WOOOO! If I remember correctly, this is where the live campaign actually started, because I watched the first couple episodes years back and I remember the people turning into lizard creatures.

Cora Bedwell

yeah this is basically just ep1 of the campaign with a few things moved around

Angelus Lupus

Loving the reactions! Just wanted to say it's nice to have the subtitles available - I don't know if they're auto or manual, but between my duff ear and today being a *really* bad tinnitus day they were appreciated!

L Frances

Okay, I wanna give this heads up as early as possible & then comment with further thoughts later: You NEED to find a version to watch with the subtitles for Caleb's Zemnian (German) in it. It is used A LOT in this show, to the point you cannot really understand what's going on with his character without it.

LikeCat

1. Meet our literal and figurative peacock - Mollymauk „Molly" Tealeaf 2. I don't know why subtitles aren't on for Caleb's Zemnian, but they should be automatically on (for those parts) on Amazon

LikeCat

On Amazon those parts are automatically translated with English subtitles (without the usual subtitles being on)... I do not know WHERE she watches it, but yeah... Especially since it isn't just „flavor text"

Dragon0921

10:10 - "Courage" is one of the four main beverages, or "Spirits" of Percy's hometown Whitestone, including Dire Heart, Green Tear and Snow Mead. Courage is also the drink Percy brought to Vex'ahlia before they got busy in S3E3. 😈 33:32 - There's supposed to be subtitles that show what he's saying. He says "You're still just a scared child. Worthless." 34:51 - "Mother's Love" is one of many plays Sam and Liam ACTUALLY came up with for the campaign as Nott and Caleb for schemes and get out quick scenarios. Others mentioned are "The Money Pot", "Rat Food", "Prince and the Pauper", "Spider Eyes" and "Modern Literature". I hope we see more of these actually played out in the show! 39:29 - Actually all Laura had to do was voice Kid Trunks in Dragon Ball Z for Travis to notice. 😂 40:06 - TO BE FAIR...it was less about Fjord's lack of strength and more lack of accuracy cause he missed the mark by a mile. But there is a running joke about Fjord being relatively weak for a half-orc. 40: 54 - By contrast, Jester is surprisingly strong! I think she was the 2nd strongest (with a strength of 16) in the group next to Yasha! 41:00 - I'm SHOCKED you totally missed all the Vox Machina plushes! Two Trinket teddy bears, a Grog doll on the top left corner, a Pike hand puppet next to the big trinket doll, and a very Squidward looking Percy in the bottom right corner! 41:58 - Fjord is a Half-orc, who for some reason doesn't have tusks. 55:16 - Funny enough, a major change from the campaign is that they weren't responsible for what happened at all. They were all together at this point and were part of the audience when everything went to shit. This show is going to have a lot more deviations from the campaign than the Legend of Vox Machina. 57:05 - small change from the campaign, instead of transforming into lizard monsters, certain members of the audience suddenly transformed into zombies "randomly" 1:01:15 - Another major change from the campaign, Gustav actually survived the disaster but is put in jail, being blamed for what happened.

LikeCat

Also (spoilers for the Campaign): When we (likely) will get the other side of his backstory - Astrid and Eadwulf... Liam has said in an interview that they were so lucky to have found a German speaking VA for someone (most likely Astrid), so it is an aducated quess on what that means for Caleb.

C

Elijah said free the nip! Jk. Love the reactions and how much you like the show.

L Frances

14:00 - So it IS just alcoholism, not some fantasy equivalent. But there are definitely reasons she's resorting to such heavy drinking. 31:00 - Haha, I will say, there's one clear tell that this is NOT a mirror showing their future. It's a cute thought, tho. 40:00 - Hahaha, yeah, Fjord has a SHOCKINGLY low strength. You wouldn't know it from looking at him, but he's not really a beefy warrior. Those muscles really DO be just for show. 42:00 - Also, Fjord is a half-orc, and those guys were probably also orcs or half-orcs.

LikeCat

Second point: Im guessing... (Spoilers)... ... Sprinkle?

BrightHeart

The reason Fjord doesn't have tusks is because he's a half-orc not a full orc.

LikeCat

Not exactly... But the „real" reason is (hopefully) gonna be explored/ explained later on

L Frances

Haha, not quite. (slight spoilers, if you're in the know) I'll just say, Fjord's not living up to the title of everyone's favorite in-world romance novel.

FightingJoe

Anyone notice the vox machina plushies next to pirate hat?

Suplee215

The reason Fjord asked about the dream stuff and demands is because of how the last episode ended with his dream of what happened to him.

CrowOfAFeather

Fjord is a half-orc, hence the "tuskless" comment by the two orcs :) Nice reaction, can't wait to see how you'll react to ep 4!

Suplee215

"Cis woman" is the correct term. "Cis" being an adjective to describe one's relation of their gender and the sex they were assigned at birth the way "trans" is in the term "trans woman"

StorytellerDave

Gotta say, as a massive fan of C2, this show is everything I could have asked for and more.

