentence isn’t a fun fact it’s a spoiler and Yang doesn’t have a confirmed sexuality in the show

Rachel Mae

WHERE does Yang get off LOUNGING on Weiss’ bed making bedroom eyes at Blake who can’t even see her! she’s so fucking gay 😂 Truly the bumbleby shippers got fed this episode. Yang “if I’m not touching Blake at all times I’ll surely die” Xiao Long not taking her hand off Blake’s shoulder even as she turns in the chair. I think this was also the start of the fndm’s Suffering Weiss memes. She’s so fed up with those two but Oscar looks so happy when Weiss agrees to go with them to the movies. It’s also my head canon that Jaune finally got to see a Spruce Willis movie with Weiss “Weiss is out with ~*✨The Boys✨*~” Idk what it is about it but I love that line so much… the boys 🥰 Ruby reaching out to comfort Penny but noticing Fiona’s blood on her hands :,) I’m fine As for how I felt about all this when I watched v7? There were real world political election things happening in the US at the time which I won’t elaborate on further bc of the rules but I’m sure you can imagine how that added to the dread

Flufux

(Made a small edit based on Rachel Mae's comment.)

Nice, I can finally quote one of my favorite Tumblr posts: RWBY Episode 1: A quirky, klutzy 15-year-old named Ruby Rose gets accepted to a school where she learns to fight monsters and gets into wacky shenanigans! But watch out, because a mean old bank robber is out to get her! RWBY Episode 85: Ruby's best friend gets framed for a mass murder at a political rally.

LikeCat

The speech that - no joke - COMPLETELY flew over my head the first time around

Hollyhock

I'm so mad i can't watch this until later today 😭😭😭

Solus

I love RWBY, ever since it first came out and the fact it was made by Monty Oum, I remember being out on post when I was in the military watching his videos, even got a couple of people I was posted with into RWBY, I was a huge fan of his Haloid and Dead Fantasy works, I think this is why I just kinda got bored and fell off with The Dragon Prince around the 3rd season, it just kinda wasn't there for me anymore, hard to explain, this is just my opinion on it though. RWBY however is wonderfully done and it so sad that Monty wasn't here to see it, though to be fair he might have taken RWBY in a far totally different direction than what we ended up getting, but all in all it's a fantastic show, another great reaction by Elijah. --PS-- Has anyone ever seen the RWBY fan art called RWBY 3.0 that has some of the best fan art I have ever seen to a cartoon show in a long time, if yaw haven't seen it, I recommend checking it out, my two personal favorites are Ruby's and Neo's art work, they both by far look the coolest, in my opinion.

Ashley Silver

Blake is canonically bi, whereas Yang's sexuality is purposely left unlabeled. Different members of CRWBY have different takes, but Barb herself sees her as a lesbian fwiw.

CorgiSnapz

I think it's been obvious since the second episode of the series that Ruby is a scythe-ophile. Soooo not sapphic, but scythic??

CrowOfAFeather

Great reactions, especially over the Bees and Renora moments! ^^ Nora certainly is perceptive! I'm surprised you didn't recognize Robyn's voice, but it's no surprise that you like it so much haha! After all, you're simping for Verosika ;) Just because Penny is an android doesn't mean she has eyes that record every-and-anything lol Tho that would be handy here. So on a more fun note, there is a RWBY game called RWBY: Arrowfell that takes place during the mission montage in ch/ep 5! It's canon and made by WayForward and CRWBY, who provided the voices and cutscenes etc. with WayForward's Shantae-esque Metroidvania gameplay! It's available on all platforms so if you want to play a canon RWBY game, you could technically do it now or after V7. Just a little info dump there ^^ Can't wait to see your reactions next week, and Mosco's V3 finale tomorrow!

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Is that the stuff Dishwasher makes? I really love his Grimm Team RWBY verse.

Solus

yes

Mare

Kerry confirms something about Yang in the Director's Commentary for Volume 9 for a specific episode. It alludes to something Monty mentioned during an interview with After Buzz about the characters , during volume 2 and not long after Burning the Candle. I would love to provide the transcript here but it's too spoilery. According to Kerry, Yang is still going through something Monty had pointed out about some characters...He definitely confirms Blake's sexuality in that volume lol

Arius

I'll always ship Ruby and Weiss tbh BUT it's VERY early for that imo, I feel like it will take a couple more seasons before they even consider it... Slow burn

RetroBeastto

Robin Hill is voiced by Cristina Valenzuela. The same actor that voices Verosika Mayday in Helluva Boss. When I first found this out I was so shocked. Would explain why you like her voice so much

SportySpice

Now that we’ve gotten to this episode I think the theory that it’s just a semantic catch with “Salem can’t be killed” can be put to rest. The show wouldn’t have said out loud “maybe someone else can” (vs Oz as “you can’t”) if that was indeed the case. It has to be something else. I personally love how they handle Blake and Yang in V7 and the way they are attached at the hip. Flirting and dancing around each other but can’t help but always be around each other is sooooo wlw. They are afraid to rock the boat bc… what if they ruin what they just took so long to rebuild? The knowing you’re into each other but being too afraid to risk your friendship is sooo sapphic. At least that’s my read. It’s so on point. Reason they’re one of my favorite ships of all time. As for Ruby, Penny is her “person” IMO. Whatever that may mean, in whatever form it could take. That’s her person.

Mare

Blake can see her. She's even giving her a small smile back.

Mare

You should probably edit the "Yang' part. Because she's not confirmed Pan. Without spoiling V9 Director's commentary, using Monty's interview for Volume 2 (with the outlet, AfterBuzz) would give you a hint to what Kerry mentioned about Yang.

