secrets (Patreon)

I had a friend in high school, and we used to sit on a bench and try and guess people’s secrets. If you asked him now, he probably wouldn’t even remember how every time we played he would make a few guesses, and then guess that the person secretly liked gay porn. Not that they were gay. This specific thing. They liked the porn.

I think I did it myself, without even noticing. I probably came back to the same guess again and again. Because why would that man be worried that people find out he got fired? That doesn’t matter. Who would care about that? Why would that woman be afraid that people will find out her real last name? 

I think when a part of someone is invisible to us, is secret, and is buried, we see ourselves there. It is the only thing that makes sense.
