HOLY SHIT I quite literally just got on my PC rn after waking up, crazy timing! ALSO YUP THE THUMBNAIL I'M SO READY LMAOOO

Theking

And thus begins my least favorite volume, Absolutely terrible in my opinion, I hope you find more enjoyment in it, and im excited to see your reaction, Just happy they brought it back in volume 9

LaviPastelQueen

Oh boy here we goo I love this vol it's definitely in my top 3 🥰 can't wait for vol 9 though it's definitely my #1 vol

Jittercritter

Easily my favorite volume, omg I can’t WAIT

Pdrs

now I want everyone to remember. half of v7 and all of v8 take place within like a day or two. they just fought off the first wave of Grimm and Ace Ops last night and is now morning. yet they are still fighting or moving. they hadn't had the time to actually take a break

Dreanner95

Remember, you already know Johanna (short green hair) and May (blue hair, invisible semblence). They are both part of the Happy Huntresses together with Robyn and Fiona. We saw them interact last Volume in the episode "A Night Off" aka Penny got framed during Robyn's rally. They were also there when Blake and Yang told Robyn about Amity but Robyn told them to regroup at their hideout.

Lester Wiggins

This is going to be one intense volume. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll scream for a variety of reasons. So grab a pillow/stuffed animal to hold on to, have some tissues on hand just in case, and stock up your comfort food of choice because you are going to want to buckle up. Fun fact: this entire volume takes place within just 48 hours (2 days) within the show. So prepare to witness one of the most unforgettable weekends of these characters’ lives.

LikeCat

And thus begins one of the best (or worst from a certain POV) Volume of RWBY - for me at least.

Niska211

Love this volume!! Would recommend watching first ep of volume 9 straight after you finish volume 8 just an fyi

Liam Gradwell

Same Elijah, that “No!” That gave Caesar level of “What The Fuck?!” 🤣😱🌹

BGTitan

MESSAGE FOR THE MODS: So I don't know if Elijah's files have this but this volume started doing content warnings. I think the first big one is in episode 10 for photosensitivy. But the last episode of the season had a CW for themes of life and death like SI. I just thought it best to say this now so you can give Elijah a heads up since I know she's not reading the comments herself anymore! Anyway! On to my favorite volume of the show (though the competition is fierce with Volumes 6 and 9)! Ep 1: I love that Ruby and Yang are both right. Hence why Jaune suggests going for both. I also just love that we’re getting some interesting team ups. Nora away from Ren, and Yang hanging out with non-RWBY members. And if shooting Oscar didn’t do it, shooting an unarmed councilman with no aura should’ve made everyone incredibly aware that Ironwood has truly lost it. And now not only is it this sense of duty/obligation/trust that is keeping the Ace Ops and Winter in line, it’s the fear that they could be next if they step out of line. Because if he’s willing to shoot an unarmed civilian… he’s capable of shooting anyone. This is my favorite OP, visually and musically. The “some roses” growl that Casey does going into the chorus is just amazing and I love the “Happy Ever After” changing into “Happy? Never Again.” It’s just so good. Ominous, but so good. Robyn and Qrow are…. Jailbirds. Hehe. I just think that’s hilarious. Ep 2: It's been a little over a year since the start of V1. School hadn't started yet when they made it to Haven. And then there was a two week jump between V5 and 6. And then we covered a few weeks in V7. So the kids would be 18 going on 19, except for Ruby who'd be 16 going on 17 (Speaking of which Oct 31st is Ruby's birthday! So happy birthday Little Red!). And Oscar is still like... 14/15? I’m sure it was completely coincidental that the two people shown when May mentions the other half of their team are Blake and Nora. My poor babies miss their partners. Penny and Ruby’s conversation is such a callback to the one in V2 after Ruby finds out she’s a robot. They’re so cute! Weiss going up the tube was such a meme when this aired. And it’s still freakin funny. The timing, the way Nora is so excited after she sends her up. It’s so beautiful. “…No…” And just like that this Grimm (named The Hound according to the credits) became a terrifying entity. And that’s not even getting into the fact that it can apparently manipulate its “bones” and limbs to be whatever. What a way to make the Grimm (outside of the Apathy) scary again. Also, it’s voiced by the same VA that does Qrow. Also also, if you go back to some earlier shots, you’ll catch the Hound actually stalking them. Like, okay sure.

