one of the most satisfying finales in tv history

Bhupinder brar

really enjoying the rewatch so far,  I like to write as I watch the show and your reactions, because then I can think more and expand on some of the ideas you talk about so I can apply them to myself in my own way. One thing I've been thinking about is strength. What does it mean to be strong? I'd love to hear your thoughts.I think to be strong is to be free. Being free as I think you'd describe it is choosing to act in the best way possible according to your principles regardless of the situation. In ATLA all of our beloved characters grow to be strong in this sense I think. Aang with trying to stay true to his principles to not kill the fire lord, despite him having the power to easily do so. Katara throughout the series with her sense of justice and morality, never turning away from people who need  help, sokka despite being a nonbender in the group takes down the air fleet in the finale, he does as much as he can to help in the fight despite being the least powerful and that makes him strong and free. Zuko becomes strong by becoming free from his father's possession over him and creating his own path and principles.  Toph, and Iroh start strong as characters. Even in Attack on Titan, I think the strongest characters are Erwin, Levi, Historia and Armin. They all except Levi aren't really powerful fighters but by choosing to act according their highest moral instincts/principles, they are free and therefore strong but also good which makes them real heroes. On the flipside we also have strong villains like Zahir or Ozai or even Zeke I'd say, who always act according to their principles which makes them free but not good since they use their principles to justify bad actions. Having these ideas of strength and freedom being well defined makes it easier for you to become stronger and to become free since you know how to get there. Actually watching your videos made me realize I don't have well defined principles so I was never really strong, and therefore was never really good, as being good requires you to be strong where the underlying principles which your strength are based on are high morally. Otherwise that good you do outside a place of strength will likely not be good in the first place. Like for example giving from a place of strength as you talk about rather than giving in hopes of receiving some favor in return. If I am not strong then I'm weak, and much more likely to be a force of evil and harm in this world. These videos are actually also helping/inspiring me to find a greater meaningful purpose in life. Like two years ago, my goal or purpose I set for myself was simple. Make money so I can get a house and move out and live life on my own. Now, I am almost there but I'm realizing that wasn't that meaningful purpose I was looking for. Like sure, it helps and everything and I'm grateful for where I am, but that's not enough for me to die satisfied or its not enough to convince me right now that I would die without regrets you know. I think I could die without regrets if I lived a life of doing good towards others, because doing good for others and yourself is for some mysterious reason deeply meaningful and it remains as a source of meaning for you later afterwards because you know you did good for another person and helped them. Maybe even after death, your help might be meaningful to a person whom you've helped who may became a better person as a result. So see, I have a very rough idea for a meaningful life I'd want for myself of doing as much good possible for others by becoming as strong as I can. Now, this is such an obvious and simple purpose and the actual hard part of figuring out exactly how I want to be helping others remains, but that's okay for now I think, and this understanding I gained from watching your videos about the ideas of freedom and strength is partly why. It's okay not to know the full details because I can still focus on becoming strong. I can focus on staying true to moral principles on a day to day basis, and by doing so will naturally do much more good for myself and for all those around me in my day to day actions. Then as I become stronger, I can also focus more so on becoming more capable or powerful. This way my sphere of influence will gradually increase and I will be able to do more good for more people. I think as long I remain strong and continue to become more capable, it won't matter where I end up as I would be a force of good anywhere, ideally sort of like uncle iroh. Therefore, I should do my best to become as strong as possible as the journey in itself is meaningful. Therefore I should create some principles to commit myself to so that I become strong and good and sincerely try to stick to them always. This will require some principles that I'm working on now as I am watching these videos. Hopefully as time goes on the list becomes more complete and I will be able to commit to it all one day. Some on the list right now: 1. Tell the truth or don't lie, unless in some extreme scenarios where judgement should be applied like if lying or not telling the truth will save someone else's life. 2. Be as honest as you can with yourself always.  3.  Accept responsibility for your entire being, mind, body and soul. This means don't be a victim, actively face and fight your weaknesses, commit to conquering the evil within yourself,    don't make excuses, do not give up and don't take pity upon yourself. Do not complain. 4. Take care of yourself including mind, body and spirit. I know this a long post but I wanted to let you know that I appreciate your content. It's helping me structure my life and improve myself and I wanted to let you know how as a thanks for that.

Wow thank you for the heartfelt comment. Congratulations on all your achievements towards your goals so far! The nature of these types of goals is always that they never deliver any kind of FULL LIFE MEANING or anything like that even if we think they will, but the fact that you made that decision, started working towards it, and will soon realize it is awesome nonetheless :) I like your idea of strength. I think there are a couple of elements to it, which you point out. One is capability I think. Working on our skills, becoming disciplined, developing abilities, probably contribute towards our ability to actually being ABLE to make choices in the first place. And then another part of it is making the choices that feel right and feel honest, even when that's very difficult. And to your point about responsibility, I think one of the primary elements or contributing factors towards even entering that plane of life where we aim to do better things is taking responsibility for one's life in thought and action, as you described :D