Lil Ferret

Omg yeah the thing with the nipple I've always found so dumb and confusing, I assumed it was just because I'm ace, but still like why can you show a whole naked body, boobs included, but suddenly a nipple throws everything off?? What? What exactly is the threshold here? Like if you're going to show a nude body you might as well show it as it is? or else just don't show it? What's the purpose of showing the body then?? I don't get it. Anyway I really love the character dynamics in this show, they all feel so natural and unique between each duo. It creates a really interesting mix of interactions and shows good character building. The same was true for Vox, it's probably because it's based off of real and genuine human interactions in the campaign, but it's still so nice. And yeah Molly's great, I love him sm :)

LikeCat

I had not looked THAT closely at that mirror... Yes, that IS true.

David Johnson

You missed all the Vox Machina characters in with the pirate hat.

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

I know that Gustav's first line "Molly, it's coming" refers to the arrival of the caravan with the devil toad act, but my brain hears it as the VA introducing himself: "It's Cumming!" :-D

LikeCat

Now that I see that, I cannot unhear that... Brilliant.

K0ppar

According to the subtitles on Prime, Caleb said "You're still just a frightened child. Worthless" (might not be exact, I don't have the episode up atm)

K

I think the woman who has that genetically given alteration to her vocal tract that you’re talking about is Diana Ankudinova - yes, her performance of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” is astounding.

Aineyn

I wanna say, 'cause I don't think you picked up on it, but the reason Fjord was probing Jester about the Traveler is because of his own situation. It might be hard to remember, if one got a bad memory, but he had the dream of the giant monter's eye, all the commands ("grow", "become", stuff like that), and you can notice all his questions are phrased to represent his own experience with that. EDIT: Well, something else I wanna bring up: There were people watching the carts. That's why Nott was up there, giving directions to Caleb whenever a guard was close, etc.. Just saying! :p

BlueEyedRaven

Critters probably laughed heartily at Nott saying, "You can reply to this message" while using the reed to talk to Caleb. It was a running joke in the campaign.

Amanda

I am so sorry to ask, but are we ever going to get the Sinners reaction?

Azure R.

As someone who identifies as non-binary hearing "and those who done align with either" made me feel so happy! Like when I first watched the episode I actually teared up a little when I heard it! I also absolutely love how much queer representation is in the show so far and really wish more shows would.

Clockworkjohnny

"how do you have all those muscles and barely get it up?" - Not-so-average-fangirl, 2025

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

Centuries ago, nipples were fine but legs could not be shown. Centuries from now it'll be some other body part. Fetishizing women's bodies to the point of forcing them to cover up some random part is just plain weird.

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

interestingly enough, Yasha WAS at the carnival in the campaign — she worked security there. The show, however, seems to be coming at her character in a new way.

Dana L Powers-Green

Jester is canonically stronger than Fjord. . . and all of the rest of the Mighty Nein other than Yasha. Fjord’s muscle armor breastplate is doing important work for him. Jester is Str 16 and Fjord is Str 13. To be fair to Fjord though I believe he rolled a nat 1 on that hit though.

Mollymauk Tealeaf: He is a god, long may he reign

Dana L Powers-Green

Owelia’s voice actress Bennett Abara was born in Germany so I think she is our fluent Volstruker. Astrid’s voice actress is Ukrainian. She might also be fluent given Europes polylingual focus but not sure.

Angelus Lupus

Just now realised that Molly reminds me of Nightcrawler from X-Men. Interesting, given Alan Cumming is in this episode!

Dana L Powers-Green

“Are you a warlock with a watery Parton? Do you have a hard time becoming rigid? Do your erections keep misty stepping away? Get Serpentguard and keep your tent up”. Mollymock Tealeaf probably

Brett

I'm having my doubt.

Nightowl

It’s heartwarming to see how Jester jumps into action when she sees that Fjord can’t get it up.

Chet Bliese

I am guessing that was a recreation of THREE nat 1s in a row.

StorytellerDave

Fjord missed the thing he had to hit, he's not actually THAT weak, he just had bad luck.

genuineproxy19

The girl you're talking about with the vocal techniques is Diana Ankudinova. Her range is exceptionally low for a female voice, and she is able to overtone sing.

zachariah Mustchin

Mollymauk is a Blood Hunter, Matt and his voice actor actually created the class for this character.

Wil DeYoung

The mirror made Fjord go from badass to baddie.

SauceyRed

They're auto-generated by Vimeo, but from what little I've seen, they seem better than YouTube's.

StorytellerDave

Technically he made it before campaign 2 because he was inspired by the Witcher.

Angelus Lupus

I agree, youtube's are rubbish, often wrong and appearing one word at a time! Vimeo's (and the in-built patreon player as it happens) are way better.

Ryan

So, uh, who bought that shirt? You or Mosco? I'm surprised they didn't get Alan Tudyk to voice the person in the bear costume, given his famous, defeated "I went to Juliard..." quote at the end of the vignette about him "voicing" Hei Hei (the chicken) in Moana, especially since they got Auliʻi Cravalho to voice Toya. ... And that, lesbians and gentlequeers, is what happens when everyone rolls a 1.

Amanda

Such a shame, I’ve been waiting since the poll

Solus

I know I have said this before, but I highly recommend watching the actual Vox Machina or Mighty Nein campaigns, there is so much there that wasn't put into the show for Vox Machina and I'm pretty sure they are gonna do the same for The Mighty Nein, I understand they have a budget they can only animate so much, they also have their campaigns on podcast and Matt does a phenomenal job of describing what's going on and it makes you imagine you are there watching them play.

Brett

Me too.

Haikouichthys

"And they're gonna look guilty." To be fair, three of them are guilty.