supersoaker

Funny you thought about Aladdin when talking about Emerald, that's exactly who she's based off

SportySpice

I really love the split between the Idealists and the Realists, so to speak. And I think it’s interesting the two main ships split on those lines. You need both types of people in this world and it was a healthy disagreement over the best use of resources in the moment. Also funny it ended being the girls team and the boys (+tomboy) team. The Winter crush is real, yo. The ponytail plus the N7-ish armor is such a great look.

RetroBeastto

So something really off putting about the Hound Grim is that they were stocking Yang’s team the entire time. If you pose at certain points you can actually see the hound in the background if you look close enough which is just unsettling. So not encountering them was basically unavoidable as they would have met the hound one way or another.

Dre

The average runtime for this volume is around 18 minutes (with the opening taken into account). And it’s split into an even number of chapters (14). So two episodes a recording session should be good for the whole volume. Also someone else mentioned it but chapters 10 and 12 have visual sensitivity warnings because of flashing lights, and the final chapter has a content warning for themes of death. These warnings show up at the start of each respective episode and they should hopefully already be included in the downloaded episodes Elijah has, but better to mention them for the mods least she not see them.

Evil Queen

This is up there for me in top volumes, I’ve been waiting for your reaction to this and volume 9! Cannot wait to see what you think and I was hollering at your reactions to things taking place, hell yeah!

Enchanted_Echo

Ok, so as you can see with the first 2 episodes, Volume 8 (and 9) is/will be a lot more intense going forward than any of the previous volumes (3 included) and because of that by the looks of things you won't see it from the episodes you downloaded, but few episodes this season will have a few trigger warnings before the episode plays. I won't say what they are but here are the episodes to look out on for volume 8 specifically: Episode 8, Episode 9, Episode 13, ***Episode 14***

Flufux

The show does take place over a few years, but all in all, by volume 1, Ruby was 15 while Yang, Blake and Weiss were 17...but by volume 8, Ruby is 17, while Yang, Blake and Weiss are all 19. I'm not 100% sure of this, but it's more or less what I've heard on the subject.

CrowOfAFeather

And so it begins. I don't think you're ready ^^ "Don't talk to Neo that way!" I mean, considering all the bad stuff Neo has done, I think it's only fair. She's still a villain. "I think and want Neo to join team RWBY's side" I dunno, if I was Ruby I wouldn't want an enemy on my side who nearly killed my sister and has been a constant thorn in my side. Not to mention that Neo still very much wants to kill Ruby despite the latter not being responsible for Roman's death. Like, I get that she's "hot" but come on xD "I think she has good in her." Ahahahaha.... I'm surprised you didn't recognize the Happy Huntresses :o Granted, we didn't see too much of them previous volume, or heard them talk a lot, but that's Joanna and May you saw in ch1 :) "Her girlfriend being a Faunus-" woah there, they're not together xD You've seen May's Invisibility Semblance before ^^ When the HH took the military trucks and at the beginning of V7 where May and Joanna appeared behind the truck Ruby, Penny, Qrow and Clover were on on their way to Amity. Yep, Yang and co are around 19, Ruby is 17. :) Looking forward to how you'll react to the rest of the Volume, and V9! :D

CrowOfAFeather

No you're right, that's about as far as they've aged over the course of the series thus far.

CrowOfAFeather

Considering how she hasn't complained once during the course of her watching, I doubt she'll have anything to complain about this volume or the next. If she didn't see any faults with V5 then she won't here hehe Shame to hear you didn't like V8 and found it "absolutely terrible," I quite like it! :D

Globe Blotter

This is honestly the best animated, most intense volume (even more than Vol 3), and my absolute favorite!

