Hey all! First off, I have once again been notified of a Patron DMing members of the r/Warformed community trying to shame them into backing this Patreon instead of asking questions on Reddit about the story and the like.

To that Patron: Since you were fool enough to use the same username on both Reddit and Patreon, enjoy the permaban. This will be the last Patreon post you ever have access to.

Guys, I am a horribly slow writer. I was before Wraithmarked, and it has only gotten worse since the company has gotten its legs. As such, I'm copying and pasting the message I put out last year on this subject:

I appreciate you all so much, and I love being paid for my work. BUT... do not pay for Patreon unless you are comfortable doing so (personally and financially both) AND you either want access to the materials there or want to support me passively. Don't let ANYONE bully you into paying.

NEXT WEEK:

New art from RakasaDemon coming Monday! New chapter coming next (probably Friday or Saturday)! Sorry it's a gap on this one, but unlike the con season I have been working on STORMWEAVER, it's just that my writing time the last two weeks has been spent gathering up the finalized first year roster, plotting out some of the next couple chapters (weird for me, I know), and (with your fantastic help) pulling together a list of the plot points I need to make sure not to lose track of over time!

Plenty of stuff coming next week, though!

THE POLL:

This is a simple one! As you all know I'm trying to increase the value of the Patreon this year, and that includes a lot of art from some TOP level people! We have a lot of Firesong art coming, but (including from the squad) I want to know:

WHO DO YOU WANT TO SEE MORE ART OF/ART FOR THE FIRST TIME? I WILL BE COUNTING UP THE COMMENTS, AND COMMISSIONING SOME WORK IMMEDIATELY FOR THOSE CHARACTERS!

(Just keep in mind it takes time to get the final art, so commissioning now means they'll be coming in a few months)!

I am still looking for feedback on this, especially from a sensitivity and inclusion standpoint, so if there are any thoughts on that add them to your comment about what character you'd like to see art of!

I would love some family art of Rei and his sister (possibly his grandpa too) but I think that requires some important conversations to pass before it could be created (can't wait for the brother sister conversation!). Y'know a family style portrait of fire song could be HILARIOUS although the difficult decision is who would be the stoic parents, Rei and aria, or viv and Mr silent and who would join everyone else as chaos gremlins ( like a perfectly imperfect family photo). I'd die laughing seeing that! Thank you for an enjoyable story.

You know. I don’t think I can name a single cadet from class E. I thought it stopped at D this whole time even after my many read throughs. It’s great you’re taking the time in writing the story imo. I’d much rather we go without chapter releases so you can be able to plan out future chapters better for a cohesive reading. I am looking forward to the potential plot points being written. The Archons and the war are the more interesting to this story imo, some learning of that and their history would be sick. See you next week! (probably)

Oh, wow! That’s an extensive list. I’d like to clarify a few points, even though they may already be considered part of a subplot: - What exactly do Kamiya and Hiroto do, especially given their involvement in the CAD development? - Lennon and Rei’s relationship. They have a lot in common, and I think they could support each other in a way similar to the end of the sectional in Book 2. - What feelings does Rei have toward his orphanage? - Is it possible to learn more about their future opponents in the SCTs, both as individuals and as Firesong?

Eventually, art for Carmen, Salista, and Rama might be nice. And I agree with others that you need to take your time. Also, I did not respond regarding potential clean up on character discrepancies, but I am re-reading the first book and the only mentions I see of Cashe's hair is that it's silver. Your character list has her with a black braid with silver tips, if I remember the list correctly.

Going off my comments in the last post about wanting a trilogy of books for dent (one for school, one for SCTs, and one for her time on the front lines) along with more about Rei Sarah and his grandfather mending bridges and potentially taking the family name. I’d also love to hear more about grants sister possibly with her somehow getting connected with Jasper and getting Logan’s contact id.

For plot I wouldn't mind seeing what happens to the people at Galens that can't keep up. You showed it a bit in the year 2/3 discrepancies, but I imagine some year 1's are starting to Dwarf some of the other year 1s.

