Always felt the episode should have ended with Oscar being all "All I want to know is how we save Atlas next" and then the last scene with Salem riding her Grimm whale coming after the credits, but then that's why they don't have me writing the show. ;-)

The way the scene of Oscar falling is shown, with him taking the cane and creating the bubble, it is implied that this is not his semblence. He activated the cane to do something and the bubble is the same Ozpin had in Volume 3. Oscar called it "Power" not "Semblence". So it is very likely Ozpin's magic he used which he now has access to because Oz is back.

There is a lot of RWBY after Volume 9. There is RWBY Fairy Tales, which shows different in world fairy tales, there is RWBY Beyond, which tells short stories set after Volume 9, there is the Volume 9 Bonus Anematic Ending, which you have to decide if you want to watch it because it is basically a whole episode which was supposed to be the Volume 9 finale but was cut. We know that the writers will adapt that somehow in Volume 10. And there is the rest of World of Remnent and RWBY Chibi.

I love this RWBY finale so much! Oz's speech about fear is so good and the build up of him coming back and Penny becoming the winter maiden, as well as Cinder's desperation and Ruby using her silver eyes, all of it never gets old to me!! I cannot wait for you to react to Volume 8! To me it is the best volume and of course it is also my favorite :)

I honestly think this was Jessica Nigri’s best performance so far as Cinder. The first time we’ve heard her sound so desperate. Love how everyone goes from “oh no” to “oh, her hair’s down, why she kinda hot tho...” in like… a split second. Every time. Never fails. Poor Winter. Lol I really had missed hearing Shannon as Oz. His speech about fear is just… so excellent. I think it was also one of the last bits the writers finalized for the volume because they were having such a tricky time with it. If I’m remembering correctly. I really loved this volume. Not as much as 6, which was my favorite at the time, but it was close. It’s a real testament to how far the crew have come. The only things I would have liked to see more of was RWBY and the Ace Ops having more bonding time. Really would have made episode 12 hit harder, you know? They did the best with what time they had though, so I’ll let them have it. Also, since you're reading Roman Holiday, I'd also recommend After the Fall and Before the Dawn as some more excellent RWBY reading material. Can't wait to see the Chibi, IQ, and crossover movies reactions once you're done with the main series. I'll never say no to more official RWBY content.

--Yaw, I cannot wait for the Vol. 8 reactions, I'm so excited for those reactions. I am also really excited for when she gets there the RWBY x Justice League 2-part movie crossover, and since WB owned Rooster Teeth when this came out, we all know that WB likes to put anything they own into their DC universe, like technically Scooby-doo exists within the DC universe as well as Mortal Kombat, I loved the Justice League animated tv series, I watched it growing up, so I loved that 2-part movie and I also can't wait for the Remnant stories and RWBY Chibi. --As for the RWBY Ice Queendom series, while I did enjoy it, there was something about it that just wasn't there for me, I can't explain it but I watched it just once and that was kinda it for me, I didn't hate it or anything but just something about that specific series didn't stick for me, I loved the animation but it just wasn't there for me.

The last scene always gives me chills in a good way. What a way to end a volume! Yeah unfortunately, no after-credits scene. V8 has one, but not V9, keep that in mind :D I wonder how long you'll simp for Neo lol Ironwood has officially gone full Tinman and thanks to his Semblance he's now hyper focused to do things his way only. Happy to hear you'll watch the WoR episodes, but you can definitely watch them all in one video given how short they are. Only 2 of them are longer than 7 minutes. I'm even happier to hear that you'll watch other RWBY content, and I hope Chibi is next after V9. ^^ Interesting that you'll watch the non-canon crossover movies, but it's cute you want to watch them with Mosco :) It's a good idea! Ozpin’s voiceover speech is one of my favorites from the series. This finale was a rollercoaster for sure. I do think this is also validation that Penny is a “real girl” if there were any doubts. Girl, don’t worry — youre not the only one who found bloody and disheveled Winter hot. Since you’ve already started V8, I can say ponytail Winter in V8 is *chefs kiss*. That was not Oscar’s semblance — it was Oz’s powers. Oscar’s aura broke when Ironwood shot him, so he wouldn’t be able to use his semblance anyway (even if he knew what it was). I agree his stance when going down the lift looks like Oscar/Oz are merging, whether Oscar is conscious of it or not. Frankly, it’s the only way to read the way Oscar moves through the Atlas arc, because if some 15 year old that was on a farm 6 months ago was talking around like that to adults all wise and and reprimand-y, I’d be calling foul. I would also say Ironwood is callous in shooting Oscar bc he knows Oz reincarnates (“that’s easy for YOU to say”). Love how we are 7 volumes in now and youre still always surprised by the finales having 4 minutes of end credits eating up runtime. 😂

