I wanted to draw a little cute interaction between the two that could take place during some dramatic points of the story, where Asher's only true comfort and support is Kaius, who better than anyone understands the situation that he is going through, yet maybe from a different perspective.
For these warm gestures to start happening, a lot of time has to pass, since for Kaius this is all new. He never really had true experiences being closer to people, the only instances he could have had were abruptly taken away from him.
Since the curse started, he is extremely self-aware of the danger his presence alone entails for anyone that comes close to him, he knows that one bad night could be enough for Sabaoth to destroy everything he has left (the demon is constantly telling him all the gruesome things he would do once he comes out), that's why he closes up to people, puts so many walls cuz he is scared to hurt people and thus being hurt himself.
When he met Asher for the first time, as much as they bantered initially and he disliked how simple-minded our protagonist is, he felt that for the first time, someone treated him like he was normal and worth caring for, in a way Kaius didn't like Asher's Attitude cuz to him it was a like blinding light which drew out all his flaws to plain sight, he was resentful that Asher could live the way he would never be able to live, carefree and optimistic, and he hated him for that.
Eventually Kaius, as cold and indifferent as he pretended to be, started to feel the warmth of the company the party and Asher gave him, it was like he was starting to feel part of them, like a family and that frightened him to his core. He knew the closer he gets to them, the more it would hurt when things go south, and he knew it would be his fault...it would only take one bad night, one mistake and all of what he started to cherish would vanish, he felt like a bomb that would explode anytime soon.
Is not until a tragedy involving Asher taking a cruel but necessary decision, that both of them become closer, Kaius becomes Asher's anchor, his rock, and thus starts to open himself to Asher, as he learns that the boy's life wasn't as easy as he thought.
Sabaoth's hobby is to terrorize Kaius' mind 24/7 in hopes he would stumble and commit a mistake, making an opening for him to take control of the young man. The children of Adam used to think as Adam himself, but in contrast to his father, these children have been in constant contact with humanity, not only the human psyche they inhabit but their interactions, friends, enemies, loved ones, victims, etc... This led the Demons to develop a sense of self, an identity forged by the interactions with the real world and others, an ego, something that Adam lacks. That's why these entities might show motivations and desires, sometimes irrational but that's what they learned from humans, specifically the one they inhabit, mostly terrible people doing terrible things, and as the children of Adam they knew their main duty is to accelerate the reaping of souls, which to Sabaoth means that any excuse to kill people is good. In a sense these demons are just irrational kids doing whatever would make their father proud, they want to win and be the best in his father's eyes, poor little things, Adam will never care for them as anything else that instruments.
There will come a time when Sabaoth learns just how disposable the Archons really are and his eyes will open to the truth.