I have given some thought to this post, and your last one concerning your comments on what threads we would like to see followed in your series. While you gave us a lot of options to consider. I think the most interesting for a continued main story line, at least for me, is Reis' and his teams continuing growth and all that involves. This includes the upcoming first year participation in SCT's along with his interactions with his instructors, his team, and his growing connections to his newfound family. Including growth of his relationship with his grandfather, sister and eventual confrontation with his parents. As well as the obstacles he will face in the meddling of Central, the threat of Sidrov etc. and I am sure newer threats and challenges to be revealed. I am particularly looking forward to the obvious point in the future when Shido evolves the ability to communicate with Rei, much as Kes does with Dent. I envision some interesting conversations, both humorous and serious when that occurs. I expect or more actually hope that we will eventually (much later in the series) see his evolution past King class, Emperor class maybe? As well as how he will be used to counter the growing threat of the Archons. As far as secondary and tertiary characters, I would consider following a model used by another Author I follow, Terry Mancour. In his Spellmonger series he has spun off several characters into serialized novels of their own, in addition to adding single novels/novellas to cover interesting but lightly detailed events in the main story line. I think Valarie Dent's story from her own collegiate/SCT career though her front line experiences, along with the evolution of Kes and finally ending up at Galens would work for a trilogy at least. You could probably do the same with the Laurent family beginning with Carmen going from Galens as a student , meeting his wife, all the way up to his combat on the front lines. This would allow you to flesh out with a series of stories that includes his friendship with Guest, the family drama with the parents, the issues leading to the children cutting them off, intertwined with the dread due to the threat of the Archons, filling in a lot of side information on the way. I, at least, would have great interest in serialization of this type. I realize of course, that this would greatly increase the burden you would bear in producing such a large universe of work, however, I have no doubt it would be both financially and creatively rewarding. Anyway, that is my two cents in regards to your request.

I would love to see the team get their arena names, we've been given most of them at this point but I'd love to see how they get them! I also think it might be interesting to see if Rei's programming skills and Shido's advanced tech can tie into Kamia corp's products.

BTW: will the SCT's allow first years to participate or will SCT include an own bracket? I mean we know that Firesong will participate, but do we know that they will not face 2 and 3 years?

I think it would be awesome to have a patreon edition of fire and song or book 3 with all the Stormweaver art thus far in the index, if permitted by your art contracts of course. I would even be willing to buy it on top of my patreon, but make it exclusive to members.

I'm gong to put this into the Viv's brain category but is likely more of a dumb nitpick I've had around her hospital stay than actually wanting more information about her brain. I'd also like to start by saying a lot of this could be hand waved away with small explanations that make total sense in universe and I'll even cover some of them. Basically, I don't think that Viv should have been in an zero-gravity tank the duration of her coma. Human body's like gravity, we evolved to be in gravity and a lot of complications come from extended stays in null-g. Does this help explain why Viv is so weak after her coma? Yes, and it makes a lot of sense. Would her CAD be able to help with some or all of these complications? Probably. Would there even be some benefits to the zero-g initially? Also yes, but after a while it seems like going back to a bed or something similar would be better overall for a long term coma patient. That's just my two cents. I love the books and this is just something I've been thinking about for a while and doesn't effect my experience at all.

They are a group that is run by autistic folks that encourages nurotypical folks to ask questions. If you want a character that isn’t stereotypical that would be a great place to go for suggestions. Bryce I’ll say this while you may feel slow the stories you are creating are complex and in depth. I’d much rather slow than not at all *cough* king killer chronicles *cough*. Also to inclusion anything touching on non neurotypicals is going to be tough cause it’s vast and looks different depending on individual. As a dyslexic just the fact they did paper tests excludes unless you world build in alternates which expands and dilutes your story unless that becomes its own story. This is not me saying you excluded because of the paper tests for getting the cad but more of a context point of the challenge you are facing. I’m all for it but be mindful of scope creep

Bryce, First off, thank you so much for sharing your process with us and this amazing world you've created. I noticed a lot of the secondary and tertiary plots involve backstories. That's gotta be a lot to process. So what if one day down the line you did a prequel? I'd love to see Rama and Carmen as cadets at Galen's.. We could cover the circumstances around Rei's birth first hand as well as Logan's mother's POV on how that whole thing went down.. We could see some of the Mind's failures that led to Shido.. Not to Mention Valera's time as a soldier. I think it'd be a fantastic story that could also usher a whole new generation of readers to the main books. Anyway, just a thought from a guy that knows nothing about professional writing. I suppose, maybe I thought this would be a way to take some of these things off of your current plate and do these plot lines justice at a later time while expanding the story and growing the fan base. I'd sure as hell read it. Take care sir.