The other day I was watching a comparison video of Oscar then and now (Vol 8 at the time) and his mannerisms and such are drastically different, not just in a „he had to grew up fast" but in a „the merger is happening more and more"... And its truely a fascinateing thing to watch.

First and foremost..................if you could reveal the details where you got the jacket and stickers I would greatly appreciate it because the jacket is soooooooo cool of my #2 and the blue and black combo makes my in awe of it. - Good call on Neo with her disguise as one of the guards. She was the silent one the second time but not the first one as she only has the ability to do that to herself for the time being and because of that can't make her semblance actually speak. - You can't keep getting away with this because their are some stuff that you hit the nail on but I won't say what but good job on you for that and I hate it at the same time - tbf I do get why Ren cried from that because that is essentially his partner and he almost tried fighting her full force (something he'd never do to hurt her) and Neo used that against him so it does make sense especially with how he kind of mask his own emotions - As Penny end up getting the winter maiden powers it truly does show she has a soul despite being nuts and bolts - Not going to lie I always thought it was depending on their aura not their eyes but I could be wrong on that if so my bad and I am dumb - Yay you are reading the book about Neo! Up front I've been meaning to pick it up myself however I am soooo terrible with my books because I have about 20 books I bought and haven't read and I keep on picking up more because I'm such a sucker for reading..........hope you enjoy though I heard it's reeaalllyyy good - So we have Cinder then Neo.......and now Winter so the Sapphic list (Lol) this is really fun to see also from what I've seen with the FNDM you have been going well with the herd - Winter for the longest time has been by Ironwoods side and when everything went down Winter got no context except for got after the maidens power, she doesn't know what Ironwood saw, nor what team RWBY is doing/done and as raised as a solider she will go for the solider route for what she knows. - Yeah it is scary with Ozpin away Oscar was slowly turning into him with certain words chosen and his mannerism. Oscar officially couldn't have used his aura as it went popped when Ironwood shot him dat thank goodness that saved him. With him back that might be accelerated and because of that, Oscar can asses Ozpin's magic and semblance which you saw with the green bubble. So officially not his semblance but more of a handy down, in a way how that the Schnee's semblance are hereditary. - Ironwood truly has went down the rabbit hole and really has lost his heart and become the tin man and whoo boy what comes next for him is a lot. - Cinder's Voice actress's name is Jessica Nigri and she does pop off next volume in my opinion and the parallel for Azula are very much becoming prominent. Same for also Neo's voice actress as they do such a good job with every word that they speak it's just *chef kiss* - Yeah I was sad no end credits too, luckily I immediately went to my favorite volume of RWBY thus far, VOLUME 8!!, it is what I like to call (as you have seen) the trauma of 3, division of 4 and the terror/horror of 6 rolled up into one and boy oh boy is it a treat, plus the animation eye candy upgrades too and lighting is soooo good. - There will be a end credit for 8 but not for 9 - After 9 you also have RWBY beyond: 4 shorts about some characters that take place right after 9 to set up what's next and a animatic bonus for what was suppose to be episode 11 for RWBY vol. 9 but got cut for budget and time restrictions - With vol. 8 there will also be a character that was touched on but not addressed too much that I think you'll take a liking to them, with their background and sass they bring - Last fun fact because I'm not sure if your aware, the reason for Neo's existence is because when volume 1 first aired, a cosplayer met Monty Olm and they were a gender bent version of Roman, Molty loved it so much he added a character even though they were in production in volume 2 which is why in a few scenes she was in she was standing in the background. And thus Neo was born As you started I hope you enjoy volume 8 thus far and with its continue watch, it is my favorite of them all, it will be a roller coaster. As Hazel said in volume 6 end credits "If you want something done right, do it yourself"