Thalia Robinson

Penny: It'll be just like Beacon again! Elijah: Immediately starts noticing the Volume 3 parallels...

Or slow freeze in the context of WhiteRose. (I myself go back and forth between WhiteRose or RoseGarden and WhiteKnight)

melancholymagpie

to quote penny's words from earlier this volume: "it'll be just like beacon again!"

TheRavenWanderer

The way she loses it at the Bmblby moments and her new favorite char nearly biting the dust on the very same episode (a curse I can definitely relate when it comes to liking/rooting for chars in media) is why I'm here for lol.

milkystross

Weiss x Ruby and Penny x Ruby are both extremely popular ships but I think its been implied a little in the show and bit more by VAs that Ruby may be aro-ace

Enchanted_Echo

Blake and Yang? Never heard of them by any chance do you actually mean the adventures of Yake and Blang :D Also NO BAD REACTOR for that joke! /j - I personally don't ship Ruby with anyone as nobody has had that interest and dynamic that I'm invested in sort of way that is romantic (not even Weiss as early on with the main goal they seem a lot better as just BFF's along with Penny too and in my eyes) (also she has been head canon as Aero/Ace and as an ace myself WOO representation if true) with Yake and Blang & Nora and Ren. I personally do ship Weiss with Jaune as he can be her White Knight sort of speak and though they haven't had any big moment together, they do have some sweet small moments I do enjoy and it's so interesting to see back during school Jaune tried to go for Weiss and now he's not at all, in my eyes I feel like he just feels so unworthy after what happened with Pyrrha - With Blake and Yang I do adore how they're being handled as with the first 3 volumes we see their friendship develop and hints in a way, with 4&5 their separated and see how they feel about what happened, 6 getting back to how things were and now with 7 and their adorable antics - With sparks it is my personal second favorite episode as I really enjoyed the montage at the start and a good way to show how things are and will be going forward with their skills, even Oscar and a way to chill for a bit.....until next episode. - Our Rainbow dash name is Neon Katt the cat faunus........you can take a guess what she's from - Our little lambs name is Fiona and we all adore her and vow to protect her no matter what with her being part of Robyn's team "The Happy Huntresses" because she honestly is really sweet. - From episode 2 you can see what Qrow meant when she's not a spring chicken. She's not dying from anything bad just age, the deal is for Winter to be the soul contact because these are the rules for the maidens: If they die with someone (preferably female) in their thoughts they will then get the power and best not male because it is too unpredictable and random if it'll go to them, If anything were to happen the machine if for a force transfer with the powers if it'll kill them from it (shrugs) and if Cinder gets them, she can get the power because of her Grimm arm. For the maiden's origin, this is the part where you should watch some of the episodes of the World of Remnant - If you remember back when Weiss was talking to Yang, and back at the farm in the woods, her mom is an alcoholic because of her father and his cruel ways shutting her out in a sense. - And in that same convo Yang was venting to Weiss about Blake and how she "feels" with her leaving sooooo Weiss knows somethings up alright almost with everyone in a way. - Just keep watching and you'll learn more about people and their motivations because down the line further more, things are not always as they seem. - With Ren......it is concerning but like he said and we've seen "he hasn't been the most talkative" soul around, just think on everything going on how everyone reacts differently. Also by any chance as we know you love RWBY if the reactions get longer I'm just saying I wouldn't mind and darn my prediction of 6 minutes for what Nora said was about 4 and a half......close enough I figured you would love that and the other adorable moments it has been such a treat. And last tidbit, one thing that I'm happy I'm not alone on...........the exact words Ozpin asked were "How do "I" destroy Salem" and she responded with "YOU can't" so that may mean she can be destroyed just not by Ozpin or even Oscar maybe even with someone with I don't know......silver eyes (my personal theory). But that is just a theory at the moment because as we've seen with our lady in a lamp they can be quite a character. In AO3 at least they are also #9 for most popular wlw ships too (sorry for all the rambling it's a bad habit on my hyper fixations)

Ryan

Chapter 5: That fact that you and Mosco are making an indie animated show together means we have a new euphemism for Sapphic couples - "Oh my god, they were co-producers..." "If I am on a drive that lasts for more than twenty minutes, I fall asleep." (Laughs in grew up in the midwest) My drive to school was more than twenty minutes. Ship them, ship them, ship them! Elijah's got a whole flotilla this episode. Do we need to call you... "Commodore"? Winter may become the winter maiden, Vernal pretended to be the spring maiden... if Summer Rose is secretly the summer maiden I'll flip my desk. If someone replies with a spoiler confirming or denying that plot point I will curse their entire bloodline so that mashed potatoes taste like stryofoam. Chapter 6: Speaking of Morgan, now that Mosco has made it through the gauntlet of season three, will you two be "encouraging" them to react to RWBY next? The trauma must be shared! "MA'! THE NEIGHBOR IS BEING GAY AGAIN!" I've seen people read Ruby as ace/aro but I also read Ren that way, too. And poor Nora has had an unrequited crush since the beginning. But that kiss makes me thing he may be gray or demi, which is fitting given his semblance. And the fact that the writers juxtaposed them and the bees is encouraging. You don't draw a parallel like that for no reason. I love the detail in the background that Jacques Schnee is gaining in the polls throughout the night... while you're distracted by the gae, you can see things slowly getting worse... This is how the show works, isn't it? Three volumes of buttering you up, making you think that things are going to be ok, and then a shot through the heart. And we didn't even get to see Yake and Blang go dancing!

