Jaime very much channeled his father when he talked to Edmure. He needed results and if someone always knew how to get them, it was Tywin.

i kinda disagree with people defending tommen by saying hes 14, BUT, in my personal opininion/headcanon (i havent read the books so if its proven true or false in them, dont @ me lmao) i think tommen is basically just suffering from PTSD almost, or at least some sort of mental trauma disorder, due to how overly violent and brutal his brother was/the things he'd seen his brother do i think hes just terrified of becoming his brother, so he avoids force/violence at all times......but it turned into an over-correction, where now he's too much of a pushover to be a good leader, despite being a good person

(which i think is also why he was able to be convinced that banning "trial by combat" in that moment, was a great idea.....he was basically primed for the idea to be put in his head)
