Early reaction, you are spoiling us Goodwin. Not complaining :)

Is AOT not coming out today?

I havent been able to finish it yet but hoping to do so tonight :) (My tonight as it's morning here)

MikeWest

When we started off on episode 1 with "I jumped through the ceiling spirit", I didn't think that 4 episodes later we'd be exploring Jung's "Shadow-self", but that's on me for not learning my lesson from ATLA. Penguin sledding to 100 real quick.

Nick

Completely unrelated to Mob Psycho 100 (although my comments on the vid will come) I watched Dune (2021) the other day and have only been able to think about that lately. It's been running laps in my mind, phenomenal movie, really recommend it

Mob Psycho catches you off guard like that yeah

Update 1: I don't think you had subtitles for it but when Mob cut Teru's hair off, the screen popped up with "Top of Teru's head 0%" which is an ultimate gag

It’s so sad how after mob used his psychic powers against Teru the first thing he does is to cry cos he couldn’t change, he couldn’t stick true to his words, his vision of the person he wants to be and I feel that is such a relatable feeling that everyone experiences, failing to uphold smtg like a promise or a goal is similar. I feel what u mentioned about western vs anime or eastern media is pretty interesting, cos I have been thinking about this somewhat, like how the Japanese perspective on things is pretty unique. Just look at stories like this and one punch man where u have a super overpowered main character but the show is focused on much more than that. I feel like if this was a western show, mob using his powers against Teru would have been treated as some sort of victory but here as we’ve seen it isn’t. Also lastly Reigen is a pretty cool character in that yes he is a conman and can be a little slimy, but u can tell that he’s actually a good person who offers mob actual guidance and actual advice land isn’t just making use of him. His words this episode definitely stand out about how he compared psychic powers to any other innate skill and how it doesn’t necessarily make u better than others.

Reigen the definition of rolling a d20 for charisma getting nat 20 for every single thing he does lmao

This was just an excellent reaction all around. Facial expressions Character and motivation analysis Beautiful, poignant, applicable life lessons The divide between Eastern and Western media Dick jokes Goodwin's channel really has it all

Lyra Paradox

Teru reminds me a lot of bakugo! Lol

Kamolak

I have the nicotine issues, definitely relate, also I love that music you're playing at the end while you're talking and for the outro

Chris Sharpe

When I heard what you were saying about talent and inborn gifts and I couldn’t help but think of Bakugo. There are a lot of similarities between Teru and Bakugo at the beginning. Though I see the commenter Lyra Paradox beat me to this. I feel like with Mob, he’s doing something interesting with his improvement where, instead of missing the forest for the trees (the trees being his crush and popularity), he’s missing the trees for the forest. It’s like if you want to get people to date you, so you strive to get in shape and be healthier, and, as you get into it, you start to realize you aren’t thinking of dating the whole time. And even if it doesn’t work, what you have done is so much more than simply being attractive, you have learned self discipline, established a routine, feel better, have more confidence, etc. and feel like just getting dates is not the whole picture. I feel this is what is happening with Mob. Mob just needs to figure out that popularity and crushes are not the whole picture. Sidenote, is Teru’s voice actor the same as Light Yagami?! Or are his lines so similar that my mind is playing tricks on me?

Doesn't look like the VAs are the same. Erik Kimerer is Teru's English VA and Brad Swaile is Light's

Geneva The Weeba

Hmmm, the regular quote comp isn't sticking on the comments, so the rest of it is in the reply "I stole his religion from him and became God. I'll tell you about it sometime," "VERY astute observation, slimeball, thank you," (watch me use this sarcastically in arguments lmao," "Look at this guy! Look at this Onizuka-looking dude with a heart of gold that I love so dearly," (Reigen squad for life) "One of the greatest curses, I think, you can give to a child is to tell them repeatedly that they're smart," "I have this essence of intelligence exuding through my pores," (Yeah, I was that 'smart kid' . Goodwin's talk about that hit REAL close to home) "These two are both gonna be really popular for, like, destroying the school," *rock paper scissors midcard "YES. Suck it," "As empty as his middle-aged, pencil pushing head," "Oh no, his thing deflated. It has gone limp. Speaking of middle-aged pencil pushing. He's not pushing many pencils these days. Pushing this rope," (GOODWIN) "This is some dedication, but I mean, don't die,"

