Asher's motivations (Patreon)
Content
In the last post, I said that Asher starts his journey to find the real culprit behind his hometown's tragedy (the black knight/ Midnight Blade), and while that is true I just wanted to briefly expand on that. Asher, as you all know, has felt different (no magh) and lonely in Elnid'oh even when he has Father Isaiah and his friends, he always wondered why his parents didn't want to have him and where he actually comes from, having the necklace as the only memento of their family even being real.
When Ixbal shows up, it is because she was reacting to Asher's necklace, so this instantly establishes that Asher's connection with ixbal comes from somewhere else, which intrigues him. Father Isaiah might tell Asher (during the exile) that Ixbal was the one that brought him here when he was a baby, so discovering where ixbal comes from might also lead him to discover his origin and perhaps his true family, which will prove to be difficult since Ixbal has no memories. This a journey that he had always thought about but was too afraid to embark on, the exile and Ixbal were the last push he needed to try to find his place in the world (especially after losing access to his only home).
So to sum it up, Asher's mind in the moment of the exile is:
-That black night must have something to do with this.
-Guilt, he must set the record straight if he wants to come back home, cuz he did the right thing... didn't he?
-Also Ravik's condition.... yeah..he lost an arm, and let's say Ravik doesn't exactly love Asher right now for reasons... I can elaborate if you guys want me to.
-Ixbal knows how to fight reapers, why?
-where does she come from?
-why my pendant reacts to her and the heavens key?
- if Isaiah is correct then she must know where I come from.. but she doesn't remember.
-does this mean I might be special?
Basically, I would say Asher is desperately trying to find meaning to his existence and purpose at this point and is trying to run away from the guilt of the tragedy by choosing to focus on a "true culprit" narrative. I mean he is right, there is more to this situation than it might seem but, he won't be able to run away from the consequences of his actions forever, especially because of Ravik's situation...