Theking

I know, and im happy for that, glad to see you and her liked it, genuinely :D I like certain aspects of it but overall hated some decisions and the writing, but RWBY got me back for 9, loved it, Still though, I will enjoy hearing her thoughts on the volume, have a great rest of your day🙏😊

CB Jones

Councilman's Sleet's murder is such an interesting scene that gives a lot of information about where the characters are at. Harriet is definitely shocked but is enraged over Clover's death and willing to go along with whatever Iromwood wants. Winter is similarly shocked but feels powerless, both because of her physical condition but also because at this point she's already doubled down on supporting Ironwood and feels like she's cut all other ties. But Ironwood is the most interesting reveal. He only shoots one of the councillers, despite both opposing him. It's been a plot point that Ironwood holds 2 votes on the council, and the other 2 held him in stalemate. He killed one because it means he can officially outvote the council and take direct power, he didn'y need to kill the other. But it shows that he still still sees himself as a legitimate ruler regardless of what he does. The Bees being separated is a shame, but honestly I love their arc here. Oh, and Whitley has always known his father was terrible ("It's foolish to defy father"), he just never had any other choice before.

Kaykic

I hope someone tells her to react to the credit song at the end of the volume. Without any spoilers, lets just say that it kind of makes the feels of the season hit a lot harder.

Ryan

That screenshot bodes ill for Oscar... Chapter 1: Fascinating choice how Volume 7 ends with the big bad arriving in style and all out war literally on the horizon... then Volume 8 starts off so quiet. Focused on the characters... and saving the budget for later in the season. Move thousands of civilians into a crater beneath a flying mountain held aloft by a magical device that the villain is after. What could POSSIBLY go wrong? Elijah (see's Winter's new look) "Hear me out..." I'm listening. Chapter 2: BMBLB 2.0 needs a paint job... purple and gold, perhaps? And now for all the angst!

CB Jones

One thing I appreciate is that after Yang voices her disagreement she clearly starts to say something to soften the blow and clarify before Ren butts in, the conversation gets out of her control and time pressure pulls them apart. She's not against Ruby but the circumstances and stress make Ruby feel that way. Conflicts relying on breaks in communication can often feel stilted but it's set up in a very believable way.

Rachel Mae

yessssss "For Every Life" is my favorite opening track "some ROOOOOOOSES" "hear me out" about Winter is wiiiiiild. Bestie we've been waiting for you to simp for Winter since volume 3 lmao also about what you said about Emerald and Aladdin- no you're exactly right Aladdin is Emerald's allusion lol strap in for v8 bc it does not slow down. crwby gave us this info prior to the start of the volume and it's implied by Weiss' "we're never going to sleep again" comment but the events of the whole volume take place over the course of about 48 hours

Tammy Ragsdale

Welcome to Volume 8; the 48 hour (or so) rollercoaster. Going to be a wild couple of days for the kids. Love the opening for this volume. On Winter's new look...she's got a new uniform, partially, because of her injuries. Some of that is support. She was really injured. Notice also, she's slumping a little, very unlike Winter, but she's still trying to be tough. I love how complex she is. Also, yes, ponytail. I like how the split is framed both as a fight, and not as a fight. It does effectively split up the ships, but it's more of a disagreement on what to do next. They can't think of one way to help everyone, so they split up. It does lend itself to some interesting dynamics and character interactions, though. I like how, already, you can see that they are still thinking of the other group. We get that shot of Blake and Nora for a reason. Blake has to bring up to Ruby how they are still reunited. Yang's first thought on seeing the hoverbikes is that the other's are missing out. We also get to see that these aren't the normal dynamics. Everyone is just so slightly off. Nora pushes the launch button early, sending Weiss up the tube. When Yang busts the door in the shop open everyone just stands there for a second staring into the darkness till Jaune thinks to look for a light. So, I think we can safely assume, canonically. that Blake is the only one to ride on the back of a bike Yang is driving and not have a bad time.