Angelus Lupus

Gotta say I'm with Elijah on the good luck/bad luck ship. It's cute, even if it's not canon

Enchanted_Echo

The worst part being in November I randomly decided to rewatch RWBY last year and by the time I got to a certain episode it was a certain date and the absolute dread I felt watching and reading it all was.........not good for me

CheetsAC7

<3 Penny. It was a short moment during the montage, but I really liked the moment between Jaune and Marrow. Best puppies. I actually hope we get more screen moments of them in whatever way. For Qrow and Clover, it was the wink. That's just NOT something guys do AFAIK. So yea, I definitely ship it. For Ruby and Weiss, I definitely have the same feelings. Sometimes I ship them, but most times I actually don't feel it and really haven't since Volume 1. I think it revolves around Ruby herself being very team leader focused. I love Weiss' reaction to Blake and Yang practice dancing. She's so supportive of it but also totally over it. I'm really sad we didn't see the dance club in the episode, but at least there's great fanart of it.

Dre

I also really like reading Ruby as aro-ace. She’s not interested in dating or anything more. She just loves all her friends. :)

Dre

It doesn’t say on the RWBY wiki, but I also swear that Kobalt and Ivori (her other two teammates we met in chapter 5) are based off of that silly internet dress image. You know. The white-gold vs black-blue one lol.

On the WhiteRose ship side of things I am a big fan (but I'm also a big FrosenSteel [Ruby/Penny/Weiss] fan). I think its something that won't end up being developed but I do think that the neutral read is that it works as a queer platonic ship. They very clearly do care deeply about each other and that doesn't have to be romantic but there is SOMETHING there regardless.

Eric Smith

It's not on the Wiki? Interesting. I'm pretty sure that is the consensus on their allusion.

Eric Smith

Enchanted-Echo at least you missed most of the Adam drama?

The first part is a semi-spoiler, but the mods can confirm if it counts or not.

"There's moments Ruby has with Oscar that I really enjoy"- YES. THANK YOU. Ruby and Oscar are a ship which I am behind wholeheartedly, and their dynamic feels like something other than what Ruby has with Weiss or Penny. Rose Garden is surprisingly underappreciated, but I definitely see it. Also, the two kids fighting alongside Rainbow Dash and Trumpet Guy are named Kobalt and Ivori. The fact that their colors are blue and black and white and gold respectively is a reference to The Dress of the early 2000s.

Natasha Grimm

Cool little detail about the last episode is that we get to see Tyrian's semblance in action. It is called Aura Disruption and it allows him to cut holes in people's aura without having to outright break it. Quite the terrifying power for someone like him to wield

LikeCat

Rose Garden is one of those „end game" ships that I am fully on board with - Right up there with Renora and the Bees.

Dre

As someone who has followed RWBY very closely since Volume 3 started airing it is soooooooo nice to watch Elijah (and Mosco’s!) reactions to the show. They approach it with a glass half-full rather than a glass half-empty view. And they let themselves get absorbed into the characters (ships too haha) and the plot. It was sooooo common to just dunk and hate on RWBY on the internet for the longest time (it’ll probably pick back up when volume 10 returns 🙄). Not that the show doesn’t have flaws of course. It started as an indie project by a relatively small group of amateurs. There’s tons of criticisms to be made. But so many of them felt like they just came from places of bad faith. It made discussing the show honestly impossible. The homophobia was especially bad. “Blake and Yang are forced” “Blake and Yang weren’t intended to be gay—they’re just pandering to crazy shippers”. So it’s extra satisfying to see Elijah ship them right away AND actually pick up on the writing choices that bring those two together. All these Bumblebee freak out moments from Elijah are feeding my aura, and making younger me feel smug for being right haha.

Eric Smith

Him nearly losing the ability to speak over her eyes was so stinkin cute while also working as a chapter 1 callback.

beans

if your curious about what pairings were popular and what fan theories and discussions were going on over the run of the show, theres a youtuber called Eldena Doubleca5t that recorded a podcast with slides called Max & RWBY where she and a couple of her friends spend like two hours on each volume talking about their experiences with the show. they recorded it all after v7 but i dont think they bring up any spoilers past the point where your at, but as someone whos been following rwby since the start but wasnt super active in the fandom it was really interesting to hear people who were talking about it. also listening to a group of sapphic women talk about blake and yang for like 12 hours is a bonus.

Ann_Temki

The fact that Nora is good at picking up romantic social cues is one of my favourite little character bits

Ann_Temki

“Blake and Yang are forced” they say about literally ANY queer ship that becomes canon. Like something tells me it’s not the *writing* of the ship they don’t like🤨

Dre

FR THOUGH 😭 Also they try to use Sun as a wedge against the ship too. But that doesn’t have to be the case. Sun was important from a narrative standpoint because he was support for Blake during her arcs, and he was her only Faunus peer so she could talk to him in a way she couldn’t with the others. And yeah he and Blake did like each other. But even at the dance Blake said, “Technically yes [we are going together]. But my first dance is spoken for.” So the seeds for the Bees were there really early on.

Isadora

That fingers muscle memory though ¬‿¬ And the "inappropriate" comment. I love how much this show is making you unhinged, yay for longer reactions!

Bryan Forquer

The thing I love most about vol. 7 is all the adorable Bumbleby moments that they've given us. I will say that I am quite mad, that for the second time we have been robbed of the opportunity to see Blake and Yang dancing together. We didn't get to see their dance in vol 2, and now this time we didn't get to see them dance either. I do find it odd that Nora was the one to assume that there is more than just friendship between Blake and Yang before Ruby. Even though Ruby has spent way more time with Yang. Your reactions to each of the Blake and Yang moments definitely did not disappoint! This is definitely the tipping point of this volume, everything heats up from this point!

