Update: Bioware's 'Dylan' Is A Codename (Patreon)
Content
In my previous post, I revealed the first details of BioWare's new IP. In that post, I discussed that it is currently being referred to as 'Dylan' internally. At the time, I hadn't yet been able to ascertain the significance of the name; whether or not it was a codename, or if this was an unconventional tentative title. I can now confirm that it is, indeed, a simple codename. Its true title has yet to be finalised, say sources at BioWare.
The origin of the tile 'Dylan' , which I was able to find out today, sheds light on BioWare's internal approach towards codenames. The name refers to the musician Bob Dylan. BioWare names its unannounced projects after musicians.
Yes, really.
It's a way to compartmentalise information within their different departments and prevent leaks (like the ones you read on here) from happening. I was also informed by one source that another game they have in development is being called 'Project Hendrix' (after Jimmy Hendrix). Isn't that nice?