Kiesen

Loving your excitement for Volume 8. It's my second favorite volume of the series. Hope you like pain! ALSO HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR GIRL RUBY ROSE! - That is indeed young Cinder. They were going to use this episode to focus on her but shuffled things around in the volume, so that little scene is a leftover. Don't worry though, they're not gonna leave that thread loose. - Neo living that horrified Spongebob in a dark hallway meme. - People laud over the soundtrack (with good reason I fucking love it) but the score for the series does NOT get enough credit. Especially in these later volumes holy shit. Volume 8 in particular has some of my favorite scores. - I mean, a good chunk of Salem's followers follow that "fucked up past, easy to manipulate" trope. Everyone except Tyrion is based on heroes who's stories were twisted in some way. - No, no. The Aladdin reference is correct, because that's what Emerald is based on. - "Just because you're more valuable to me than a pawn, does not make you a player." This line is so fucking cool. This woman knows how to go for the throat but in an unnervingly calm way. - "Without you, I am nothing." - Weiss continues to be incredible comedic relief. People who say she wasn't until later just haven't been paying attention. - I mean, the episode is called "Divide." - Jason Rose has always voiced James with a rarely broken calm, but something about how he performs it in this volume is so creepy. It sounds less like someone staying composed and more like a stalking predator keeping their footsteps quiet. - The leitmotif of "Hero" has lost all its triumph and has become a full on omen at this point. - My favorite Winter outfit!!! I love her ponytail and her cunty little N7 armor. - My favorite Grimm!!! I fucking love the Hound. Special section just for For Every Life because it's my favorite intro of the entire series: - "We said goodbye, to all the things we loved" -> Reference to the first intro Time to Say Goodbye ("Now it's time to say goodbye to all the things we loved") - All the trailer references, as you saw - "Left our solitude, our carefree peace" -> Time to Say Goodbye reference again ("How the time seemed to fly from our care free lives and the solitude and peace we always knew") - Chess imagery per usual - "Some evil will never ever die" Salem reference, obviously - There's more but some are spoilers - That misdirect was used to show how Qrow feels. Robyn's rant wasn't about him, but he felt like it was. - The gang's all here! Jail is so fun. Wish Robyn and Qrow got commemorative tattoos. - RWBY is generally really good at using its implicit and explicit character and subject focuses as transitions between scenes. Somebody thinks of something or someone and the scene goes to that. I love it. - "It's time to show your teeth, Mantle" this references the graffiti we saw all the way at the beginning of V7. - The glasses aren't actually new. We see them during her outfit debut in V7. - Don't feel too hurt by the polarity aspect. RWBY in general uses a lot of magnets in their weapon and costume designs. Which, frankly, a lot more series should because they're convenient as fuck. - Yang has always been against faunus racism, because, y'know, she's a good person. But she's definitely gotten more fire since getting so close to Blake. In V1 she didn't step in while Velvet was being bullied (even though she probably wanted to), and here she's rebuffing this random woman. - I do appreciate that said random woman is overt but not in an over the top way, because most of the time people aren't frothing at the mouth with their prejudices. - I love the concept of reincarnation as a form of parasitism. It turns something cool into something horrific. It's by far one of my favorite concepts RWBY uses. - Props to Kara for casually and quickly pulling off saying "Snow Shoe Shipping is an SDC subsidiary" because wow are all those S's tongue twisters. - You can actually see The Hound a few times throughout the episode. As I said earlier, it's my favorite Grimm. - Yeah, the gang are all 19. Except Ruby, who's 17, and Oscar, who's 15.

Ann_Temki

Starting v8 on Ruby’s birthday is hilarious

Stabby_Taco

I'm so ready for this volume reactions! This volume has to be a top favorite for me. The hound being introduced and then the fact you can see it stalking them in the background is such an impressive little detail. The episodes just get better from here!

Nightowl

Probably not the *first* Planet of the Apes movie—that one came out ten years before James Franco was born. 😉

neopolitan

RWBY takes place over the course of roughly two years, and Beacon students USUALLY (save for Ruby) get accepted when they’re 17. So team JNR and WBY are all 19 by this point! Oscar is roughly 15, as he was 14 when he joined the show, and Ruby is 17 now! I think “kids” is more a relative term than anything else haha!

beans

you mentioned aladdin, im pretty sure emerald is meant to be aladdin

Potato

I find the detail in the intro of the scratched letters so ominous because the scratching is replacing the original The first words make out the old sentence we all know of happy (happily) ever after But then it got scratched out to Happy? Ever again I found it very interesting when i saw it the first time cause its a bit unusual but it gives a very dark atmosphere to it

Eric Smith

Neptune seemed to mostly enjoy himself, even if he had to recompose a bit

LikeCat

A.k.a. one of the MANY early warning signs of this Volume (and whats to come) being MUCH darker (pun not intended, IYKYK) than previous ones.