May

Yes! I get so upset with how many people say stuff like “I could write a better story than this” or “this is the worst story telling I’ve ever seen”. So many people literally hate this show and act like it does absolutely nothing right. Rwby honestly doesn’t get enough praise. People don’t realize how impressive some of what RWBY has done is. While it has flaws, I also can’t think of any show that so many episodes and doesn’t have flaws. I mean sometimes, especially with indie projects, the flaws sorta add to its charm. In my opinion, anything that gains such a significant fanbase has clearly done at least something right. So it’s absurd to see people act as though it has no redeeming qualities. This is why I hate videos that so heavily criticize popular shows without even acknowledging the good qualities. Criticism is good, but I think when critiquing things you should also mention what it does well too, otherwise it just comes off as extremely negative.

Enchanted_Echo

I've been all caught up with RWBY since last year and I am so stupid that I just realized thanks to you his semblance because I just thought it was with his tail when no that's just part of being Faunus and never looked more into it. So Thank you

Enchanted_Echo

With Rose garden I want to like, but the complexity of Ozpin comes in because let's say Oscar does have a crush on Ruby and when Oscar and Ozpin do merge......does that mean Ruby is technically in a relationship with Ozpin as Oscar is no longer Oscar. That's just my deal with it I know it's complex but that's what's on my mind on it. Plus I would like it if the two of them had more 1 on 1 bonding together but that's just me

May

It’s unfortunate I really cant talk about Volumes 8-9 without spoilers, but I think that even with Ruby and Oscar having less interactions in the show then Ruby and her teammates, it definitely seems like Oscar is able to understand Ruby better then anyone of the others. In my opinion, Vol 9 definitely supports that idea. I’m curious how volume 10 and hopefully later volumes will go. I definitely wouldn’t ignore the possibility of this ship becoming canon.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

I was always a shipper of Ruby and Weiss. Since they first met. I was never against a Blake and Yang. I just thought Blake and Sun was the Endgame when Blake heared a choir singing when their eyes met. I am know on a Juane and Weiss ship. I remember when Yang said to Juane "one day" after Weiss turned him down for a date. That will kill my White Rose ship but Juane deserves to be happy. If Ozpins soul leaves Oscar then He and Ruby being a couple if fine, but if he is still in there then I think it would be creepy. Oh, and My Qrow/Winter ship has switched to a Qrow/Clover ship. Sorry Winter

The one ship with Ruby I can not get over is Nuts and dolts (Ruby and Penny). I ship them as much as you ship Blake and Yang but the Bees are definitely second fav ship for me. Ruby and Oscar is my second fav ship with Ruby with Ruby and Weiss being third.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

I'm expecting that they'll find some way to save Oscar from being fully assimilated by Ozpin. It just doesn't feel like that kind of show, and Ozpin's whole arc is pointing to finally being allowed to die by the end.

Meet the Happy Huntresses, Robyn Hill (one of the more... On the nose allutions lets be real), Fiona Thyme (Our resident sheep girl), May Marigold (the blue haired girl... Surname ring any bells Elijah?) and Johanna Greenleaf (who looks kinda like Huntara from Shera... Just me?)

Evil Queen

Watching this show from the start of it airing, I’m on the in between with the Weiss and Ruby ship, sometimes it makes sense, other times not really, same with the Jaune(Pyrrha will always be main) and Weiss ship throughout. I’m a huge Blake and Yang shipper that became more progressive over time and I did want it from the start of watching the show. Ren and Nora were huge with everyone in the community so that kiss was widely anticipated. Crow and Clover I do ship as well. Was waiting for that reaction to Nora and Ren’s commentary on Blake and Yang, that run around was how I reacted the first time this episode aired. Can’t wait for Elijah’s reaction to the next couple of volumes they are my favorite, especially 8 and 9! ❤️🤍🖤💛

Eryn DraGaunt

Because she said she always gets sleepy in the car after about 20 minutes

Angelus Lupus

Is it? I'm watching these at the same speed as Elijah so I don't know what happens in future episodes. I just know someone commented on the last episode that it wasn't.

LikeCat

„Not canon" can mean a lot of things, if you watch the show with her or if you rewatch it on a regular basis.

Icebelle

Ah I love when Elijah gets so exited with sapphic ships!!Catradora, Lumity and now Bumblebee🥹🥰😍😭💖❤️❤️❤️

Yannara Negre

She is not confirmed Pan but the show itself and the Chibi series gives us some clues.

Hollyhock

When this episode first came out my very first reaction to Nora's "Friends, huh? Just friends?" and Ren's "What else... would they be?" Was also "Holy fuck they're actually doing this."

Hollyhock

Yang isn't just laying on Weiss's bed, she's also got her whole ass cowboy boots on her blanket. WEISS DO SOMETHING

Lunar Goddess

Omg so good. The sapphic stuff, the Nora and Ren stuff, all of it

Ryan

Except this time the redhead smooched her crush *before* everything went to shit!

Mimi

I also really loved Qrow/Clover when this season was airing, so I'm really glad to see you are seeing exactly what I saw in them haha! Bumbleby and Ren/Nora too of course, I am so happy you are enjoying them all! I also LOVEEE Oscar and I love your theories on what his semblance could be, hes one of my favorite characters <3

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

So Pyrrha kisses Jaune, and Beacon Tower promptly falls. Nora kisses Ren, and the party they're at is interrupted by a murder spree. Clearly the moral here is NO KISSING!!!!!

