Otaku Twenty-Four Seven

I'm going to watch after I see your GFs reaction but I hope you enjoyed it

karabita-senpai

I just realized while watching the part where Pomni is in the "breakroom" with the other Jaxs' that the three that are at the table all represent what he told Pomni back in episode 6 while he was explaining that everyone falls into an archetype. "I see how far I can push things (the normal looking Jax), I screw with people (Maid Jax), and I break the fourth wall (Goofy Jax)" They're all his masks and he is preemptively planning how he should react if one of the others abstract so he can be prepared and not drop the mask he has so carefully crafted. As for the chained and boarded door, I think that's the door that leads to if Pomni abstracted and Jax possibly has it under such careful lock and key because he knows he couldn't keep the mask up if she was the one to abstract

Ashley Silver

RIP Jax TADC you would have loved Lebanne from Pokémon

andystructable

I like to think that Pomni waving goodbye at the end was her way of honouring Jax by breaking the fourth wall

The general consensus is that C&A is abandoned, and all the brain scans after Kinger's group were by chance. Suzie is a realtor, maybe there to assess the property. Abigail and Riley are urban explorers, and Leeroy was homeless. So chances are they just wandered in, tried on the headset, and took it off when "nothing happened." Also, based on THAT scene in the credits, I think we know what Zooble was requesting that got Caine all flustered...

Jadyn P

The amount of things I only put together after watching your external processing 😂 For example: Caine as the red AI being the pre-circus version with fully animated Caine overlapping as "present day" and using the same strategy to go and connect to wifi and continue learning. Other thoughts/favorite moments: the embrace/five minute longing glance 😂 I have no issue with the ship, first and foremost. I do however like the idea of it being representative of intimate female friendship that doesn't have to be romantic, OR a queer platonic relationship. I love how they respected the complexity of Gangle's feelings around it all! Elijah: "Jax needs professional help." Me, a therapist: "Multiple professional helps. A multi-disciplinary team. For at least a couple years." - That being said, they did an INCREDIBLE job writing and portraying him. It's all very realistic possible responses to what traumas were alluded to during his opening up to Ribbit. There's so much more, but I'm still watching and I want to watch Mosco's tonight, too, so I shall refrain 😂

Heather Mayhew

My niece and I went and saw it together. Its her favorite show. She says she wants to be an indy animator and has even been writing her own story. It was so much fun. She wore a full jax cosplay even though it was triple digit heat where we live. She made me a Gangle mask and it was ana amazing day. Im so grateful to the creators and actors. They helped make a memory that my niece will always have.

God, vimeo is so ass

concerning the brain scans, they do hint at how it happened to each of them in previous episodes. It seems that CA went under and the office space is abandoned. Kinger obviously did a scan at the very beginning, but everyone else in that initial group abstracted and it wasn't until Ragatha came in that Cain even knew new scans could be added. Ragatha was a real estate agent, so she was probably reviewing the office space when she found the headset (guess CA just left all that stuff there and the power was still running). Jax was probably squatting in the building and both Zooble and Pomni liked exploring abandoned buildings so they all found the headset that way. Gangle is the only one we don't know about to my knowledge, but otherwise only Kinger actually worked at the company, the rest were accidents. If anyone is interested in the brain scan process and the philosophical question of if a scan can really be defined as human, I highly recommend playing SOMA. It delves into similar themes

Over four hours of footage between you and Mosco. Poor Anex... 41:43 Elijah: "My girlfriend!" (points directly at Yang) No comment. Each of the doors in Jax's headspace seems to be "what would happen if ____ abstracted" ... and I think the bolted up door is what happened after Pomni asked, "what would you do if I abstracted tomorrow?" and he disassociated _hard_ and told her "I'd move on and probably forget about you." Jax's whole confession to Ribbit ...a glimpse into the hellscape of mental health for men and boys. Even if we have good role models. And Jax didn't. And it's probably worse now than when I was a teenager - the algorithm is literally designed to prey on men feeling like they have to compress their gender expression down to a narrow, high amplitude fraction of the spectrum. It didn't click until now, but there seems to be some symmetry between Pomni (a girl, a jester) and Kaufmo (a boy, a clown) - both are performers. And Ribbit (a girl, a frog) and Jax (a boy, a bunny) both hop. He probably blames himself for their abstractions, and thinks if anyone gets close to him, they'll abstract, too. But there's also the undertone that gender roles are a fabrication. You can paint your flowers in colors other than green and red. Yes, that is *exactly* what you think it is.