Something that always spoke to me about this episode is the fact that Winter was going to take the winter maidens power via the machine to transfer the power most likely the way Iron Wood told her too. On the other hand Penny took the winter maidens powers naturally rather then artificially which is so interesting because of how opposing those two characters ideals are. Penny tho a robot is very human while Winter is very robotic. I just love their parallels so much as they just show the two sides of Iron Woods forces. Trust me everyone had the hots for beat up Winter when this episode came out so no need to worry~

Speaking of your awesome girlfriend, how much did you giggle at her reactions to Nikki the Nuckelavee? I had a nickle for every time a show affirms a character as a "real" girl by giving her powers that can only be wielded by a girl, I would have two nickels. Penny getting the Winter Maiden's power is a twist I did not see coming. I fully expected them to go to Winter, but then for her to lose to Cinder and the powers go to Weiss, and in later volumes the other three members of team RWBY get their respective maiden powers. But look on the bright side - if Penny leaves with the teams, she can join Jaune, Nora, and Ren, and it can be team JNPR again! ... Uh-oh... mommy's home. Yes, Salem is mommy. Hear me out...

On the maiden powers colors thing... Its atcually kinda both... Auras are usually* the color of their eyes - with a few exeptions of Ruby (for obvious reasons) and the Bees - and thus the colors for the Maiden powers... But it is derived from the eye colors to my knowledge.

Yeah, there is a reason Winter is my favorite secondary character. It only got better/worse for me going forward. So glad you noticed that she really is giving Weiss a chance to run. I don't think everyone catches that. It's a complicated situation for her. I consider James shooting Oscar his event moral horizon. Maybe there was some hope for him before that, but shooting a non-threatening Oscar--there is no coming back from that. He was capable of this all along, but they did a really good job of hiding it from us. This is why the dinner party was so clever. I know there are other scenes in other volumes that also accomplish this, but I think the dinner party is a good way to sum up how they hid his Tinman status from us. We go into it so firmly on his side, because who the hell is going to route for Jacques? First, right from the moment he arrives: He brought everyone with him. Yeah, Weiss is seen earlier with an invite, so it's possible she actually brought RWBY, but they seemed to have coordinated arriving at the same time. That's a show of force. Then there are things said that seem off-hand or that can be easily explained, but show his need to take charge of everything. Penny is "under my control." Excuse me, James? She's not a remote control toy. He also makes Winter stand down. Yes, he's her commanding officer and Jacques is twisting her words, but that's HER father. This is the house she grew up in. You probably could have calmed her with a hand on her shoulder or something. It's been pointed out, I think, but, yeah, every accusation Jacques and the council and especially Robin make is actually true. But the worse one is after they find out the heat in Mantle is shut-off. Ruby asks him how bad things are. This is immediately right after the councilman says people are going to die down there if they don't get the heat back on. And James frantically checks his scroll to find out...if the secret about Amity is safe. We were told back in volume 2 that he responds to everything with force and violence, then they did their best to make us forget that.

Fun fact. Neo is mute which means shes not able to speak if shes the one transforming (like if its not an illusion and its herself turning into someone) it carries over and shes mute still obviously so no not the guard XD

The reaction to Winter with her hair down made me laugh so much, don’t worry, it was definitely a common feeling when this came out. 😂 The former Winter Maiden was named Fría, and I agree that she seems like an amazing Maiden and person. ❤️ Something I absolutely love about Penny getting the powers of the Winter Maiden is that it didn’t turn her into a “real girl”, it proved that she always has been. My understanding of how Penny’s aura coming from Pietro works is that he willingly gave up some of his lifespan in order to create and nurture a daughter, and as she learned and grew it changed from a piece of his soul to an entirely new entity, Penny. The comparison you made between Azula and Cinder is so true! I have tried to figure out what it reminded me of for a while, and now that you have mentioned it, I can totally see it! The reason why Oscar was struggling so much to stay with the group is partially because he is younger and has less endurance, but it is mostly because he had already been jumped by Neo and was likely hurting from that. From what I recall, the shield Oscar used to save himself wasn’t his Semblance, it was him tapping into Ozpin’s dormant magic. In fact, that green shield is the same one Ozpin used toward the end of Volume 3 to try and fight Cinder. Lighthearted notes The ship of Ruby/Weiss/Penny started becoming more popular at this point, and I believe the ship name is Mechanical White Rose (I’m pretty sure there’s another, but I am blanking. People also gave a very lighthearted nickname to the duo of Qrow and Robin, Jail Birds.