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

Doesn't she also play Marinette in the English dub of Miraculous Ladybug?

AJ

I saw someone on Reddit jokingly say that the reason Blake and Ruby are on top of the sheets is because they heard Penny coming down the hall and they quickly jumped back to their bunk after spending the night cuddling under the covers with their partners. 🥰

Alexis Cardillo

Yeah seeing the Party Massacre and Penny being framed for it hurt, my reaction was the same as yours. Fun fact about Robyn, the reason you like her voice is because she's voiced by Cristine Vee who has also voices Verosika Mayday from Helluva Boss, that's why. XD

SauceyRed

I'm the same when it comes to White Rose, I go back and forth. At any given point I could give a different answer depending on how I feel. But I do think White Rose is cute and I would be happy if that ended up reality. That being said, I wouldn't be upset about Rose Garden, or aromantic Ruby. Nuts and Dolts is also cute.

SauceyRed

Oh my god Elijah I relate so hard with the falling asleep on long trips thing! I'm the exact same. There was one time I actually fell asleep on a bus and woke up one stop too late. On my last road trip with one of my best friends I ended up sleeping most of the time on the way to and from our destination. Also my mom has told me several times that when I was a kid (like from my toddler era) she and my dad would take me on short car trips around the neighborhood/city just to get me to asleep lmao. Cars are just so strangely cozy to fall asleep in, despite not being that comfortable without a neck pillow lmao

Quentin.

Oh yeah. Welcome, my friends, to the Atlas Arc. Here… we… go.

Mare

One of the reasons that Nora would pick up on the whole "Yang and Blake" thing is because she's very familiar with the signs of romance as she herself is in a similar predicament so she has the nuance. Whereas, Ruby is not experienced in Romance(R) because her mind is somewhere else. Also, this theme goes along with what CRWBY intentionally does which is subversions of tropes. From the surface, especially taking Nora's facade in the Beacon Arc, people have pointed out that Nora is too flighty and ditzy (yes people have called her that because of Beacon). Because some viewers only see her at surface level. But what they didn't catch was her nuance for people's romantic feelings for others...and several other issues. Remember the scene with Pyrrha giving Jaune advice about asking Weiss to the dance? Then the camera pans to Nora and she says quietly, "Practice what you preach, Pyrrha." Yes, Nora KNOWS these things. She's deeper than what some people make her out to be especially when it comes to "matters of the heart" because she's there. She's experiencing it herself. It's kind of why Ruby doesn't pick up on Yang's feelings on anything. Post-Beacon, Yang isn't the same person she's used to. Yang is more open with her thoughts now (or at least learning to be) because pre-Beacon and during-Beacon, she had the Xiao-Long trait of "Compartmentalizing and masking feelings" to avoid conflict. Those two sister's lives circled each others lives constantly to the point where it became a tad unhealthy and co-dependent. So when they encountered real trauma during their late formative years, it changed their outlook and demeanor on everything. (Burnie Burns talking about Taiyang pg 92 of the World of RWBY Companion guide) “He doesn't spend a lot of time talking about his emotions, but he’s been through alot. I think about men who went to war and experienced horrible things, but when they came back to support their families they never spoke a word about it. They took all that to the grave.” In regards to that, Ruby picked up those traits too unfortunately because she doesn't talk about how she actually feels, though she did open up a little to Qrow as we witnessed a couple episodes ago up on the bleachers of Amity Arena.

SauceyRed

I'm the same as Enchanted_Echo, I've watched and rewatched the show countless times through reactions over the course of many years, and not once did I notice him cutting through her aura, and his semblance being that rather than venom. So thank you lmao

Mare

LOL Yeah RWBY does like to do "Meta" when it comes to names of characters as well as their roles in the series so starting with Cinder Fall and continuing with Winter, it makes sense for their own roles as Maidens. Here's my repost of what I mentioned about Raven and her name back from V5 since you asked about Raven's last name and what it means or what it's based off of. So regarding Raven, Vernal's connection to Spring is her name but Raven Branwen is also connected to spring. Raven Branwen is based on the "Goddess Branwen" who has an interesting backstory. Goddess Branwen who was married to the "Sun" god Matholwch was also known as the "Slandered Wife." Her other descriptions, "She is a Welsh Maiden goddess of springtime, inspiration, and sovereignty. " Her physical attributes are Raven-colored hair and her husband, the Sun god is described by some accounts, with having Blonde Hair and Blue Eyes. Taiyang fits the physical description of the Sun God since his name in Chinese Hanzi etymology is 太阳 which means "Elder Sun." Here's something odd when you compare this to Raven: Branwen in welsh mythology, frees abused women from servitude and gives them a fresh start (could she have done this with Vernal?). I'm wondering if Raven is the subversion or secretly has the same background since we've only received bread crumbs as far as STRQ's history goes which is next to nothing right now. Her whole tribe might even be covering up for her for all we know. But to continue with the Goddess' backstory, She was the sister of Bran the Blessed which makes me wonder if Qrow also has this allusion and is a subversion of this brother. Bran was very protective of his sister. So far, Qrow hasn't visibly shown signs of this in RWBY. That conversation between Raven and Qrow at the tavern might have been a ruse to throw Salem and her spies off. Who knows? Now back to Branwen's story, she cared deeply for her brother Bran. So it makes me wonder if all of Raven's efforts were to also keep her brother alive as well but making him think she was siding with the Enemy. It would be a classic Red Herring which is the "Fake Defector" trope. And Monty did love his tropes while also loved creating subversions of them.