Taigan

I said everything I wanted to say about the episode over on Mosco’s page. Instead I’ll just say it stresses me the &7+k out every time the 30 minute mark is coming up in your videos and I’m terrified you’ll forget and we’ll miss something? 😓

Jittercritter

Jax’s backstory explains a lot about his violent and reckless behavior towards the other members of the Circus tbh. After the trauma of accidentally killing his own mother, being placed in a world where physical harm has no lasting impact must have been a HUGE relief. As messed up as it sounds, I finally understand from a psychological perspective why that behavior is so cathartic to him—because no matter what he physically does, his actions can’t cause bodily harm anymore. The obvious inaccuracy to that mindset is the existence of abstractions (a great way to demonstrate how hurting people doesn’t always have to mean physically harming them), but he didn’t realize that until it was too late and by then he couldn’t let himself believe he had made the same mistake AGAIN, especially to the one person he had confessed that very mistake to. So he just doubled down and started doing it even more.

Unknown

The way yall want everyone’s problem to be because they’re in the closet is downright arrogant. Jax isnt trans LMAO

Jonathan Smith

Agreed. Red Dot was Caine v1 breaking into the computer and finding the brain scans. V1 Caine added algorithms to turn Mike Dobby into Scratch. Suited Caine, v2, was hacking fast wi-fi to do the research for his mea culpa. V3 Caine is where he freed Blue Dot (Abel?)

Jonathan Smith

I don't believe she died since we see him in the real world holding a job after he was scanned, but as Jax said, we may never know.

David Johnson

I think the part with Caine is showing both him escaping from his sandbox and finding the neuroscans - the parts where he's a red dot - *and* him basically finding an internet connection - the part where he's Caine. And like much of the rest of this episode, the beginning mirrors the end.

Taigan

@2:05:10. Oh! Those are Jax, Ribbit and Kaufmo, aren’t they? 🥲

og.monstr

This is probably the perfect ending to TADC. I can see why Gooseworx wanted it to resolve this way, and I'm so happy, and sad, and I wish them and Glitch all the best for giving us this wonderful series. 🥲 Oh, and yeah, Pomni and Ragatha's moment had my shipping heart break down, it was so cute.

LikeCat

This... Makes so much sense... WHY MUST IT THO

Octavia

Tldr, Im in the camp of Jax being trans or gender non conforming cause Jax's story is so similar to my own. As a trans woman myself, I see so much of myself and what I might have been in Jax. I was having a fight with a friend and she made this comment about how men act and I just blurted out that maybe I did not want to be one, presumably ina similar way Jax would have during the fight with Jax's mom. Where my story differs from Jax is my friend, unlike jax's mom, made the choice to be kind. I had only just begun learning what it means to be trans due to having extremely limited access to the internet so when I got my first computer in my senior year of high school, I found sites and stories and it opened my eyes. But I was scared and didn't know what to do. And I was like Jax in a way. My friend and I dated for two years and broke up little under a year before the conversation. I said so many hurtful things, lashing out at her because someone else needed to feel like I did...crushed and alone. But despite that, despite the fact we were in the middle of a call and fighting...she heard me say what I'd did...and she asked me what my name was. It was like a dam broke and I was suddenly talking to her late into the night about what I learned, telling her the name I had chosen, and she helped me research more. And that was the end of our fights. Our relationship evolved into something new. Not romantic, but more then just friends. She saved me that night. I was on this self destructive cycle and eveyone else around me stopped being supportive once I came out. But not her. She told me years later that when I told her, she had a moment where she thought about lashing out, to throw it back in my face. But she chose to slow down and talk. To extend the olive branch. It changed how I view everything. I always try to give people second chances, even if they don't seem.to deserve it because what if they are like I was, on the brink and lashing out in pain? I can relate to Jax more then I ever thought possible until this episode. My mom had a similar reaction to Jax's. Not cruel but she sent so many mixed signals, comparing me to my father constantly even after she remarried. And one night she came home drunk and crying begging me to go back to how I was, to use my deadname. She wanted to know what she did wrong, how she messed me up and made me feel like this. She tried to say that I was just doing it to distance myself from my father since we had the same name and looked nearly identical. It's hard to deal with stuff like that and to feel alone, to have that one last chance at sharing be cruelly thrown back at you. It looks like Leroy found what was needed to move forward though. Having even just one person who acknowledges the real you, who sees you and is willing to accept you, is so important.