Potato

Excactly but for rwby it was out of the blue to get hints to go that low and its magical experiencing it again XD

Potato

QUE THE BEST VOLUME OF THE SERIES 🎉🎉🎉

Eric Smith

Blake MIGHT be 20, depending on exactly which month v8 takes place in, due to getting assigned a January birthday when they started doing that. Speaking of, happy birthday Ruby Rose!

Eric Smith

Blake MIGHT be 20 here, because they gave her a January birthday.

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

I have no idea what Councilman Sleet's given name is, if he ever got one, but it really ought to be Marvin. :-P

Matthew bauer

its def my number two or three since I love 6 and 8 equally but number 9 is def still my fav.

Potato

I love volume 9 its great but when it comes to the story of remnant as a whole and like the drama i think 8 has a special place for me :]

Phoenix Rising

I’m so happy you made it to this Volume! The Hound is most definitely my favorite Grimm in the show and I can’t wait for you to see more of it!

Ian Moscrop

The Hound is such a good reveal. I think volume 8 is one of my least favorite volumes overall, but it has some damn good moments. So many smaller scenes that reminds me why I love these characters in the first place. I hope Elijah catches Blake spinning in circles on the office chair next week. I love those tiny moments of comedy in volume 8.

Ian Moscrop

All I'll say about the intro song is pay attention to the end. "Sometimes it's worth it all to risk the fall"

Bryan Forquer

These first two episodes are just a taste of what's to come for this volume! The hound was definitely a great reveal, I really like how they did that. I didn't like how Ruby and Nora were kinda treating Yang and Ren like they were wrong just because they didn't agree with them. It wasn't about one side being right and the other being wrong, they both were right. I'm glad that Yang disagreed with Ruby because it shows that she still has her own thoughts and opinions. Up until now, it feels like most of the characters were written to always agree with Ruby no matter what. Also keep in mind that volume 8 premiered during the pandemic, so almost every episode was made while all the employees at Rooster Teeth were working from home. Wich I feel is even more impressive. I was definitely sad about Blake and Yang splitting up as well.

SportySpice

“Oh boy. In a story arc about the perils of blindly trusting authority, I wonder how they will handle objections about the next best course of action.” *The teams have a mild disagreement and demonstrate both sides have value, and then resolve it peacefully with compromise.* Neat! (Ignore any online discourse)

neopolitan

Oh true I forgot her birthday was in Jan! So that's totally possible!

CB Jones

Oscar is actually the only boy Yang allows to hold her waist while riding, Neptune and the bandit are both relegated to the back bar while Weiss and Blake hold on to Yang.

Azure R.

I'm gonna be honest, it's been a while since I watched volume 8. So, I forgot about the thing Ironwood did to the council member. And l reacted the exact same way as Elijah. Also, if I were to witness the same thing, I'd be freaking out. And I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to stand up to him after that, out of fear he'd do the same to me.

Wil DeYoung

Man, Weiss got fucking folded. Still one of my favorite gags in the series. Our little Weiss has easily become my favorite character over the years... well favorite living character. RIP Pyrrha.

Enchanted_Echo

I could have swore that Jaune was about a year or two older than everyone and him being 20 now

Enchanted_Echo

First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO RUBY ROSE…..make sure to give her candy because it’s her birthday and give her a special Halloween costume too! Officially welcome to my favorite volume VOLUME 8 you’re going to be learning a bit more of our colorful crew and some people in the background too just like May, it’s time to dive into the horror and divide and concur of this fun exposition in 2 days (rwby time) we hope you enjoy and remember to pay attention to what people are saying because some cases might have you on edge….and Happy Halloween everyone!