SauceyRed

Fair Game is their ship name? That's fucking awesome, I love it lmao

Vex Valor

Funny how you kept commenting on how much you love Robyn's voice. You know that VA. That's Verosika. I am back and forth on Whiterose as well. But what about Ruby x Penny? I really enjoy that ship as well.

SauceyRed

Personally I would be happy with Ruby paired with almost anyone in the main group, or with no one. White Rose? Hell yeah. Rose Garden? Yup. Nuts and Dolts? Adorable. Lancaster? Nice. Aromantic? Sure! It's really rare for me to not have any realistically potential ships that I dislike, but with Ruby, I would enjoy all of them, though I do think I have a preference for White Rose.

SauceyRed

The same VA as Verosika?? Holy shit, I hope I remember that for the next reaction so I can see if I hear it (I'm too lazy to check rn lmao)

SauceyRed

LMAO that's fucking hilarious

Azzora Rose

Being idecisive about who to ship Ruby with is understandable, as the show hasn't really focused on any potential for romance with her nor does it really need to, in my opinion. You will definitely get more incentive to ship her with Oscar in the future though, enjoy haha

SauceyRed

I remember that too, was hilarious lmao

Azzora Rose

Oscar is the hardest character to hate in this show tbh, I don't think I've come across a single person who seriously and unironically does. Love him too!

Luminaxtea

He's such a lovable little guy! :)

Luminaxtea

I've never really cared for White Rose at all, but I think I've just seen way too many tsundere/protagonist ships too find them appealing anymore regardless of how they spin it. Kinda like when you eat one certain food so much that after a while you can't stand anything that has it in it anymore. Similar concept. Nuts and Dolts (Ruby/Penny) on the other hand is my jam. I didn't ship them originally and I can't really talk about what really appealed to me about them yet without getting into spoilers, but they make me sick and I love it. Also, both of their VAs ship them, which probably doesn't actually mean anything, but it makes the brainrot feel just a little more real. Rose Garden (Ruby/Oscar) is also pretty good and super cute, but I'm very noncommittal about it. Don't get me wrong: I like the ship. How much I like it depends on the day though.

Cinder's Apologist

WELCOME TO RWBY VOLUME 7 MUAHAHAHAHAHA I am so giddy over the reactions to all the Blake & Yang moments. they really are so precious. when you got to Nora's commentary on them, I was silently going "LET HER FINISH! YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THE BEST PART!" yes, Winter is about to become the Winter Maiden. they sure have fun with their Maiden candidates like that. relatedly, I was going to point out that Vernal was the connection to spring while also being the red herring to cover for Raven, but somebody else did a far better job of explaining the possible connections to link Raven and Spring, so bravo! Robyn's VA is Cristina Vee, who I didn't know had quite a reputation in animated things. anyway, Robyn Hill and the Happy Huntresses were all top Atlas Academy graduates who chose to work down in Mantle rather than join the military. as a reminder, what is implied - HEAVILY IMPLIED about the way Atlas works differently from the other kingdoms, is that their huntsman academy funnels their students into military service. obviously not all Atlas Academy graduates end up being soldiers, but things are definitely run so that the students are being trained to be soldiers... or at least to serve whoever is ruling the Kingdom of Atlas. therefore, the Happy Huntresses are heroes to Mantle because they chose to help those in need and are fighting for the city down below, hence Robyn's run for a council seat. if no one else pointed this out... Neon, who you call "Rainbow Dash"? Neon Katt = Nyan Cat. literally, just look up that old internet meme thing. like you said, RWBY doesn't always take itself seriously! I can't recall my exact feelings when I watched v7 the first time... since it was my first time watching a RWBY volume as it premiered, I didn't know how to process the things happening, and I certainly didn't retain enough about the prior volumes to link all the little things together. but yes, the storytelling here is SO GOOD, and just like the animation it shows how they grew leaps and bounds. all I can say is, brace for the gut punches but also enjoy all the little moments of fun. and as someone else said: it really is just like Beacon again... and not in the fun way.

Cinder's Apologist

this is fascinating! I've long known about Vernal being the link to spring in terms of word association, but never knew that possible lore regarding Raven. I'm aware she has some plausible Celtic mythology that could explain her character design and motifs/allusions, but this is truly amazing.

LikeCat

This and another ship involving Qrow has one of favorite ship names EVER (I love the ships as well, but the name is amazing to boot too)

LikeCat

Tbf RWBY kinda screwed my view on „traumazic events in animated shows"... Vol 3 still HURTS don't get me wrong, but when I watch other stuff my first though when something tragic happens is „RWBY V3 was worse".

Arashi

Ruby's in an interesting point for me in shipping. My personal preference is White Rose (Weiss/Ruby) with a second of Nuts and Dolts (Penny/Ruby), Rose Garden (Oscar/Ruby) feels a bit weird to me due to Oz being in the mix. But separating my own wishes and just looking at what we see in the show, I'm pretty sure Ruby's Aro/Ace likely Aromantic, which makes her cooler to me being one myself. Still think she's cute with Weiss though. :p Robyn and the Happy Huntresses. One could call them rather Merry for all they don't seem overly concerned with legality as opposed to just helping the downtrodden. OBviously they're based off Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Fiona (Ms. Lamb) is supposed to be off Friar Tuck, Joanna Greenleaf (the tall, butch short haired blue woman) is off of Little John and May Marigold (the other blue-haired girl) is based off of Maid Marian. (With a bit extra on the side shown in Volume 8)