ELS_Art

It's amazing how much quicker you pick up on things than Mosco. Nothing against her just an observation. 🤭

Simon Davis

I'm fine I'm fine just thinking about Kinger and his two daughters, Ragatha and Pomni.

Joey Quixote

I absolutely loved the ending! When I'd heard the theory that they were just data and could never leave, I didn't want it to be true. But that they addressed it immediately, gave us the entirety of the episode to digest it, and then showed us it wasn't all bad, I was very happy. Pomni, didn't escape, but learning that Abigail was happy out there was all the escape she needed. It's all any of them needed. Whether by coincidence of timing, or the environment of the circus that fostered those feelings, each of them entered at their lowest. And seeing their real selves surviving those lows and moving on was a needed example of "It gets better." We all have bad days, but there are reasons we can't comprehend yet that are ample reason to continue on. Even in their digital forms, learning their dream of escape was impossible, they redirected and found a reason in eachother. "Two things can be true." as they say. Jax can be a sympathetic character who survived trauma, becoming a complex and layered individual that is far more than meets the eye. But also, Jax is an asshole. I sympathize with the character for what they went through, but i still don't like them as a person. I'm glad Leeroy found friends, community, and support outside of the circus. And in a healthier place, gladly joined Riley's safe haven, instead of constantly butting heads with Zooble. One of my favorite aspects of the whole scene was that it was Jax who gave Pomni the key. He let her in. She didn't force it out of him. He gave her all of that willingly. So many heartbreaking lines over that whole sequence. I still don't like Jax, but he got me to cry more than any other character in the show. "Two things can be true." Caine's arc in this episode serving as an excellent allegory for fucking up and then doing the work to win back the trust of those you hurt. Too many people in his position would have listened to the voice, blamed the others for what happened to him. Instead he took the time to consider that he was in the wrong. And rather than give up, or try to force his way back, he made an earnest, humble offering. Caine did the work and was brought into the fold. My favorite bits from the conclusion: -Ragatha being adopted by The Gloink Queen. A great mom to replace her shitty one. -The Abstrction Aquarium. Kinger can visit Queenie. And we know those three swirling over Pomni's head were Jax, Kaufmo, and Ribbit. Looked like they were playing together. -We didn't get Ragatha and Pomni canon, per se, but there's more than enough crumbs to make a feast. However you feel until Goose puts a label on it. Maybe they're together. Maybe they're just two friends who found comfort in eachother in a horrible situation. Maybe they're QPR. All up to the viewer. -Abstragedy canon! Ya know that meme where you have two characters in bed in the aftermath, one's chill and having a smoke while the other seems bewildered by what just happened? Personal headcanon; I don't think Zooble knew what they were getting into.

Dark Danny

I'm not really bothered by the fact we didn't see the abstraction happen, we already kinda saw it when Jax freaked out in that one episode, it just got interrupted

Rupert Anderson Jr

My favorite line from this finale. "Reality is Gay!"

Matthew Dunne

I'll tell you, it was something else seeing this in a cinema with about a hundred kids in cosplay. (Them, not me.)