Trivia & Goofs for V7EP13 * Unlike previous finales, this episode did not have a post-credits scene. This is because the crew wanted to focus their efforts on the episodes themselves and avoid going into "crunch time" to spare the animators from being overworked * In lieu of a post-credits scene, a tribute to RWBY creator Monty was used instead, as the episode aired on the fifth anniversary since the day of his passing. * The episode title alludes to the emotion of Fear. * Ozpin makes his return after hearing Oscar's words to Ironwood, finding the bravery to come back. * One idea the crew had for the battle between Penny, Winter, and Cinder would have shown Cinder using her Maiden powers to bring the fallen AK-200s (Robot Soldiers) back to life to face Penny, as a puppet joke. Instead, it was changed so that she would break through the walls when she found them * In one script, one of the Aura transfer machine pods was going to be broken, with the one with Fria being intact. But because Penny is a robot, she could 'remote-interface in' and get the powers. But that still felt like stealing, and they didn't want to go that route. Furthermore, the crew had a lot of talks about how the Maiden powers would be transferred. They debated if Penny would have to kill Fria * In the episode, Ironwood was still expecting Oz to appear, waiting for guidance. The scene where he argues with Oscar was the final scene they wrote this episode * Miles Luna (VA for Juane/Writer for the Show) cried during the voice over session for Fria's scenes for the episode. * The writers loved the idea of ending the Volume on an almost identical shot from where they started * Qrow and Robyn being arrested at the very end of the Volume was added late in development so they could effectively be "parked" in the same location as each other for most of Volume 8 * Kerry admitted that he repressed the memory of changing a storyboard for this episode so Qrow and Robyn could get arrested during the last week of storyboarding for the episode. Just before Cinder screams and lunges at Penny and Winter, she is holding two swords, until they suddenly disappear from her hands. Between 17:08-17:10, Winter, who is at the far back, has her foot incorrectly layered over Penny's skirt, who is closer to the screen. The credits incorrectly list that Casey Lee Williams wrote the song "Fear" when she actually wrote "Until the End"

Winter saying “what did you do?” Was actually because of how much she loves Weiss. Winter has no clue exactly why team rwby is wanted and she’s just worried about her sister. That reaction, while the words suggests she’s mad and blaming her, is actually fully out of fear for her sister’s safety. It’s more of a “what did you do because now you’re on a wanted list and in danger, which scares me because I don’t want anything to happen to you” Also yes Cinder is now in her desperation arc. It’s actually nice to see a villain actually have a change of character rather than staying the same throughout. Also for future reference villian backstories at least in rwby are never meant to excuse the villains actions, just add depth to the characters and serve as an explanation. Cinder has done too much for any backstory to excuse her actions at this point. She’s beyond the point of redemption. Any backstory just serves as explanation. I will say you’re accurate with the comparison to Azula. I’d say Cinder is a combination of Cinderella, Azula, and you could say a bit of Zuko due to the eye. While it’s not confirmed, I honestly have no doubt they got inspiration from ATLA for her character. Anyway I wish you luck on volume 8. You’ll definitely need it.

I know other people have mentioned this but yeah the Maiden "flames" are the color of the Maiden's aura not necessarily their eye color although sometimes that's the same. A side note, you should go back and take a look at Blake and Yang's aura colors and compare them to their eye colors. Their souls are the same color as each other's eyes.

FWIW, I think V8 works best on a binge because it takes place over the course of a day or two. You’re sort of watching everything unfold in “real time” that way. Just a suggestion for watching, even if you still release it weekly!

