Zi: "the world isn't as black and white, little one" sums up this show 😅

Dreanner95

The old Avatar shows were made during a time where it was normal for POC characters being voiced by white VAs. Now the new shows decided to let POC voice characters of their own ethnicity. That is why Korra has a new VA.

Taigan

@17:42. Gee, I wonder why Korra kept the short hair all those years. 🤔

Phoenix_mercury

The fact there's a clear time gap between korra flying *to* RC(it's blue and peaceful) and the girls getting to RC(red/orange and on *fire*!) alone shows that shits going down

Phoenix_mercury

The fact that you're not the only reactor to make the rwby comparison is both hilarious and chefs kiss lol

Suplee215

I still thibk vaatu is involved or was involved in the catalysm even if thats obvious. Vaatu could ve what is blocking the planet's chakras somehow. My theory is he either reincarinated or somehow got free again and Korra had to fight him and he knocked the planet itself out of line. In order to trap Vaatu again Korra melded him into the avatar cycle creating 2 with raava in both of them to keep vaatu in check although ine is more one than the other

Jared Bichler

It sounds like they were continuing spirit vines research.

Jared Bichler

Is it just me, or is Republic City missing its spirit vines?

Klice

The low sound is ok, the high volume of excited reaction is killing me tho ;D thanks for the reaction, nonethless

Dark Danny

I missed Korra more than i though i did, i actually teared up when i saw her

Dark Danny

I went back to the episode after the faceless queen was revealed and she's the one that said Daemin had a perfect jawline

JENIRD

there is absolutely ZERO chance Asami had anything to do with it, her company maybe though , but Asami? nah nope zero way

FullmetalNinja25

To be fair in regards to Season 2 of Korra the first half of it wasn't done by Studio Mir they were doing Season 5 of The Boondocks at the time.

Like I mentioned in Mosco's vid, lots of lack of media literacy going online. Glad Elijah caught the "Spirit Energy" and Kuvira Weaponizing it at the end of Korra. With this episode basic media literacy confirms the following. The place that Jae met Pavi are the ruins of an "Old World" Pro Bending Arena. (which is reinforced by the promotional and commercial posters all around. The place where the anomaly is coming from is 100% a Reactor for a Spirit Energy Powerplant which was being used to power that part of the world and the city that stood before Ellora. At some point Future Industries most likely went into the Energy Production business utilizing Spirit Energy, which would've been a much more efficient form compared to Fire Bender Electricity. Utilizing this lead to a massive growth and advancement which led the world into an "imbalance". The spirit world angered by them overusing Spirit Power likely unleashed the Cataclysm or forced Korra to unleash it in order to bring balance to the world. Elijah is most definitely cooking with the "World's Chakras" are blocked.

Speaking of comparisons to RWBY, this episode's faceless section has a few parallels to RWBY vol 5's bandits. First the masks, and Yuki's possible sister(?) has a similar voice and stuff she says to what Vernal and Raven sound like/say. Especially about the world not being as black and white as they think. And though this is a stretch, I think the way Pavi 'forgives Yuki for her bandit ways' sounds exactly like the kind of delivery Ruby would have with that same line of dialogue.

one of my favorite theories i've heard so far about the memory portion of the episode is that Pavi and Nisha were influencing what they were seeing. Pavi is more interested in the truth, and was seeing an accurate representation of what had happened, but Nisha believes she already knows what happened, and isn't open to that being challenged, and influenced the memory to show her that when she interrupted Pavi's viewing of what happened.

Also in the flashback, korra wasn't wearing her bridal necklace which confused the hell out of me!

Quartz_Rock

Also, another chakra related detail, Ellora’s motto! “For the SURVIVAL of Ellora.”

jessie H

The volume is way too low, I had to crank my volume up just to hear the episode.

DeinoZed

Fun fact that you missed! Korra's Betrothal Necklace seems to have a carving of the Spirt Portal, likely cause that was their first date, first kiss, and first declaration of love!