Geneva The Weeba
>>79503121

"He continues the barrage, the brutal assault," "Oh, there was an incident. There was a Hanajima incident," (EXACTLY what I thought seeing this the first time too) "That's the source of your powers too??"(TOO???????) "Mob like, blasted him into humility. And all it took was sending him to heaven," "You have to be in the state you're trying to change in order to change the state," "The more accurately I understand myself and my own danger, and my own weaknesses, the better chance I have of actually overcoming them," "To have your own weakness and flaws exposed, makes you feel like you're worse off than you were a moment before, when you were conceptualizing yourself as, this, you know, perfect being," "Join the Body Improvement Club. Improve your body *and* your mind," "You should see the other guy. The other guy caught middle-aged pencil pusher disease. And it is not pretty," Just. the whole talk at the end about why circumstance does not give you points or credit. and how Western media is losing that and anime is preserving it

Toshinori

When’s the YouTube link coming? Streamable doesn’t work on iPhone or at least not mine.

what iphone you got? there should be no issue with streamable on any smartphone...maybe its your browser on your phone. idk

_ scüp

The card that pops off after the bad haircut says "Teru's Hair: 0%" its my favorite gag in the episode

Nick
>>79501026

I mean to be fair I still don't know why they chose to have psychic energy coming from that place on Teru lmao It definitely encourages the jokes

Musicisum

Fun fact 1: In the sub, rather than a middle aged pencil pusher, Teru refers to his appearance as that of an ochimusha (also the name of the episode), which is a disgraced samurai that's fled battle, depicted with a shaved head to signify a loss of status.

Musicisum

Fun fact 2: Idk if anyone's talked about it yet, but the entire end credits sequence, as well as plenty of shots in the show, are done using a technique called paint on glass, by Miyo Sato. Basically just what it sounds like--stop motion images of a scene painted on a glass pane. It's an incredibly time consuming process. I love MP100's use of unique art media like that.

We need to see Goodwin react to the ED! Its been 5 episodes and we still haven't seen him react to the ED lol.

ay

Yeah important to remeber, the whole ??? State, it completely separate to mobs normal counter to 10%

Emma Root

I think part of what makes "what makes you different makes you strong" impactful is that there are many different types of strengths, and to just prevail despite difference and to get to a certain point is strength in my opinion, although that doesn't mean people that aren't different aren't strong. Although I think that's a line that is hard to take out of context because it is very circumstantial to what is the difference and what is the kind of strength being discussed. I agree that just being different doesn't make you strong, but I guess being "different" and thriving can still be something to celebrate. Just to at least push back against the narratives that are ingrained in some of us that being different makes you bad. I think western media isn't lost because it's trying to push back against ideas like the American dream or other media where it doesn't take being different into account at all. So I'm not saying it has the answers but I think it's doing important work to push back against previous narratives. But yes I could see how some anime is then going further than that, but for people who only watch western stuff I think the current trend is important in its own right, despite not having all the answers. Just some thoughts I had during the discussion at the end. In order to find a more true neutral ground I feel good when I celebrate things that society is telling me to dislike about myself.

React to the Mob Psycho 100 Season 1 ED or I'm gonna be really upset Alex. This is your last warning...

Emman Reed

when mob had the explosion of sadness he fixed the school in an attempt to fix what he did. Great reaction again.

The video is not working. I click on it, the screen disappears and a whole link shows up instead of playing

Stephen

The subtitle said "Top of Teru's Head: 0%"

Just click on the streamable link chief. It works just fine for me. Patreon UI is horrible, don't rely on it to work ever.