Mare

Thank you! I did a really deep dive into some research for her because I was REALLY curious about if and how Raven was connected to the Spring Maiden thing with any of her allusions. It sort of became an OCD thing for me to look up stuff for most of the characters. Like Yang for instance. We know that she is based off of Goldilocks and loosely based off of Bruce Lee or at least his real name XiaoLong Li (as well as her fighting style, which is Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do - according to a Rooster Teeth RWBY animator). But she's also loosely connected to the 'The Return of the Condor Heroes' character Yang Guo and the other character, XiaoLong Nu whose name means "Little Dragon Maiden". The character, Yang Guo becomes an orphan when his mother dies. He is eventually raised by Guo Jing and his wife Huang Rong, becomes a martial artist when enrolled in a martial arts school but then people are prejudice against him and he runs away and meets Xialong Nu who becomes his master and soon after his lover. But just like Blake and Yang, Yang Guo and Xiaolong Nu go through some trials and tribulations that tests their love as well as a long separation. The reason is that a relationship between a master and a disciple was heavily forbidden which parallels the faunus/human relationship and their own set of prejudices. After several years, they reunite and settle down. Weirdly enough, those two characters in Return of the Condor Heroes' ship name is "Yang XiaoLong." LOL Also some facts from the book: - Xiaolong Nu's weapon are literally "BEES." Technically ‘玉蜂針’, literally ‘jade bee needles’ since they are dipped in Bee poison. This is a reach but the fact that Yang Guo becomes one of the Condor Heroes at the end of the book makes me theorize that MAYBE Yang inherited the ability to turn into a bird herself....maybe a condor in Act 3. Again this is reaching but somehow, I keep thinking she's got some of her mom's magic....maybe. In the original books, the use for the word condor was more metaphoric than literal but I wouldn't be surprised if it was literal in the RWBY series.

Konrad Dunbar

White Rose (Weiss/Ruby) is my biggest ship for Ruby. Firstly since I'm a big believer in the idea the partnerships in vol 1 implied romantic relationships later on (and so far between Bumbleby, Arkos, and Renora I'm 3/4 lol). Secondly, I view their relationship having evolved differently because there was so much tension in the beginning compared to Blake and Yang immediately hitting it off. It's more subtle in my opinion. This all being said my OTHER biggest ship with Ruby is actually with Penny (Nuts & Dolts or Mechanical Rose) every since vol 2 til now. I also really like Frosen Steel (Ruby/Penny/Weiss) because it's funny to me that Ruby has a type for lonely Atlasian girls with no friends lol also I see you are also having Vol 3 trauma like the rest of us XD

Tigerhawk

I'd just like to say that in terms of the timeline, now or after the next episode would be a good spot to watch the Justice League crossover Part 1 movie. there might be one small spoiler in the movie but otherwise it does take place during the montage.

Wil DeYoung

I have a lot of feelings about RubyxWeiss as a ship. On the one hand they work well together and it's a sign of their dynamic that I think they would be a good match romantically, eventually. However the problem stems from the idea that the FNDM seems to ship any two characters that have any kind of chemistry together and sometimes it can feel like platonic love is left by the wayside. You can have incredible and deep friendships with people you love and I thing that needs to be shown more in media and accepted more. Also, this volume really makes me ship Nuts n Dolts (RubyxPenny) I just think the whole aspect of them figuring out what it means to be human together would be a creat crux to build a relationship on.

Mitch

WhiteRose is my second favorite RWBY ship outside of Bumbleby(blake and Yang) they have that classic roommates who don't get along at first but become inseparable to the point of almost being soul mates. I have been so looking forward to you reactions to these episodes cause the Bumbleby vibes are so good, plus I adore how on board you are for the Qrow x Clover ship.

EmberPanther

As for fan fics about the dance club, don’t worry. There are plenty.

Lt. Waffles

Every scene the poll numbers are in the background they were steadily balancing out up until the end.

milkystross

Personally ive shipped Ruby and Penny since volume 2 (its also what Lindsay personally ships not that that has any bearing on the show)

CrowOfAFeather

Pretty sure she mentioned it a little while back, along with rwby chibi and other stuff, she'll watch that AFTER she's done with the series proper. Personally I'd say she can skip the movies, but eh. Also if there is a "one small spoiler" then all the more reason she SHOULDN'T watch it yet. Spoilers are still spoilers.

Phoenix_mercury

I love oscar and ruby as a platonic deep friendship, I want more m/f strong friendships and I'm hoping they go that way with those two similar to Blake and sun, I adore the strong bond they have

Wil DeYoung

One hundred percent agree. Also, in my mind, the idea of Ozpin kind of kills a ship for Ruby and Oscar anyways. It would be okay without him in it, but the idea of a several thousand year old voyeur is kinda.... you know.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

I don't see RWBY ending in any way where Ozpin is still alive, it's just not where his story is going.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Raven and Qrow were mainly based on Odin's ravens, not Bran and Branwen. Not saying your theory is necessarily wrong, just that Raven's personality is mostly based on the idea of one of Odin's ravens not returning to him.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

I unfortunately have run into some people saying they can't stand Oscar because apparently he has no personality outside Ozpin and they can't stand how the writers keep pushing him over female characters. And like... no? All of that is just... wrong.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Tbh, I could never really see what was so appealing about Nuts n' Dolts because Ruby and Penny kinda just... act normally around each other? They're both naturally loving people who aren't subtle about their affection for each other.