EmberPanther

Meet The Hound! Widely agreed to be the scariest Grim in the entire show, this Grim is not only strong and clever, but also capable of speech and mutation! As for character ages, the last confirmed statement of age was when CRWBY said that between Volume 3 and the Volume 4 short Ruby turned 16, and since we know the others are about 2 years older, they would have been around 18 at that point. It is likely that at least one of the squad has had a birthday since the beginning of Volume 4, so more that likely at least one or two are 19 at this point. Also, at the end of Volume 6 Ruby said Oscar’s age, but I am struggling to remember if she said 14 or 15.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

I don't understand your shock when Ironwood murdered the councilman. He did the same thing to Oscar just a few hours before.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

And now we start my favorite Volume! So I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the one to stick her head out of the airship and greet Oscar was Ruby... *RoseGarden intensifies* The Hound is by far my favorite Grimm in the entire show, and I can't wait to see your reaction to more of it. It's absolutely terrifying.

Addy

"Oscar made a successful crash landing! He's a 14 year old farm hand!"

Konrad Dunbar

if you go back and look you can see the Hound appearing in the background hunting Oscar

Ray Knight

no spoilers, but keep in mind that the ENTIRETY of volume 8 happens in just over 24 hours or so. it's literally about a day in-universe time.

Arius

I will forever stand on the hill that Neo vs Tyrian would be the best non magic fight since they are the most skilled hand to hand without having magic, I really hope we get that. Third place goes to Qrow in my opinion. Neo is also a top 3 character for me, small but mighty. (And very beautiful at the same time). I only want good things for her, she deserves happiness.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Personally I'd say either Hazel or Glynda are the strongest non-magic fighters, but Tyrian and Neo are definitely up there.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

While my favorite opening SONG is The Triumph from V5, V8 has by far the best intro sequence. Mostly because it leads into the best Volume.

Costia Rose

I LOVE WINTER - SHE LOOKS SO GOOD!!!! JUST PERFECTION!!! Also :P congrats you have met The Hound... nightmare fuel..

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Rewatching the Red Trailer in celebration

man-of-bvz1n3ss

It's still pretty shocking to see. At no point did she say it didn't make sense.

Cinder's Apologist

MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!! WELCOME TO VOLUME 8!! (aka the Cinder Volume) this one was such a treat to watch as it came out. buckle up, you are in for one hell of a ride! so valid to talk about Neo like that. she really grew on me with the later volumes once she got a role that was beyond mere cameos during Beacon arc. I'd say more about the whole thing with Cinder and Salem but can't cuz major spoilers lol as you noticed, volume 8 picks up right where volume 7 ended. so for reference, this volume lasts over the span of about three days, unlike other volumes that span weeks or even months. just good to know as you watch them deal with All The Things. if memory serves me right, Ironwood shooting the councilman was done in part to remind the audience that he really was too far gone. unfortunately, some fans had a hard time accepting Ironwood's inevitable turn to dictatorship so... also regarding your Winter reaction: GAY GAY HOMOSEXUAL GAY. and super valid :3 ah yes, the Hound. undoubtedly the scariest Grimm in show, and just in time for Halloween! yeah, you're gonna love finding out what the deal is with that monstrosity. oh and before Halloween is over... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RUBY ROSE! yes, that is actually canon according to CRWBY - one of the little treats you'll get when you get around to watching the Chibi series ;D

Cinder's Apologist

Oscar was 14 at the end of volume 6, so likely he turns 15 during the Atlas arc. the prevailing assumption is that Ruby is 17 at this point and WBY and JNR are all 19

Cinder's Apologist

yep, further proof of that brainwashing at work given how the Ace Ops didn't do anything. or Winter for that matter, even with her critical condition. morally, it's obvious to say no and stand up to that; practically, it's a bit harder when the guy is willing to shoot on sight

Cinder's Apologist

well said. and very important to not pay attention to that discourse...

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

No , I made a good point. I never said anything about it making sense. My point was if he would murder a child why be surprised if he murdered someone else. We do know Oscar survived but he thinks he killed the boy and could care less.