I call this Cinder's Feral Era. Jessica was definitely channeling Azula in the final Agni Kai there, for sure. Winter obviously puts her hair up to contain her own power, it's the only explanation because I do agree she looks FINE with it down. Yeah, a ton of things happened in this episode but I absolutely LOVE Ozpin's monologue there at the end about fear with the song, "Fear", playing in the background. Funnily enough you can hear a non-vocal version of it earlier in the volume but I can't remember where off the top of my head. Once both you and Mosco have caught up I would love to see the both of you reacting to the songs, there's tons of lyrics that talk about the characters in them. Some of my favorites being "Red Like Roses pt. II", "This Life Is Mine", "Nevermore", "War", "Hero", and "Fear".

So the FNDM (RWBY Fandom) for the entire year between volumes was losing their minds. There were very few theories around this time, because the fucking WHALE. Like we knew that it was going to be Ironwood/Atlas vs Salem with Mantle caught in the middle. But like, the WHALE.

Boy am I late to commenting on this. I had work today and passed out as soon as I got home. Nothing will stop me from yammering on under every single one of these reactions though. - That jacket is cool as fuck. Where the hell did you get it??? I've been needing to get a new RWBY jacket since the hoodie I got from RT was not made of particularly great material. - Neo isn't to my taste personally, but I will admit she is beyond cunty. And has an incredible plot line and character. By far one of the best villains in all of RWBY. Which is a feat in a series with so many. - I still need to get around to reading Roman Holiday. I have it sitting on my shelf but I haven't had the time to read it (plus I need to finish the second book). A friend of mine loves it though and imported it all the way to Europe just to read it. - So many things I want to say about Cinder but that's commentary better saved for a different episode. You guys know the one. - This fight isn't super long, but god I love it. It's so ungodly cool between the music, set, and mix of maiden powers, the Schnee semblance, and Penny's robotic powers. It's- and dare I invoke the overused words of the early 2010s -epic. - Screaming crying over Winter and Penny's relationship. I'll be doing more of that in V8. - Both Neo and Weiss have to keep distance between them and their targets because they don't have much in the term's of bodily defense. They can't take a hit the same way other characters can. - Can we talk about how fucking terrifying this Winter Maiden's powers are? She turns the air so cold it fucking BURNS? Reminds me of the insane ice powers of Jaina Proudmoore during the Battle of Dazar'alor in WoW. Sickos who know will know. - I've fortunately never had to deal with dementia in my family, but you've got me tearing up with you. If it makes you feel better, Miles Luna (writer/co-creator of RWBY and Jaune's VA) cried during the voice over session for Fria's lines. They tug on some very specific heart strings. - Yep. There goes every last shred of Ironwood's humanity. Burning his skin off at Amity and immediately replacing it with metal signified his transition into fully becoming the Tinman. - I fucking love watching Cinder become more and more unhinged. She's lost all sense of control and it's driving her insane. I want to watch this woman trip and fall into puddles she compels me so much with her insanity. - Also, if you look closely at Cinder's left shoulder, you can see that the Grimm arm is eating off her flesh. - Winter's arm getting slashed. Another fine example of RWBY's restraint in using blood making its appearance way more sharp. If we'd been seeing blood spray the entire series, watching it splatter against the ground here would've just blended into the scenery, but because we haven't, it becomes way more wince worthy. - Girl if you think this version of Winter is hot wait until we get to V8. - We did actually see Weiss with her hair down wayyyyyy back in V1. Haven't seen it since though. - RWBY is all about putting significance in the eyes of characters. Unsurprising that the Maiden powers would show like that. - I listened to the credits song (Fear) on repeat during a bad time in my life so I flinch when hearing it now. It's so haunting and captures the very hopeless tone of this part of the series. - I adore Ozpin's entire speech here. I could break down every line but it really speaks for itself. - Lmao as long as Neo hangs around Cinder she ain't getting treated any better. Ice Cream girl deserves better than that hater freak. - I'm not actually sure if that is Oscar's semblance? It's never named, nor is Ozpin's, but it looks similar to the shield Ozpin conjures during his fight with Cinder. - That funny little whale is called the Monstra. Hope you like it! - We're totally gonna have SO much fun with Volume 8. Try to not rip paint off the walls when you get there.

