Fr I was surprised when Goodwin was talking about a love interest for Yuki he didn't bring up Kakeru lol, though I guess he did say he had a girlfriend, if he didn't though I'd honestly suspect him to be Yuki's love interest, I think that'd be a great subversion of the love triangle trope, and would add on to Yuki's character arc of finding himself after pretending so long to be the perfect prince

Francesca White

I don't think what Machi said is harsh, remember Yuki HATES how everyone sees him as a perfect prince, so he was caught off guard when she said that cuz no one else has, even Tohru has said he's like one

Megan

It’s kinda mind blowing when you realize that Yuki’s intention with Tohru where never truly romantic. It makes rewatching Fruits Basket really interesting, you can see the foreshadowing throughout most of the show.

There's a lot of stuff we haven't gotten to yet regarding Kyo that I really think explains a lot of how he's acting. And I sometimes think you underestimate him. For example, Fruits Basket often makes sure to showcase how much he silently takes care of Tohru, ie. He comforts her when she's down, he makes food for her when she's sick, and somehow he always says the right thing to cheer her up. So, imo, regardless of how much internal growth he needs to do, he is still very much there for Tohru as someone she can rely on, for now at least. I seriously can't wait until you see more, it's seriously going to be a roller coaster of emotions.

I agree with you 100%. I've been a theater kid since 3rd grade and villains are ALWAYS the most fun to play!! (Not that a few years of school plays compare with Goodwin's *literally having been in movies as a kid*, but hey)

Geneva The Weeba

I absolutely adore how Mine says "Do you like to try on ~clothing~?" as if the characters are not ACTIVELY WEARING clothing

Francesca White

Yeah there are SO SO many little moments that show he's the only one who always knows what to do for her and always knows what she's thinking

agoodwintv

Never got to do a villain for real unfortunately (not to many child villains in movies) but always enjoyed it in acting class :D

Mortis

I mean I hate trying on clothes but I’m not a nudist. I just bear it the minimum I have to.

Sweetbun

You're not the only one, I'm on team KimixYuki too haha. ^^ Kimi is only a side character but she's so fun and lively, I'm never bored when she makes an appearance. Also SO excited for the next episode, its a fan favorite!

ArmdVctr

Remember, EVERYONE including Tohru thinks Yuki is a prince. Imagine Yuki's surprise when someone doesn't see him in that way.

raesh

i am so excited for the school play!!! Hanajima best cinderella!!

Crystalrose

we love a kimi x yuki moment heh🤓

Athena

I think Yuki was pleasantly surprised that Machi said he wasn't prince-like because he is far from perfect but everyone else assumes that he is

Evalone

Funny that there someone you didn't think about to be Yuki's love interest :) It hurts that the show focused so much on the Kyoru stuff after that... Sure, they're cute and all, especially Tohru realizing she's in love. But I can't shake the feeling the series forget all the good things Furuba had to offer and went full on roman e. Suche a shame when you've read the read the manga. At least, the movie has finally shown some stuff ! Can't wait to be in february !

Megan

Your comment has major spoilers. Also season 3 has tons of great moments that aren’t completely romance based.

Silent Shadow

A thought just came into my head and felt like sharing it. Fruits basket is my emotional support series. I think it always has been ever since I read the manga at the beginning of high school. Though I also feel that way about Natsume’s book of friends which makes sense I guess because the two stories have very similar themes.

Brimmy

between S2 Eps 21 and 22 i forgot ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL about Yuki thinking of Tohru as a mother so i was kinda weirded out at the end of Season 3 XD I was just like \y i k e s that's kinda weird my guy but ok\ "So does yuki...end up with someone then?" O.O hehehehe Yuki and Manabe's friendship is precious <3 tohru trying to be mean is the funniest thing subbed and dubbed and how hana just goes along with it LMAO AYAME SHUT UP LMAO "This is turning into Class 1-B's play" Y E S EXACTLY AND ITS FRICKEN AMAZING god that fuckin' look at 25:08 he's just SO FRICKEN HANDSOME whoever keeps drawing him like that needs a damn raise kyo full(???) backstory somewhere in season 3...i think....its all foggy XD

Amber

lol damn i wonder if kyo will ever prove himself worthy in your eyes haha but i was also a kimi/yuki shipper

Mackenzie

I love how you have grown such an affection towards Toruh like we all do. Almost the end of S2.....cant...wait

Brooklyn Doreen

You'll understand why that hat comment hit Kyo as hard as it did in season 3 😬 I'm excited how close we are to the season finale!! I can't wait to see how you react to what goes down!

benj

I was also a kimi x yuki shipper at first. All the endgame ships for this show end up being fully won over for me, which is extremely rare in a show with this many love interest stuff going on. Every main character gets the conclusion they deserve and that makes the most sense.

Nick

All the talk about different forms of love and unconditional love just has me thinking of vinland saga again. Damn I could probably make a video essay about fruits basket and vinland saga somehow

Nick

"I want to walk fourth again, encouraged by the kindness and warmth you gave me. I don't want to be defeated by the darkness. I want to believe and move forward. This time, I won't let it go to waste. I'm not giving up. I don't know when to give up. I'm actually really greedy. I want to discover my own special purpose in life." That was the subbed version of Yuki's speech to Kakeru, around the 7 minute mark of the video. I actually wrote it down immediately after hearing it because it resonated with me so strongly. Reminded me a lot of a scene from Re:Zero while also giving me a sort of wake up call. I've been using this quote to self motivate every now and then, Yuki's character is pretty inspirational

benj

That opening scene flashback to S1 where Tohru tells Yuki to be friends with him still after her memories are erased. That scene happens super early on in the show and is actually the moment that convinced me to stick with this show until the end, something about Tohru’s kindness in that moment connected to me deeply in the same way it did Yuki.

tine sess

I dont thin kyo will ever be as mature as yuki..lol. but I do think kyo has shown to be very supportive to tohru when she has really needed it, however it's not really been focused on in awhile in light of the crazy Yuki character development episodes we've been getting.

Stephanie

Yes hold Kyo to a high standard! As you should, precious Tohru can’t end up with just anyone… (Kyo is my favorite character followed by Momiji and Shigure so I’m excited for you to see the secret basement, Fruits Basket edition)