Mare

I’m aware they are based on Odin’s Ravens but they are also based on other things. Like Qrow’s allusion to the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz because Ozpin’s main theme comes from that. The characters have their MAIN allusions which we are aware of but they also have other hidden allusions that they can fall back on. Well not so hidden if a person is familiar with folklore. Like for instance, Weiss and Ruby Rose are ALSO loosely based on the sisters “Snow White and Red Rose” another Grimm Fairy Tale that also has a Snow White not connected to Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Confirmed by Miles and Kerry at a Rooster Teeth panel in Connichi Germany back in 2017. Thr ravens you are referring to Huginn and Muninn. Huggin was the Raven that Odin feared would not come back which alludes to Raven though CRWBY deals with subversions. It’s like how interchangeable Blake’s Beauty and the Beast story is where everyone has been part of the “Beast” lore. Yang has been a beast at some point which also represents her metaphor for Goldilocks of her mentality and emotions being Hot and Cold or “Just Right.” But that also connects her to the Snow White and Red Rose story where they meet a bear who eventually turns into the Gold Prince. It’s why the series RWBY has so MANY layers. Don’t get me started on the Chemical Romance stuff. Well be here all day LOL

Mimi

Thats so unfair!! I think the internal conflict Oscar and Ozpin have with each other is really fascinating, and is part of why I find them both so compelling, but a huge part of the conflict is the fact that Oscar is his own person and doesn't want to assimilate into just being Ozpin!! Trying to hold onto his individuality is a key struggle for him, and its such a fascinating complicated story to watch play out. I love Ozpin just as much, he was and might still be my number 1 favorite in the whole show, but its unfair to say Oscar is reduced to "just Ozpin". I think they make each other more compelling characters because of their conflict together, but they are both really fascinating as individuals too!

Cathy Breuer

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but Robyn Hills voice actor is the same as Verosika Mayday in Helluva Boss' earlier episodes ; Cristina Vee!

Zora Brightwood

It took me rewatching this year's later to realize that Robyn Hill is voiced by Cristina Vee aka Verosika from Helluva Boss

General Tacticus

*deep breath* Man, I had to wait a bit and steel myself to watch the recap of episode 6. It's a good episode, but watching it the first time brought back... memories of watching RL election results come in. The minute I saw this... "REN: I understand Weiss' point though. A victory party does seem a bit premature." "NORA: Aw, let them have one sure thing." "They walk past a group of people watching the live election results on a TV screen. Jacques has 33% [from 30%] of the vote, and Robyn has 67% [from 70%]. " ...I knew where the episode was going, and I just felt sicker and sicker every time they showed a new and closer vote total. This time I had Elijah's shippy joy to provide a counterpoint, which helped! Still a tough one, though. Glad I'm past it with more V7 reactions to see <3

James S

Regarding shipping Ruby: at this point I just see her as ace. She never seems physically attracted to anyone (maybe she has a crush on Penny) and is a little confounded by the issues other people seem to have about relationships and attractions. Maybe she’s demi or something and hasn’t met anyone who does it for her yet, but I can definitely see her simply never getting together with someone.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

I can see some points where she and Oscar seem to have some chemistry.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

ALSO, can we talk about how pretty much every character spends their "night off" with a character they've had some romantic experience with- Nora and Ren, Blake and Yang, and Jaune and Weiss- but for two exceptions: Oscar and Ruby. They're both third wheels. And then by the end of the episode, Ruby is talking about wanting to go to the movies to see Oscar there... I'm just saying.

DominusInFortuna

I fully believe that Ruby had a *fat* crush on Emerald back in V2/ first half of 3 before she was revealed to be on the antagonistic side.

Kev Rink

I haven't seen the whole show, just as far as Volume 7. I'm glad someone finally said it. One thing usually noted about genies is the exact words. In this case... Ozpin: How do "I" destroy Salem? Jinn: "You" can't. I've been thinking that. Maybe Jinn just answered Ozpin's exact question of how does HE destroy Salem and Jinn's answer was that HE can't. Maybe if he asked "How can Salem be destroyed?", he would've gotten a significantly different answer. Also, there's more than one way to defeat an enemy

Christopher Groenewald

The set up for Blake and Yang was visible all the way back in V2. The fact that it took 8 full volumes for their relationship to actually develop makes it one of the better written romantic subplots in media. RT didn't decide that Blake and Yang should be in a relationship then rush the setup just for the sake of having a romantic couple in the main cast. It was small gestures and actions over time that brought the two closer together. First as team mates, then friends, then best friends, then something more.

Christopher Groenewald

When it comes to who I ship Ruby with, it's a bit complicated. RT have never officially confirmed Ruby's sexuality so pretty much anyone is possible. However there are 3 obviously potential romance interests for Ruby. The most obvious is Weiss. While I have nothing personally against White Rose, I do think it's the most boring option. Having all 4 members of team Ruby romantically involved with each other just feels redundant. We've already got Bumblebee and I feel like the two romances will be fighting over the spotlight too much. It would also diminish the friendship dynamic between team RWBY. The next obvious option is Jaun. Of all the characters he shares the most in common with Ruby. Both were placed in leadership roles they weren't prepared for and had to learn how to lead others. On top of that, out of all the characters outside the team RWBY, he is the person she's closest with that she isn't related to. If RT want to give Ruby a romantic interest that would last till the end of the show, Lancaster is the way to go. But by far my personal favourite is Ruby and Oscar. Like her and Jaun, Ruby and Oscar have a lot in common. Both are by far the most important characters in the story, a position that they had no say in. And both have similar energy. Being the "kids" of the group, both have those same childlike personally quirks. Going the Rose Garden route also loads the gun for an emotional execution later down the line as Oscar is basically a dieing man. At any point the Oscar went know could vanish for ever and Ozpin will be left behind permanently wearing his face.
