Friend of the show Jak joins me to discuss the recently announced Nintendo Switch OLED version. We break down what we think of it, what's new about it, what was missing and some of the misinformation surrounding it. Let us know your thoughts in the comments and give us a like if you enjoyed it!

The weird thing about the bloomberg is that they basically had it right the first time around, in that they only really reported on the OLED screen. This made a lot of sense to me at the time too because Aula was already a known thing in the datamining scene. IIRC it started appearing in the firmware around January. The only place I had seen any mention of a 4k/DLSS switch was on resetera and it was mostly coming from one particular person who I won't name here. You would think such an important hardware detail would have leaked out from someone with a devkit... I can't help but wonder that maybe Bloomberg tried to get ahead of the story, or perhaps made the giant assumption that the OLED Switch and this mysterious 4k Switch Pro were one in the same. And even then, you have to question what sources they looked at that would have potentially lead to these wires getting crossed. I hope in the future reporters try to talk to dataminers about this kinda stuff. So far in the Switch's lifespan, almost all hints at a hardware revision were first uncovered via datamining. It just makes sense to try to cross reference sources with what dataminers are seeing in the firmware, and might prevent stories like the Bloomberg report from happening again that were way off the mark.

The datamine hack suggested that the Aula would be capable of 4K for reference. It had mentions of a Realtek 4K chip so, the new dock should be capable of outputing in 4K. I guess Nintendo is not advertising it because all current software on the Switch wouldn't support it. I thought there was another profile datamined as well though. It was a bit more recent compared to Aula, which is why people assumed the Aula was like a dev kit exclusive or maybe something at Super Nintendo World.