If you're looking for more RWBY, I highly recommend the Fairy Tales series of shorts! They're a fun little bit of worldbuilding which foreshadows a lot about the future and past of the show. Edit: Also cannot wait to jump into Volume 8! It's my favorite Volume and I hope it'll be yours too. Everything that's about to go down is essentially like taking everything good RWBY does and cranking it up. It's dark, it's badass, it's heartfelt, it's got INCREDIBLE character moments, pretty much everything is perfect.

@man-of-bvz1n3ss I personally think she's an interesting character, but I do feel like some of her bite is missed when viewed through the show alone. A lot of her more interesting aspects are included in Roman Holiday which is to her benefit and detriment. She just personally doesn't speak much to me (pun not intended), even from an attraction standpoint alone. I can appreciate what she is and how she plays into the series, but I am drawn to other characters and villains much more.

And in comes the second to last notable Grimm, Monstro the flying whale/fortress. Based, pretty clearly on the whale of the same name from the Pinocchio tale. Well, there was some explosions. Neo is skilled, experienced and nearly always in control of her actions, the stereotypical 'Hyper-competent Minion' and we both love her and hate her for it. Volume 8 is on the horizon; the most frantic, traumatic, emotional 48-ish hours of the kids lives is about to kick off.

I'm so so happy you are reading Roman Holiday! it truly is a fantastic book (and so are the other two books by E.C. Myers which focus largely on Team CFVY). anyway, you are in for a treat with that book and just in time for reasons I cannot yet explain... however, you are correct about Neo's combat style employing a gymnastic flair combined with a certain elegance. you'll figure out why as you read the book ;D *cracks knuckles* okay, Cinder time. not spoiling anything because I'm gonna bring up what has already happened in show. you noticed the way Cinder is acting and sounding more desperate and reckless, which is correct. you are also correct in how different it is from the smooth and suave 'femme fatale' vibe of the Beacon arc. there is a reason... as many have observed, the Beacon era was full of facades. every major character had a facade - Weiss the prissy heiress bitch; Blake the emo loner with all her walls; Yang the party girl and thrill seeker, just to name a few. but as you delved into the story, you realize those first impressions don't tell the whole story, or they aren't even fully accurate. the same goes for Cinder. personally, I would argue her facade wasn't entirely false because she did display a great deal of control and coordination, pulling off a spectacular assault on Beacon and Vale, and she was triumphant in every sense. except for the fact that she then got badly mauled in a freak accident, at Ruby's hands. she lost an eye and an arm and nearly DIED. then she was stuck at Salem's side for a volume, barely able to SPEAK. when she goes back out in volume 5 and tries to grab the Haven relic, what happens? she gets tricked and has her ass beat by Raven - and she lost her shot at the relic. and thus she heads for Atlas to get the relic to redeem herself for her failure at Haven. point is, Cinder is indeed getting more brazen and desperate - partly for reasons you will learn very soon, but also because look at what happened at Beacon and Haven. even when she succeeded spectacularly at Beacon? SHE ALMOST DIED. that is traumatic as hell for her, it has to be. so why would she repeat that behavior from v1-3 if it didn't end so well for her? I can't say more because major spoilers, so I'm hoping you will enjoy what is in store for Cinder moving forward! yep, Ironwood is lost. Salem is here. but hey, Penny is a Maiden! all good things! *SCREAMS OF TERROR*

Oh yeah this finale was insane and it was the first time we didn’t get a end credit scene and that cliff hanger and waiting over a year to find out what the heck was going to go down was crazy yeah Cinder definitely showing that she isn’t as in control as she portrays or believes and it’s showing more and more, it’s just being going down hill for her since she lost her eye and arm to Ruby’s silver eyes. Keep that in mind when rewatching with Moscow

Vol 7 is so freaking good and this finale was fnatastic. 100% with on the Neo and Winter simping XD James fall is so heartbreaking which seems fitting from the tinman. Also I forget if I mentioned it in my last comment but his song Hero and the song that plays when Penny becomes the maiden Until the End are two of my favorite songs of the volume but also the series, so much emotion in them. Very excited to get into 8!!

It was made and sold by Rooster Teeth sometime in 2022 I think but it doesn't look like Viz is making them so I'm not sure where she got a new one. I hope this helps narrow your search a bit, sorry I couldn't be of more help :(