LikeCat

I've started to rewatch ATLA (and finally properly watch LoK) because Morgan will start it in the near future and this is what Aang says in the near end of E1 "If you want to be a bender then you must let go of fear" - says the first Avatar we met. It sounds oddly fitting given your (the audience's as a whole) theory about the seven Chakras/ their respective blockages = the Seven Havens

BGTitan

So like, obviously we next to no context for any of what happened, but it's pretty clear the mystery isn't if Korra turned evil (she didn't) but what made her have to make the choices she did to most likely save what she could of the world. Lot of theories rolling around but idk. The pink energy looks like Spirit Energy, like from Kuvira's mech canon or even Vaatu's energy beams. Korra and Asami having betrothal necklaces makes me so beyond happy. Been waiting twelve years for this day dude. Also love that while it looks like Asami's has a traditional water symbol, Korra's looks like the spirit portal, like the one they walked into at the end of LOK. Let's go!!!! They're so cute!!!! I have missed my girls!!!!! God I want answers already!!!!

Suplee215

I think the purple energy is a bit of a red herring. In that I dont think Korra was fighting a man made technology based threat using them. I think she was facing a powerful spirit or maybe trying to close the spirit portal to block that spirit off. Kuriva's spirit cannon is basically this worlds version of a nuke.

Suplee215

Not entirely why. Legend of Korra recasted all returning characters as well for older roles. Even casting different actors for flashback older version and current elders versions. They certainly took character and actor races into consideration for casting recently

Suplee215

Legend of Korra recasted Toph (twice, adult and eldery), Aang, Katara and Zuko. The show runners always recast when doing age jumps and stuff.

Xýliandra

Technically, I haven't seen these episodes by myself yet, but fuck it, I'm Curious!!

Seraitsukara

Can the volume for the show be turned up for next time? I couldn't hear the show at all without turning my own computer's volume up so much your commentary was painfully loud. :(

RetroBeastto

Glad me and you are sharing the same gay theory crafting brain cell. I believe the Seven Havens are the planets chakra points and those points need to be heal for the planet to be balanced with Pavi and Nisha being the key to it

Alaïna

I wonder if Nisha connecting with Pavi and the Anomaly kinda modified the memory. Even though she acts tough and brave, she's more scared than her sister, she just don't accept it and burry it. Since in the hospital the fear of the Avatar modified how they were seeing Nisha and Pavi, maybe the fear of being "another Korra" Nisha has, modified the vision ? That would explain the "smile". She certainly did destroy this factory; but I don't think she was enjoying it like that. When Pavi was alone, we saw Korra being...almost sad about what she had to do. And then Nisha arrived and Korra looked happy about it ? Nah

Bug Catcher Jacky

I've noticed something and I don't know if it means anything. But Korra seemed more neutral / peaceful when it was just Pavi and became eerily villanious when Nisha came in. Maybe the Anomaly shows them things based on their believes / emotions rather than reality. With Pavi being more forgiving it makes sense she would see a gentler version of Korra as opposed to Nisha who seems very firm on the believe that Korra is bad.

James Derrick

I should note that Republic City was on the coast. Ellora is in the middle of the desert and the intro shows the sea levels rising

Henry

Me turning on subtitles to try to understand the episode a bit better and instead getting to learn about "patroller necklaces" and "Quorra".

SauceyRed

Ah, dang... I mean, I get it... but it's still sad, I loved Korra's voice, but assuming we only hear her speak as her older self, it probably won't be too jarring since older Zuko, Katara, etc. had very different voices and that wasn't much of an issue.

Melly

Damn thats annoying they'd change a beloved voice like that. Its the movie all over again. Least i trust them to find a voice close to the original but still damn it

Christopher Pinon

You know this makes me think Pavi has one perspective of korra but when Nisha touched Pavi it quickly showed different perspective. What if the energy was amplifying Nisha fear of being the avatar during that moment.

Black Fire

Notice when we see Korra destroying the pipes int he flashback, she is no longer wearing her betrothal necklace. So very possibly she and Asami divorced. Possibly due to them disagreeing on the use of this energy. I could see it where Asami wanted to harnes the power of the spirit world to further advance their technology and medical practices but while Korra was originally on board she started noticing a harmful effect which lead to disagreements between her and Asami until they split. Pavi is def stronger spiritually but weaker physically in her bending while Nisha is weaker spiritually but stronger physically with her bending.

Black Fire

"Korra, Aang, Kyoshi, Kuruk. All of them are here" Roku: "Well fuck you too"

Terrell

Korra has a new va bc now everyone is voiced ethnically correct. Same for the avatar aang movie and this show
