Holy fucking shit........I'm only a few minutes in but this is legit blowing my mind. Im rethinking everything I thought about the west wing from when I first watched it and I'm asking myself why the heck I just accepted pretty much all the narratives in this show without question as a kid. EDIT: Also the raiders of the lost ark clip was great.

Did WW ever comment on anti-war protests? Before the Iraq War there were huge protests that the media ignored, I wonder if Sorkin ever noticed

Great question! In the world of the show, there is no actual "war on terror" so there's nothing for the show's American people to protest, like with Iraq or Afghanistan. For the show, all of these conflicts are discrete police actions. The show also portrays the American people as far more bloodthirsty than Bartlet, which might be true. What the show does do in regards to protesting, and what we saw in the latest livestream watch-along, is that it dismisses protests "these days." Toby claims that they protested for REAL things in the 60s like against Vietnam, and that any protestors today are just larpers
