A few days ago, I posted an exclusive report on a rumour that Nintendo may be preparing to re-release classic Nintendo Gamecube games through its Virtual Console service on the Nintendo Switch. I mentioned in that post that there was a list of rumoured possible Gamecube Virtual Console games floating around. I have been working to corroborate that list ever since. If these latest rumours are to be believed, Super Smash Bros. Melee will be a key part of Nintendo's line-up for Gamecube VC and is currently being worked on. I've heard that it has apparently been in the works for a number of months, although details of what it will actually offer are currently sparse. Nonetheless, the concept of a relaunched, digitally available Melee port on a Switch tablet is one that I find very appealing. How do you lot feel about this possibility? Expect to be hearing about it soon from other news sources and as with any rumour, take it with a nice pinch of salt. - Liam

They must know from experience with Smash4WiiU that the only way they will make this successful is to allow a way to play Melee with a GC controller. Do we know what kind of port the Switch dock or tablet will have? USB I assume, at least

I've figured that Melee would've returned in some form or another, be it in its 'original' form or some type of remake by some smaller studio. Having a scene around the game still, putting this out is essentially easy PR points by Nintendo. It's funny; having returned to Melee not too long ago, although very good still, it feels archaic in many aspects. I think I have a way better time with Smash 4, though it's not a clear-cut "one game is completely better then the other" situation. It's a subject I've wanted to cover in a personal project. Anyhow, my point was that I think Melee especially would've felt better via a remake.
