Fun Fact! The creator of Heated Rivalry did say that it started out as a fanfic, but didn't specify what ship the fanfic was about. BUT! the people think it was a Stucky fanfic! :)

Icebelle

The message ”we didn’t even kiss” almost made me cry😭🥺 I also feel bad for Ilya but he’s just so distant to poor Shayne🥺💔😭

Again i love how much you love ilya's dry humor lol. but also yes now we get more into the heavier angsty stuff. pleeease binge the last 4 eps lmao i know thats not really doable but im just so excited to see what you think of the show as a whole!

Jeremy-Geo

This ep does indeed end sad... :,( HOWEVER i'm so excited for you to react to the next ep, something tells me you'll really enjoy it!

NamelessSoul

This is a sad one, that ending is a real gut punch. Excited for the next!

Angela

I'm probably demi so idk if that makes a difference in my views on the sex/kissing stuff, but I agree with you. Without kissing, sexual stuff doesn't feel as intimate/connected to me.

Stucky is infact the fanfic that book #1 (Game Changer) is based on. Book #2 (Heated Rivalry) is fanfic based on two very real hockey players who had an intense rivalry. But that's all I know haha

I love how in-sync Elijah is with Ilya, especially given that Ilya is the Russian version of Elijah's name!

Isi

If you are interested on the homepage from Rachel Reid, the author of the book, there is a free Blogpost called "The Las Vegas Mix". It shows these scenes from Ilyas perspective! Its very worthy reading :)

Just 2 cents about the conversation with Shane in Russia: there were rumours that the athletes were under surveillance during the Olympics. Not saying that it was right, but Ilya being distant and not saying anything about their relationship it was probably self protection. It also could apply to Shane's safety. Russia is super not safe for LGBTQ+, especially since 2013. It breaks my heart for both of them, but most for all the queer people who live there.

Tami

I think you missed why Ilya spoke to Shane that way in Russia. Remember, right before that, we saw the conversation with Shane learning from Carter Vaughn that Russia is not safe for someone who is gay, so Ilya can't risk any type of conversation about that there. Ilya starts by saying, "Not here." But Shane doesn't take the hint, partly likely because of being on the spectrum and not picking up on social cues. But each time Shane doesn't get the message, Ilya has to get more harsh to try to get him to stop talking and leave. It always bums me out when people think Ilya is just being rude, because that context is so important. Also, people get mad at Ilya for ghosting Shane, but we saw in the earlier montage that Shane ghosted Ilya LOTS of times, and no one ever gets upset at Shane for that. BTW, Svetlana called the Minister "Daddy". He's not a creeper, he's her father. ☺️ Enjoying your reactions, though!

Tami

Both interactions in Vegas were right before Ilya has to go back to Russia, and Shane can't understand why that is so difficult for Ilya. It makes Ilya dissociate to protect his heart. Some reactors think Ilya is using Shane, but he's down bad for Shane just as much if not more as Shane is for Ilya.

i agree with you 100%. Inner feelings, distractions, reasoning, and the way those things push you to act are completely valid, but it doesn't excuse the real hurt it can do to others