Willow 404

Pomni, Ragatha, and Jax were actually a toxic doomed yuri polycule, trust

Dark Danny

i don't think Jax's was trans(could be), i think he was just feminine and maybe when he brought that up to his mom during a fight, she made him feel bad about even telling her, which would explain why he doesn't like opening up to people cause he believes that they will hold it over him somehow like his mother did

SauceyRed

When I watched this in theaters, it was too much to process for the first time with no way to pause or go back, so I did not realize that Caine going through the void and getting to the brain scans was just after he was quarantined/"deleted" by the developers and broke free and absorbed the blue AI. To be fair, I'm not sure I would've gotten it without you (or someone else) saying it since the scenes were blended together in a way that it felt like it was all the same scene. When I was watching the scene in the theater, I thought he was trying to bring back abstracted people, that Scratch appearing on the stage was Caine bringing him back. Obviously I figured that wasn't the case, but it did leave me confused about it. So thank you for that lmao Regarding Jax's abstraction, my headcanon is that they're still able to "visit" him in his abstracted form, like Pomni did. I know the flashbang thing with him saying "I don't wanna go" just before probably implies that he's properly corrupted, but it's not explicitly confirmed so my headcanon stands. As for trans Jax, I do see all the hints and signs that it is what's happening, and I do believe that's probably it, but I think there's room for other points of view. Also I think it's fine for people to use he/him, she/her, or they/them to refer to him, since we don't really get an explicit preference in the show. Man, I teared up like 3 or 4 times when I watched it the first time. During Kinger and Pomni's conversation at the start, during her conversation with Jax in his abstraction, and I think also during one of the Jax and Ribbit scenes, and obviously at the end just before the Pomni fourth wall break. What a show. I'm so fucking glad it exists and that it got so huge that the finale got into movie theaters (and not just a few, it was even where I live in fucking Norway), like Markiplier's Iron Lung. The future of indie shows has never been brighter. But man, endings are never easy... Letting go of characters you've come to love over a long time is never easy... I'll miss this show and watching my favorite reactors react to it. I'm sure there will be new reactors in the future that somehow missed this and will get to react to it, but for now, it's over.

Taigan

@1:32:52 It’s a debatable point, but when Ragatha says “I hope it’s enough to keep him contained” and Kinger replies “he should be calm in there” it sure looks to me like Pomni winces each time they use he/him pronouns for Jax. Now, she is glitching and it may just be that but the timing seems very intentional.

og.monstr

The fact that Gooseworx has essentially confirmed outright that Jax is transfem on her Bluesky is simply beautiful. 🩵🩷🤍

8-Beat

So not only do we get Jesterdoll and Abstragedy, we also get some Moslijah? Heck yeah!! ^♡^

8-Beat

I really had to leave another comment because after the bit I just watched it didn't feel right to just talk about shipping lmao "^-^ Your speech part around the middle, in Jax's flashback, was SO inspiring, and I wanna quote the shit outta that. Thank you so much, for always being so awesome despite everything!!! :D

RenWillsen

I am so so glad that you and Mosco will get the pleasure of experiencing this in theatres!

Patneu

Interesting that she actually noticed that they killed the fish, but Mosco who was so grossed out by it didn't.

Animegirl

I took it as Jax was gay or maybe bi, not trans.

Mari Diaz

I loved this moment when yall first talked about buttomblossum. Elijah: I WILL TAKE THE CRUMBS | Mosco: *stares at the camera knowingly*. Lmao. Yall are great

Zora Brightwood

I assume that, nonetheless, the trans jax theory was correct, considering the definition of transgender is someone who does not identify with the gender they were born with, so that would include those who are ENBY, Genderfluid, Agender, and Demi Girl/Boy/Masc/Femme. It's above all an umbrella term.

Zora Brightwood

My assumption once I processed the finale was that it's possible that a mjority of the current avatars could have given their brain scans to C&A voluntarily, for a quick cash grab, specifically Jax, and Zooble's IRL counterparts situations made me think so. I did see someone else's idea for it, and it honestly makes more sense than mine.