The plot threads look great. In terms of art there are a lot of characters I would love to see. 1. Sarah 2. Von Bor, Kalus, and Wainwright. 3. The sub instructors. I think I recall we saw De Soto and Bretz in their CADs fighting Dent in I think it was book one. 4. The other first year teams. Then not character related, but having a map of Galens would be something I would find interesting. I love maps in the front of books (I only have audiobook versions so not sure if there is anything like that in the hard copies. If not a map, then maybe a landscape type picture of Galens with the major structures and the city skyline in the background.

In order of what you posted: I hate cyber bullying! Just because it's online, doesn't it mean it hurts less or doesn't have a real cost to life! Good job banning the creep! I would love to see Valeria Dent, in her SCT uniform, when she was on the circuit and what she looks like now, kinda like a before/after? Of course I want to see every member of Firesong plut Lennon and his gf Dice! Ooh, showing the family potrait of Reidon and the Kamiyas would be good too! Sort of like "this is what he should have had" The rest I'll leave up to imagination 😉 Oooh, the plot lists! Some really great suggestions from the fans that I didn't think of! But I think my suggestion did make the list (maybe) or it was covered by someone else's - either way, those lists make me excited for what is to come! +1 on how many schools compete and how they work that out. So they’re cancelling Globals this year and heading straight to Systems and Intersystems. How do they decide which individuals / teams go to Systems? The top 4 in each category from each Sectionals tournament? Even limiting to the top 4 (which, BTW, would mean that Firesong wouldn’t qualify for Wargames) would still be a lot of teams / students. We know that there are at least 3 planets in the Astra system, with at least 9 sectors on Astra 3. Extrapolating, 3 x 9 = 27 x 4 = 108 x 4 (Team Battles and Wargames for the 1st year and 2nd/3rd year brackets) = 432 x 6 = 2,592 students (+ students who made it into the top 4 in Duelling who’re not in a team / - double counting for teams that made it into the top 4 in both Team Battles and Wargames, like Steelbound). If only the winning teams / individuals go through then I feel that would be unfair. Galens is a powerhouse. I bet some of the teams they faced at Sectionals would be stronger than some of the teams who won at other Sectionals. Eg. the winner of Wargames at the Astra 2 , Sector 2 Sectional might not be as strong as Soulpaw (Kenneth) or Hellbrought (103rd) who made it into the Astra 3, Sector 9 Warhames final facing off against Valormade and Red Crown

I would also like to see art or diagrams of the environment. You world you created is amazing, and I want to know more about what it looks like. I think some of the area's that get conjured would make great art pieces. You could decide if you wanted to put in people using the arena or not. I'm thinking of one scene where the teams are split up and Aria ends up getting launched to the other side of a wall. Or maybe the battle without gravity where you could have the characters in all sorts of crazy places or positions. Damn, I clearly need another re-read. Too many fuzzy details.

When Shido achieves sentience it will have a unique personality and ability to add to Rei’s firepower significantly I’d imagine. I feel like this is a key step and could happen soon to help manage all Rei’s features. I’d like to see a lot more around this. Also maybe von bor getting a chard and maybe becoming a queen class? Also looking forward to Logan’s evolution

I like the SCT plotline best I’d like to see more of that. I think it’s the most exciting part of the book, until we get to the war at least. Hopefully we get more of it going forward

RULES OF THE GAME STEM

Laquita Martin and Camilla Warren are negative characters that are black and female. Could we please change this? There is a pattern throughout literature of painting my race and sex as negative. Let's try not to add to the negative stereotypes.
