"He just said 'Nice catch' in frog." How do you know that? Isn't talking to animals Fluttershy's talent?

This one was quite controversial when it aired, since the final moral manages to be worded in a way that, combined with Twilight perhaps inadvertently being written as a strawman of a bad scientist, it comes off like the episode is saying "atheists are all idiots and you should just admit God exists." The patterns involving Pinkie Sense clearly repeat enough to make it scientifically plausible that it exists within the show's world, but all Twilight cares about is that it doesn't fit her narrow worldview (ironically something that tends to apply to hardcore religious people quite a bit more than scientists). For what it's worth, the writer MA Larson is an atheist who says he believes everything is logically explainable, so apparently none of this was deliberate.

Lauren Faust has stated that all ponies carry some inherent magic in them and it manifests itself in different ways depending on their talents and what race they are. Unicorns have aetherial magic that manifests in different spells and Pegasi can control the weather or walk on clouds and other light material like butterflies. Earth Ponies are told to have more physical magic and/or an inherent connection to the earth, which is the case with Pinkie. Pinkie Sense can be summed up as a warning system. We can assume that due to her connection to the earth, she receives (through lack of a better word) premonitions for when a particular event is about to happen. To summarize, Pinkie's Earth Pony magic manifests as a form of short-term precognition.

I am still on Twilight’s side here. So many times, things that seem to be connected really are just coincidence. ”Correlation isn’t causation”, and all that. :p

Pecher

Like the old saying goes : It's Pinkie Pie don't question it.

Gummy is already my favorite of all the pets. His face is so derpy and head-empty, and I love it

Shipping Fuel & Crumbs this Episode! Twipie: This entire episode was dedicated to Twilight understanding her girlfriend better, frfr Twidash: 24:08 Twilight thinking about Rainbow Dash as probably the bravest pony she knows Feel free to reply with any scenes I missed that fueled your favorite ships!

Sonicblue21

YES YES YES, you made it to this episode!

Phoenix_mercury

As one of my fave games says, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern 🤷

Ths episode was actually a fleshed out version of the original Pitch Pilot that Lauren Faust made to sell her concept for the show to Hasbro, it featured Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie, all voiced by Tara Strong, who would go on to voice Twilight Sparkle in the full show. (Also, at 10:11 in, of this reaction, Twilight is literally climbing onto a soap box. Lol)

While this is Pinkie's episode in name it's really known for Derpy's first major appearance in all her lovable klutzy wall eyed glory.

Since this is a land of myth and magic and all ponies have some inherit magic within them my head cannon for this is that Pinkie has somehow attuned herself to their worlds equivalent of the Akashic Records. However mortal minds are not meant to comprehend the knowledge of the records and so she gets predictive body spasms instead of straight knowledge. Throughout the show she has access to knowledge that's either so obscure no one else has it or she can't logically have, locates items people can't find or just does random things that work out. I am happy with my head cannon reason for it. I know the myth of the records is they hold all the knowledge of all past events thought and feelings. However the implication has always been that if you understood everything in them you could deterministiclly predict the future.

"Sparkle Pie? No wait... TWI-PIE!!!! 😻😻😻😻😻😍😍" i love twipie

og.monstr

O the existential angst of being a skeptic and a naturalist in a world of unicorns, dragons, and magical fucking sparkles. 😆

Moonas

Not really, In S8 final when magic goes back to ponys we can see that Twilight, Rarity, and Pinkie got their magic back. Flutter, Rainbow and Apple didn't get any.

Neetaku

Your wearing a Spider Gwen T-Shirt and the episode was about a certain some-pony's Pinky Sense, that was a doozy of a coincidence.

Animegirl

It kind of feels like a religion kind of episode, where just because you can't see it does not mean it doesn't exist.

Angelle

Pinkie pie is considered the "Princess of Chaos" because she has chaotic magic that Earth ponies don't

Faroth

Elijah: "i will wear a pinkie pie sweater because pinkie pie episode... And underneath the spidergween tshirt..." Interesting choice for the pinkie-sense tingling episode...

Faroth

Spike being used as a needle pinner is ok, but he is afraid of bees??? 🤔🤔🤔

Holly Chaisson

I can't get the Vimeo link to work. It keeps saying, Sorry, we couldn’t find that page.

Budon

Am I the only one who can’t watch these types of videos?

Atlas

Nope it's me too

Atlas

Glad I'm not the only one having this issue, based on the comments it seems like this might be a more recent issue or maybe it's based on where you are

Joe

Vimeo cancelled her account and now all videos on channel are being uploaded to Patreon which is a long process

Holly Chaisson

Interesting, I've never had a problem with Vimeo before. Maybe it's because I'm in Canada and they changed something.

Atlas

I found out after this, her Vimeo account got suspended and so she is moving content onto Patreon instead, in the posts there is a pinned messenge of the progress with each series