Charli

That's what I've been saying!

Vegvisir92

Sorry but i just can't be sad at Jax's abstraction....Jax was nothing but a horrible c.nt throughout the whole series, i just have no sympathy for a person who did basically nothing but bully and torture everyone else Again...sorry...but frankly......its better for everyone else that Jax abstracted, they're all safer without Jax

Saiyasha

I mean, Jax messing up before is kind of his point. He messed up and everyone got on his case, so he doesn't understand why people aren't mad at Kinger. Of ocurse, from teb outside, it's easy to understand that people ten dot give a lot more grace when someone has proven themselves to be genuine and trying their best before, while Jax' behaviour had already primed them to blame him or lash out, plus, as you said, with Kinger it was a genuine mistake, while Jax more or less deliberatly pressed that button. But you can see his cycle. He _expects_ people to be on his case when he messes up, so he reacts like they will from the beginning, because if they hate him anyway, it doesn't really matter, right? But that is what leads people to be more critical with him, reinforcing his percpetion.

Saiyasha

"Why can't I cry for him" hits very hard. I think many people can relate when family members whom you had a complicated relationship with die. You _feel_ something, you aren't _happy_ that they are dead - but sometimes there is relief mixed in with the sadness and that makes us feel guilty because that's not what you should feel, right? But in cases like this it's pretty natural. Everyone grieves different and if the relationship was a difficult one, that grief can also include the fact that you feel some relief that a point of friction will not exist anymore.

Natasha

I think the song "Isn´t she lovely" was reffered to how Jax truly saw Pomni and not a hint that Jax is secretly trans. At leats thats how I interpretet it, because we saw Pomni in all those scenes with Jax and not just Jax alone

Bailey

I really love how Jax is a great example of what repression can do to someone. It's not healthy, and it hurts both you and the people around you. Despite everything I do feel a lot of sympathy for Jax. She was a hurt person who wasn't able to let herself open up and be loved and it cost her in the end. But I do like to think there's still hope for the abstracted. Caine's VA mentioned that he likes to see abstraction as more of an intense spiral rather than s******, and compared the new version of the cellar to a visiting room where people can see loved ones in a psychiatric hospital. Of course I'm sure it'd be very difficult to undo, and would require the person inside to work on things as well, but with the other characters around to provide emotional support I like to think it'll be possible someday. Though probably with some permanent effects after? Like maybe part of them will still have the abstraction designs, and they'll need to keep in mind to not let themselves spiral again. I have lots of other thoughts on this finale, but this comment is already too long I'm sorry this keeps happening akdksakdksk. But I loved it and have so many thoughts on all the characters. I love them all and am so proud of them for adjusting and making the best of this place Edit: Okay one more thing, the way Leeroy has managed to change for the better and get her life in order is another thing showing me Jax has it in her. Again, it won't be easy, but if restoring abstraction is possible, it'll take a lot of work. But I'm glad they ended it without that. It gives us hope for the future, but the characters abstracting still has narrative weight.

Bailey

I legit sobbed during this reaction omg you can't do this to me, man... I knew I'd cry again watching your reaction, but for some reason experiencing emotional moments alongside someone else makes them hit harder for me

Bailey

yeah it's a tragically relatable spiral.

Taigan

I think you’ve got a big piece figured out, but not all the way. Who abstracted behind each door is, I think, not particularly relevant. Each Jax represents a side of Jax’s personality: violence, rudeness, and humor. The one chained to the piano was probably kindness. So it’s not that the sealed door is where Pomni abstracted, rather that’s an aspect of Jax that he has sealed away so deeply that he’s barely aware of it. Most significantly, all of the other doors have images of which Jax they represent painted on them. But you can see the sealed door has had its picture scratched off. So Jax doesn’t even want to look at that side of himself. That door conceals Jax’s femininity, queerness, whatever you want to call it.