Arashi

Poor Weiss. I guess that's just the price of being around Nora 'Impulse Control? Is it tasty?' Valkyrie. Yeah, most everyone is 18-19 except for Ruby at 17ish and Oscar who is 14-15(ish?) And here's the Hound. The last of the really creepy Grimm in the series (so far anyways) Still more waiting for you with it, so you can.. ah... 'look forward' to the next couple points about it.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

I think she was just surprised to see him pull out the gun all of a sudden. It was shocking when Tyrian killed Clover too, but it's not like nobody expected Tyrian to commit murder.

Caleb Winningham

May (the Huntress going with Ruby, Weiss, Penny, Blake, and Nora) is voiced by a trans woman by the name of Kdin Jenzen! Very cool to have her voice a character that goes with the main group like this!

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Same! There's just so much happening, it's all epic.

Kiesen

@Eric Smith That's true! They're so vague with the exact time, but considering this seems to be the dead of winter in an already cold place, it's not unlikely. She's at the least close to being 20.

Luminaxtea

"You could just say no." -Yang to Ursai Grimm, Volume 1 Chapter 6.

FanofFantasy

Here we go people, Volume 8! All aboard the pain train, next stop the abyss!! SHIT’S GONNA GET DARK!!!

Riley

Are you going to skip a week or two for Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Riley

Pretty sure it took place in like 3 days. Not 24 hours, that wouldn't make sense and would be a little ridiculous.

Artemis Delphinia

Yang going against Ruby's leadership for the first time was impactful, especially her implying that her decisions to try to help haven't worked, which isn't her fault T.T. I kind of wish they touched on it a little more than Ruby's hurt look and Weiss', Noras', and Oscars' shocked looks though.

defy4bees

Happens over the course of 2 days correct! You can actually see the sunset/sunrise if you pay attention to it

Solus

Elijah, if you get the chance, I highly recommend reading the Team CFVY books from RWBY it follows Coco, Fox, Velvet, and Yatsuhashi's journey after the events of Beacon's fall and there are no spoilers to the show, so you do not have to worry about that, and it takes place at the same time as RWBY Vol 6, it's a great read and gives you an interesting insight into their team dynamic, haven't read the second book yet Before the Dawn, but I hear it's just as good.

xXxMidnightxXx 19

Oh the Hound one of my favourite Grimm but side note the amount of times I’ve seen people complain that the team did nothing to stop from taking Oscar really need to think. This thing came out of nowhere attacked Oscar broke his aura before the other could react not only that but when from quadrant to bipedal right in front of there’s eye than used him as a shield than spoke which mind you not a single grim we have seen has ever spoke. So yea this thing is nightmare fuel and of course it’s Salems pet so that’s fun and terrifying

LikeCat

Whenever I see „pet" in any context (ESPECIALLY like these) all I can hear is Nolan saying „I do like you mother... But as a pet"... Invincible has done things to me.

Alexis Cardillo

Welcome to vol 8 where everything takes places in a matter of weeks days! (The writers released that info before the volume premiered so not a spoiler) Yang I still don’t appreciate you basically saying that everything that happened up this point was Ruby’s fault! Elijah if you rewatch scenes with Yang’s group out of the bikes you can acutal see the Hound was stalking them the entire time, just waiting for the right chance to strike

HERES THE BEST GRIMM IN THE SHOW Meet The Hound, a pretty clear reference to the Big Bad Wolf

The title "Divide" refers to the divide forming between Ruby's group and Yang's group, while "Refuge" is a reference to the people of Mantle taking shelter from the cold in the Crater. Yang's group has been nicknamed both Team JOYRide and Team ORJY. I predict you will like one and Mosco will like the other.

nooooo, winter can't do anything because she's stuck in bed - she's injured and she can't even make a fist 😭😭😭

Ironwood's Semblance is called Mettle. It strengthens his resolve and drives him towards a goal and nothing, absolutely NOTHING will change his mind. If something gets in the way of his goal, he will remove that obstacle at any cost. It's like if obsessiveness and stubbornness was a superpower.

RWBY volume 8 is just a Boys' sleepover vs Girls' sleepover XD
