Concept Art 025: Rulers of Valdosarel (Patreon)

Leila's parents are finally here, I haven't thought much about their whole backstory but I'll let you know what I have so far.

As you know Leila is a summoner since she inherited "the tuning" (the ability to harmonize with the summons) from his Father's bloodline, curious enough Leonid  never showed signs of having the ability within him, so there might be a reason why some individuals do develop it and some others  do not (it might have something to do with the resurrection kyrios or maybe factors like genetics or age, is hard to know)

Due to this fact, Leonid might put extra pressure on Leila to succeed in developing the tuning since he as the king cannot do it on his own, he is frustrated with himself and while he tries to be understanding with Leila, the fate of the nation lies on her shoulders, sometimes the king cannot help but be harsh with her child sometimes. While Leonid pressures Leila, Irina is there to comfort her when things get too hard or too much and usually tells Leonid to tune it down with Leila, but again this is not an easy situation for anyone and the citizens are starting to lose hope, feeling betrayed by the crown.

As much as Leonid and Irina try their best to get resources and food for the citizens selling their valuable possessions in the black market (since they are excommunicated, trading and business with other kingdoms is forbidden and could cause devastating consequences for the parties involved) but with the famine and illness caused by the eternal snowstorm, there is just so much they can do.

A whole nation is suffering cuz the kings couldn't sacrifice their heir, but in their eyes, there was no option, after so many years of trying to have kids and failing several times, the king and queen were devastated.. but when all hope was lost, Irina got pregnant and Leila came to the world. The king and queen were so happy, finally, their dream of forming a family was a reality, but when Leila showed signs of having the tuning, they knew things were not going to be easy, they had to protect her at any cost, not only because she was their beloved child they tried so hard to have, but also because Leila was indeed the last summoner on Arcadia.

Summoners were always important to Valdosarel's history, it is believed the first king was a descendant of the first civilization from Cebelis, a really advanced kingdom where the summoners first originated. After Cebelis was "destroyed" during the Cataclysm (either by Iblis or the Ekpyrosis) All the surviving summoners were persecuted by the Ekpyrosis as pagans and a menace to the natural order of god.

The role of a summoner, as shown in the prophecy mural of Valdosarel is to go on a pilgrimage with "The Savior", also called Kyrios, awaken all the Nephilim and stop Iblis from resurrecting again and causing the cataclysm.
