Zenitsu is the exact person Bruce Lee was talking about when he said "I don't fear the man who has practised 10,000 kicks. I fear the man who practised one kick 10,000 times." This series' use of Elements that directly relate to the powers of the Slayers is some seriously inspired character writing. Tanjiro uses water, and his personality reflects that. He is steadfast, always there, and keeps moving forward (Accidental Eren moment). When he encounters an obstacle in his way (ex. The boulder in the training episodes that he slices in two, direct reference to how water erodes rock) he pushes himself to try his very best, over and over again, until he defeats even the strongest of Demons. He is just like a river, carving its way through solid stone, constantly slicing away and never giving up until it breaks through. Zenitsu on the other hand is capricious and unreliable. He constantly flees and does everything he possibly can to avoid confronting Demons. However, when he is backed into a corner, he snaps, and then f***ing OBLITERATES every damn thing in his way. Just like how lightning itself can never be counted on or predicted, but when his energy builds up and reaches a tipping point he snaps and strikes with the literal heat of the sun. Great character writing is my favourite thing about any show that has it (Hence why ATLA is the greatest thing to ever exist) and damn does Kimetsu no Yaiba do a better job with its characters and power scaling than any other battle shounen I have ever watched. Zenitsu and Tanjiro are lightning and water personified.

Don't worry too much about these delays, we all know how much you care and that its not really in your control.

That's a cool point, Tanjiro is also patient and steadfast as it took him over a year to complete the rock task where others would have given up

Zenitsu is both the most hated and loved character depending on who you talk to. He got first place in both the manga popularity polls in Japan, yet I’ve seen and endless amount of people who’ve said they’ve dropped the anime because of how annoying he is

My interpretation of Zenitsu’s sleeping state is related to what he mentioned after this episode’s fight ended. He said that he has a dream where he is strong and he can protect anyone. So I believe that, whenever’s he unconscious, he starts to dream about that strength he wants to have, and that dream (and everything he pulls off within it) becomes his reality without him even realizing it. It’s basically sleepwalking taken to the extreme.

Jake White

FYI: Zenitsu just calls his master “Gramps” as a form of familiarity, like “Old Man” or “Pops.” They aren’t actually related or family, though

Toy Story villains look scary and disgusting. But obviously the clock is even more disgusting

Is it just me, but is Zenitsu’s cowardice kinda…. refreshing. I mean, it’s interesting to see a character react in such a realistic way, and kinda funny in my eyes.

Skyler Anderson

God that Thunderclap and Flash sixfold never gets old. One of the most consistently cool animated characters in the show.

"No thanks. No. It's like the thing from Toy Story," (Oh my gosh you're so right) "Where some people lead with affection, kindness, and strength, Zenitsu leads with tears," "And to make it even MORE offensive, it doesn't even have numbers! And it's analog. What kind of person keeps an analog clock with no readable numbers?!/This clock. The real villain," (Goodwin. In all your talks, applicable as they may be, about being the smart kid, about being to the point in a field where you can't see the progress you've made, about needing to be in a vulnerable state in order to amend it, about action creating motivation. NEVER. NEVER HAVE I FELT MORE CALLED OUT THAN I DO RIGHT NOW) "He's just the biggest spider troll. But he's having a great time, as the villains do in this show," "I know this is a lot to ask right now, in the state you're in, but could you manage a nap? Could you manage some sleep?" (Me at my sleep deprived hs friends) "I don't know, there's something about his cocky arrogance that makes me think he has a girlfriend," (DAMN.) "There are certain things you just can't run from," "No one is coming to save us. There is no moment that comes and makes you into a hero," (Beautiful link between this and MHA 2x16 “No one is coming to rescue me. No one else is here,”) "Now just take a second to pose in front of the moon while you're at it," "That's death o'clock, I guess," "Failure tends to spiral, but so does success,"

I'm pretty sure Zenitsu isn't related to his teacher, he just calls him gramps out of respect and love to him

Reason 4 of why I love Zenitsu: I really enjoy getting his backstory and personal perspective of himself. It made me emotional knowing that he hates himself more than anyone.

Athena

Reason 5 of why I love Zenitsu: I love the idea that he only knows one form of thunder breathing. He has honed the one form to perfection and can vary its power level which is super awesome!!! “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” - Bruce Lee
